I was experiencing that annoying alternator whine after installing my new head unit. After following tech support's suggestions and trying to improve the ground connections, I opted to try the filter. I ordered 1. It arrived in 2 days, with free shipping and in perfect shape. I installed it on the switched hot and it reduced some of the whine, but not all. I ordered a 2nd and installed it on the constant hot (clock/memory) and that finally did the trick no more alternator whine. Total investment $26. Both units arrived quickly, in perfect condition.

I was getting a whirring sound through my speakers, while driving, especially while listening to AM radio. It was very easy to install and stopped the noise.

Needed a noise filter on XM radio plug in - rest of system had no noise. Package was in rough shape - plastic was torn and unit was covered in little white specs and something was obviously loose inside (rattled). Should have returned it - I'm sure Crutchfield would have taken care of it, but based on previous reviews, decided to open it up and found loose transformer - solder joints to board broken and hot glue everywhere (the source of the white specs). Fixed the solder joints, zip-tied back together. Installed and no more noise on XM. So... it (now) works great for me - but construction quality is horrible.

This little guy did the trick in our race trailer. We had a lot of interference in our 12 volt radio whenever we started the generator. This removed all the humming, static and noise. Great deal and simple to install.

I have never written a review regarding an item I purchased, but I felt I had to give a review to this one.
Package was fine; product looked fine until I removed it from the package.
As mentioned, it did look good, but it rattled and just felt like it was falling apart!!!
I opened it up and found that inside electrical piece had come unglued from the case.
The solder points were lose and needed to be re-soldered.
I had to reapply glue and ziptie the assembly together.
Horrible craftsmanship and I cannot believe that Crutchfield caries this.
If this is purchased by someone who does not have the knowledge to repair it, it will be returned as it will not function correctly due to bad solders, or it will fail in a short period of time.
After the repairs, it did work as advertised though.
The alternator whine was gone.
