RF commands pass through walls and floors, just like AM and FM radio signals. When you add this extender, you can use your Harmony remote to control your system from a different part of the house — great for folks who have a multi-room audio setup. Or keep your components out of sight in an enclosed cabinet, and use your Harmony remote for convenient access.

Bought along with 890 Pro as our equipment is in the basement but we need to control TV and sound on the first floor living area.  Works great!  Only issue is that everytime you change the program (even one button on the menu) on the remote, you have to re-sync the Extender too (unplug from system, plug into USB, download software, plug back into system)  but beats having all that equipment in the living room!

 
excellent for hiding components February-09-09

bought this with the harmony 1000 remote. all my components are now hidden away in a closet. i used the IR emitters over the the sensors of each component rather than mounting the extender on the wall across from them so nothing can block the signal. the remote seems to work from every room in the house
