I installed these as direct replacement in my wifes Accord a few weeks ago. We decided to keep the factory receiver. The install went much faster than expected. The overall sound quality is great, she has mentioned that she used to have the volume higher than now, and the mids and highs are crystal clear. BUT..... We now have no bass. She since has kept the bass setting maxed out and we still don't get but half the bass we used to. At first she asked if we could put the old speakers back in, she has also mentioned the need for a sub. I am hoping they will loosen up and sound better after a few more weeks. Overall we are happy (I think)but we may be spending more money soon

JL Audio Rocks! Surprising for 6x9's |

I replaced my factory door 6x9's in my 2006 Xterra with these (I used the 5.25 JL from this series for the rear) and the sound and range is amzing! I was blown away. I am using a Kenwood head unit and 4x60 amplifier.
The sound using FM or satellite radio is quite clearer and much richer through the range. I only have the gains on the amp turned up about 1/3 and it is plenty for these speakers.
The real sound difference is when you plug in an ipod or use a CD (do they still make those?), WOW! the bass response at good volume (fairly loud) is incredible for what these are. They will not replace a sub for those wanting true deep earth shaking bass, but if you just want clean sound and good range, these deliver very tight response with bright highs and smooth mids. I would definitely reccommend them.

Installed in a 2000 Honda Accord EX-L Sedan |

I installed these bad boys in a 2000 Honda Accord EX-L Sedan. They were a perfect fit. I didn't have to modify anything and was able to use the same screws I unscrewed from the factory 6x9's. All the holes lined up.
I also purchased the Honda speaker harnesses from CF and was able to easily snap my speakers into the factory speaker harnesses. No messing around with stripped wires or crimping. I was able to install both in less than 30 minutes.
It didn't take long to break these speakers in (just a couple hours of bass heavy music) and these speakers sound very clear and loud. The bass wasn't as "boomy" as some of the reviews would have you believe but it is definitely there and it is quite punchy and tight. Many people enjoy this type of bass, I tend to like it more boomy. You can achieve boomy bass of you push your bass levels to the max (+7), but that's not recommended. I keep my level at +3 or +4 and they sound good.
I have an Alpine HU and I am using the Alpine 445 power pack amp to boost all four of my channels to 45w RMS. With 45w RMS these speakers can get very loud with very little distortion, if any. The mids and the highs are probably these speakers shinning asset.
Unless you want to pay out another 100 dollars for some speakers with a bit more bass, I'd recommend these speakers for daily use. They have filled my car with rich sounding audio.

I have a 2005 Accord coupe and replaced my factory speakers with these about 2 months ago. These speakers sound incredible even off of deck power. I originally bought these with the intention of replacing them as soon as I replaced the rest of my system but after 1 listen they get to stay. I'm going to be replacing my front speakers with a C5 component set and installing a JL 500/5 amp along with a 10W3 or the flat 12 when it hits the market along with a clean sweep and a cap. You can NOT go wrong with these speakers. I run live sound and the JL stuff impresses me which rarely ever happens. Thanks to JL for desiging a speaker for SQ first and SPL as an after thought cause 35 year old kids are more worried about what it sounds like in the car than 6 blocks away! And thank you CF for having harnesses so I didn't have to wack my factory harness up!

I have had this model JL 6X9 in the back of my Saab 9000 for almost 5 years and they sound just as sweet as the day I put them in. Currently they are hooked up to my Alpine CDA-9813 (of the same vintage) with 4in JLs in the dash and 2 JL 10w1v2 subs running off a JL 250/1v2. This setup sounds amazing and the 6X9s do not distort even at high volume levels.
If you are shopping for a 6X9 speaker that will last a long time and produce deep and detailed sound, look no further than these JLs...you will not be disappointed!
