I have one of these in my SUV running with a JL1000/1v2 amp which together are a perfect match. Before this I had it running off a RF T1500-bdCP amp. Being 3 ohms it works with either amp great and I rarely smelled the voice coil. This sub and it's fine HO enclosure is mainly for people who appreciate accurate and deep bass. It is not the loudest sub I've heard and may not resonate at the middle frequencies as well as others, but it Definitely has pounding "super lows" and even some pretty good highs. I would have given it 5 stars if it had higher sensitivity. It may not be as loud as a 12" Solobaric , but it has it beat for SURE in sound quality. One of these W7's probably equals the output of two 10" Type-R's in terms of loudness. I enjoy this sub a lot, but I also like my two L7 Kickers in my daily driver car. This JL sub will treat your ears and rattle the car, but may not have super high SPL at all freqencies. It IS quality-built and reliable though. It'll take a beating, just make sure you have room for it!

JL audio has outdone themselves with this sub its by far the cleanest sounding and most powerful sub ive ever owned. i only have a 500w amp and my 12in w7 is still plenty powerful. if you buy this sub i guarantee u wont be disappointed.

Who Needs Trunk Space?
This thing is out of control.. I have finally found the sub i've been looking for.
I bought the 10" JL W7 and was impressed but wanted more. I returned the 10" and got this beast. Sounds great I got it installed locally and the guy was laughing like a little girl during the Demo.
Unfortunately I have a 07' Maxima and Basically had to cut the trunk apart to fit this beast in.. it was worth the stress.
I bought the 750HD amp for the 10" sub and felt it should still do the trick for the 12" and I was not disappointed.
If you got the money its worth it.. I just wish my friends would shut up and stop telling me to turn it down.. Thanks Crutchfield!!!

In my time working, I probably sold over 100 subs, and I can simply say that JL Audio was the finest product I sold--that includes home equipment as well.
In the standard box, this sub fits very neatly into the hatchback of most cars--even very small ones. I would always recommend the JL "Slash Series" 1000/1 amp; it works well with this speaker's impedance, and reliably delivers over 1000 true watts of power.
First, on performance. I demoed this subwoofer professionally with everything from Nelly to jazz to blues to even classical. It performed flawlessly on every single piece I ever played through it. Although it is certainly capable of overwhelming power--it is capable of over 4 inches of travel on a hit-what really sells this woofer to me is that the bass is tight, clean, and perfectly controlled, even on complex passages. It is just as capable of reproducing the timbre of a bass guitar as the power of modern rap.
Another powerful argument for this sub is that it is above all reliable. I saw too, too many subs return to our shop--blown voice coils, ripped frames, problem after problem. In all my time at the company i saw ONE JL audio W7 driver returned. It turned out the customer did the install himself; badly.
This series is one of the absolute top guns of this industry--I'd recommend them to anyone who wants top-quality bass.

I recently purchased this beast and put it in my ford focus. I had to Dynamat my trunk, then got an alpine thousand watt amp and all i can say is WOW. The bass is so clean.
