I am upgrading the sound in my 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad-cab PU truck. Among the changes are radio (Alpine iDA-x305 head unit); the addition of a five-channel ampflifier (PDX- 5); and (any day now) new speakers (front: Alpine 6x9" 69C's; rear: JL Audio 6 1/2 inch C2- 600X). I am no headbanger, but I like my sound accurate, clear and detailed. The subwoofers I researched needed to do those things, and still fit in the confines of my rear fold- up bench seat. Enter the SWS1243D. I had a heckuva time finding a good enclosure and finally found a rock-solid, fits-like-a-glove box for my rear driver's-side seat. The subwoofer fit tightly inside the enclosure, and now rounds out the bottom end of my music (rock, jazz, classical, folk, you name it). It can rattle my windows -- and those of my fellow drivers -- but I prefer accuracy to bloated bass. And this baby is very accurate, too. Thank you, Crutchfield, for all of your help and professionalism to all of your customers.

I bought two of these woofers this summer and hooked them up to a SP2 X-1600 that puts out 760 watts RMS @ 4 ohms bridged to the two woofers. I also have a one farad Rockford Frostgate capacitor hooked up to the amplifier. The subs preform really well. I had to turn the amp down to about 50% to get it so that I could hear anything not bass in the cab on my '92 Corolla. Im using a type one sealed box and it barely fit in my trunk. But I believe that the woofers were worth every penny, and I plan on buying some more if I ever need too. But I really doubt that I will because the handle the power and hard hitting bass so well. I won't recommend getting more then one of these if you want to listen to rock or metal. There is just to much going on. If I had a wired remote for my amp, maybe I could handle it, but thats something that is not compatible with my amp.

I bought this sub when my 4ohm blew when I hooked up to my Alpine MRP-M450. Going down to 2 ohms made the sound so much better. It also does great if you like listening to bass heavy music. I stuck in a CD of DJ Magic Mike and everything was shaking. I guess I will have to pick up some dyna mat. This sub is a great fit for the trunk as well. Especially if you are tight on space. Great sounding sub for use with a small eclosure.
