Love this camera! Recently, I made the mistake of purchasing a low-price Sony,
thinking that HD was not worth investing in. Not only was the picture awful on
the Sony, my iMac didn't know it.
My iMac recognized the Canon immediately.
The picture is great.
The controls are easy...no problems with the touch screen, as far as I'm concerned.
I ordered an additional battery, as I was aware of the battery complaints, so no
surprises with the short life.
I'm really please with this purchase, and ALWAY a Crutchfield fan. I was
shopping for this specific Canon camera, and found it at a $60 savings through
the Crutchfield outlet (open box). And I received a camera bag and SD card
FREE, without even knowing I was getting a bonus.
Hear the enthusiasm in my writing... I am so, so pleased with this purchase.

Amazing Camera / Software Not the Best |

I bought the Canon VIXIA HF M30 about a week prior to a vacation to Walt Disney World
in Florida, and I am very pleased with my decision. This is an awesome camcorder!
The VIXIA line was recommended to me by someone I know at work. I actually
purchased two more generic 4-hour batteries from Amazon.com's marketplace because
I wasn't sure how much recording time I'd have with just the one included 2-hour
battery. I'm still figuring out all the bells and whistles on this little gem, but I really like
the ability to be recording video and taking a still photo at the same time! Very nice
feature!
The included software isn't that great, however. One thing I found out the hard way is
that if you want to upload any of your videos to YouTube, you do it while the video files
are still on the camera's 8GB flash memory or on your high-capacity SD memory card. If
you use the software to transfer the movie files from the camera to your PC's hard drive,
then you have to use additional software to convert the videos from, in my case, *.mts to
a format that YouTube recognizes. Thankfully, there are a few, free software titles out
there that let you convert HD movie files pretty easily.
So...in summary, this is a super nice camera! I'm going to leave the software out of the
ratings because I like the camera so much...which I give 5 stars!!! Nice job, Canon!!!

This is our first digital camcorder, let alone an HD camcorder. Extremely happy and
satisfied with this unit. Easy set up, easy operation, OUTSTANDING picture quality. Also,
the size is crazy good - small enough to easily carry around everywhere you go and tucks
into a coat pocket nicely. Haven't tried the software yet, but will probably go with other
software to create movies and burn DVDs anyway.

Awesome little camera -- just what I needed it to do for a great price. Simple to operate with
great video quality. Picture images could use some work as it surely it won't replace a
images from a dedicated camera. Reviews about the poor out-of-the-box battery are
accurate. Planning on getting a bigger battery and memory card. Loving it so far!

Great HD Camera |

Very good HD Camcorder. HD Clear picture. In low light the picture isn't as
clear, but its "low light" come one! your one eyes don't see good in low light.
Turn on some more lights if you don't like the picture quality.
The touch screen really isn't that hard to use, you have to press harder on the
screen maybe than you do on your i-phone or i-pad, so unless you have a broken
finger tip, just deal with it.
Battery last long enough for any causal recording. I recorded all of Christmas,
new years and a birthday on one battery charge. You are going to edit half the
junk out anyway so just don't video for so long. Not everyone wants to watch 5
minutes of grandpa eating Christmas dinner!
I would recommend it if you are looking to get a HD camcorder for a good price,
with great quality.
