I've used Kicker for some time. They always satisfy me and I know what I'm getting. The Comp series seems to take all the power that I have to throw at it, but I don't have too much to throw. It's more sensitive than the CVR series. For an entry level sub driver, I don't think you can beat them. They are definately better in several respects than the JL entry level subs I had, which fell apart and didn't bump like the Comp. I'm using the 10", 8 ohm version in the house with some bookshelf speakers. I''m using the slot port box design that Kicker provides in the Technical Manual, which you can find online if you search. It balances just right and I'm very happy with the result. I have 2 12s in the car and it's all I expected it to be.
[Advice: in my opinion, forget that 2 ohm business with any sub. As far as I can tell, the more resistance, the more the load captures and uses the power the amp is producing. An amp only produces more power under low resistance because the low impedence sub isn't capturing it, so it flows right through.]

Do not be skeptical. These things are so dang loud i could easily overpower my music with the bass. Powered by a Fosgate P450.2 225w rms per sub in a sealed box 1 cu. ft. per speaker. I could only imagine how great these would sound in a ported box! Give them 200w a piece and plug your ears.

Picked up a pair of the 8 ohm version to be used with a JL 360.2. Subs running bridged at 4 ohm. They are in an undersized and stuffed enclosure with 1 cubic foot per driver. They work just fine in this configuration. Bass impact is massive and low end extension is not noticeably reduced by the smaller enclosure. They dig quite deep. The JL amp is equally impressive, pushing the subs to near full excursion at about 2/3 gain. Quite a clean little powerhouse - very impressed.
I highly recommend these woofers. While certainly an entry level price the performance is anything but. The only reason to spend more would be to utilize a smaller enclosure. If you have 1 - 1.25 cubic feet to work with per driver save your money and pop for these.

I picked up a pair of these and threw them in a vented box. I went with the 8 Ohm version because my JL Audio 250/1 amp is 250 watts RMS no matter what the Ohm load is. So I wired them in parallel for a nice easy 4 Ohm load to the amp. These subs BUMP and are also nice and punchy. They play way louder than the THREE 10"subs they replaced.
I have had many different subs in my cars since I got my license 21 years ago, and these Kickers sound better than most that cost me twice as much if not more. I call that Bang 4 the Buck performance. Buy these Kickers!
