I installed this system on Sunday and am still finding more things to adjust. Lets start from the top, the one thing I love about this deck is the real volume control knob, I like the control you get with a knob better, also there are 3 side push buttons for click and go of the main features (NAVIGATE, SCREEN and FUNC) which get you to the things you need quickly, start up time on this system is pretty fast, it is ready in about 30-40 seconds, the display is very nice crisp and clean, I connected a 40 Gig external drive to it with a lot of music and now I have instant access to a MEGA Music store, GPS navigation is very quick, screen redraws are almost instantly, DVD , well that is awesome as well, while playing a DVD just touch the screen and navigate the on screen menus to skip chapters, press it again they disappear, the main selection screen is well thought out and easy to navigate, to get to any functions of this deck, just press the side SRC button and you are at the main screen, Now for the amplifier section, 22 Watts RMS, 50 Max, well lets just say it is exactly what you would expect from a high end unit like this, it sounds like I have one of my Carver amps hooked to it, I think I could smell the Voice coils in my speakers burning, Very nice. Guess ill be buying some new speakers soon. So for the BIG picture, Awesome.
Thanks Crutchfield Staff, you have found new long time customer.

There are no complaints from me. This unit is incredible. First of all Garmin is the best navigation system, period (i have used many). The menu access is typical to most electronics today. You have to READ the manual before you start navigating around the menus. Once you have an understanding, it's a breeze. I have a 1st generation Ipod which won't work. I have done the research and knew this and are planning on purchasing a new Ipod. Bluetooth is perfect. I drive a HD Long-bed crew cab and the back up camera is a god send. I use my truck for business and is a great safety tool that all commercial vehicles should have. No more worries about running over people while backing up! The Crutchfield support team and even sales are undeniably the best. Plan a full day for installation and take your time! Do the job right by soldering, shrink tubing and zip tying wires and neatly tuck away. All will think it was professionally done. Basic wiring skills help, but if you read the installation instructions thoroughly, you'll have no problems installing this unit. Once again, thanks Crutchfield.

This is the second kenwood that I have had problems with in just one year. The first one crutchfield took good care of me and replaced the unit within three days as for the second one I have to pull out and ship to a repair center and who knows how long I will have to ride around with out the stereo. Due to the problems that I have had with the kenwood system I would not recomend buying this brand i know this will be the last one I buy.when it works its great! But just wait it will break on you.I just wish crutchfield could have done more for me. I am dissatified at this point.

Vehicle: 2001 Mustang Cobra. I have been a Pioneer guy for awhile but after I installed a F-90BT in my 08 F150 even with the new firmware update it was still sluggish. So I thought I would give the 6140 a shot in my other vehicle. Garmin is user friendly but compared with the Pioneer TeleAtlas maps route times were about the same, also the Pioneer had more options to choose from when getting specific like highway, u-turns, etc... Searching was easier in the F90 as well when you just know the name of the place, too many button presses to get where you want in the 6140 it seemed. Bluetooth works good in both units on my Wifes iPhone and my AT&T Tilt. 6140 doesn't have SDcard upfront like the Pioneer and the F90 was WAY cheaper! My biggest issue was iPod functionality. The F90 is awesome with iPod control and no iTunes library modification was necessary. The 6140 however took me back to the issues of my old Pioneer D3 which doesn't read the iPod correctly thus you have to change the artist name to #-Z that way you don't spend hours looking through all the artist and this helps you narrow it down. Once you find the artist then you would have had to renamed the album in you library as well. Looks like this! A; Alice in Chains - Jar of Flies; songs...Nobody seems to have mentioned this when its the worst feature!

I have been using the 6140 for about two months now in my 2003 Chevy Tahoe and all I can say is, perfect. Kenwood is using Garmin navigation (best of the best) and the navigation screens are fairly configurable so you can select what information appears on the right side of the screen.
The Bluetooth phone system works perfectly, it paired up with my LG Dare (Verizon) right away and the audio quality is expectable as is the user interface. The only negative I have is the mic cable could have been just a bit longer. This would have allowed me to place the mic right next to the OnStar mic on the overhead console.
My Tahoe has the factory Bose audio system and the 6140 woke up the Bose sub-woofer, wow, does it sound nice, even at low volumes there is ample bass.
The most significant feature for me is the iPod interface. I had an older Kenwood system and the iPod interface was just about worthless. Not the case here, I can easily navigate play list, artist, and videos on my iPod.
Installation went very well, no problems at all. I used the Metra GM LAN interface so the installation was almost a plug and play. The only issue I have is getting the unit to dim. I wired the dimmer wire from the 6140 to the Metra interface but when the vehicle lights go on, no dimming.
I selected this model because it had the traditional volume control knob. In my opinion and based on the features of this unit I use, you can go wrong with this choice.
