Canon Vixia HF R100 I purchased this camera from Crutchfield and it was a
great deal,came with a carry bag and memory card.
This camcorder records a great picture.I have not tried the still photo yet most
likely will not take still pix
Great customer service.
HDMI/MINI cable buy a cheap one it works great on HD TV

Camera is very compact (love the size!) and easy to figure out - very intuitive.  Has the
functions I want plus then some for home videos, which is what I will mainly be using it
for.  The included software is very limited and videos editited with it can not be used on
many systems.  This is the biggest negative.  Now I have to try and search for better
software - would have been much nicer if better software came bundled with product so
camera would be really ready to use.

The reason for the 2 star rating is because there's a lot left to be desired on this camera. One, I don't care for the fact that it doesn't have an eye piece for viewing through. It's just what I am used to. It's difficult to look at the screen and find your object and zoom in on it. The second thing I don't like is that it has no light whatsoever, or a "night mode" setting. It has a picture mode for stills. Well, what good is that when most are taken indoors and require a flash? It is terrible in low light settings. I got it to film hunts and we who take up the sport know how important low light settings are.  Exporting your videos in order to view them is a pretty slow process as well if your computer isn't equipped to handle the conversion. There's no way to view the footage without it being choppy until you export it. Get a second battery backup because it does seem to drain quickly. About the only things I do like about the camera are the price, size, functions, placement of the buttons, quality once it's exported, and the ability to remove the SD card to load my footage onto the computer, however, this process is a bit slow as well. I would think twice about getting this, depending on what you are looking to get out of your video camera and what you intend to use it for.
