I ordered this receiver while it was on backorder and it came in right on time. So far it has been a great replacement for my 20 year old amp that finally gave out. Setup was a breeze, the documentation was actually quite good. The sound is great and I am only using it in stereo for now. This has made a nice upgrade. I plan to use the HDMI inputs later, once I have the office completed.
I was also very impressed with the customer service from Crutchfield. I received a hand- written card thanking me for the order, due to the back-order of the unit, as well as a letter in the box from Crutchfield, apologizing for the out-of-stock item. The excellent service is why I choose to purchase this from Crutchfield and will continue to order many more items in the future!

I bought this because I wanted to put together an entry level home theater system and not break the bank in doing so. I got this shipped to my door which was a pretty darn good deal considering how nice this thing is. Tons of inputs on the back, and unlike a lot of other entry level receivers, IT CAN ACTUALLY USE HDMI FOR AUDIO! Has plenty of power and amazing customization options. You can adjust the EQ settings for each individual section (front, center, surround, subwoofer) which is awesome because my center speaker is little but my front speakers have big woofers in the bottom so I turned the bass up on that channel only and it sounds awesome! Still haven't gotten around to reading the manual, so I don't know what most of the different sound modes are, but it's pretty easy to figure out which works for what I'm watching (some are even labeled like "Videogame-RPG, Videogame-Action, Music-Rock, etc" so you can basically just tell it exactly what your watching and it has an EQ setting for that!
So overall I'm very happy with this receiver and would recommend it to anyone looking to put together a nice HT setup :)

I purchased two of these units just over a year ago. Both are having the same trouble. That is the HDMI inputs refuse to recognize anything but the TV input. PS3/ Wii/ DVD's all come up searching for signal. They both worked fine until recently. Some internet research indicates this is not an uncommon problem for this unit. I'm here shopping for a new one to replace it.

I've owned this for roughly one week and I love it so much that I had to jump on here to write a review.
This receiver is all I wanted and more. Excellent sound, great power, convenient connectivity, what else do you need? I was skeptical about the Audyssey feature while reading about it. It sounded more like some sort of gimmick than something that would truly perform. Let me tell you it works perfectly! Audyssey is now one of my favorite features of this receiver. It takes roughly 5 minutes and very little work to run. When finished you have each speaker distance and EQ set exact. So simple! Get ready to turn it up and hear full, balanced, distortion free sound! I didn't know much about Onkyo going into this purchase, but they have certainly made me a believer in their product quality. Buy it! You won't regret it!
I also can't say enough about Crutchfield's customer service. They go above and beyond to make sure you are completely satisfied with your purchase. Their staff is extremely knowledgeable and will help steer you in the right direction. I experienced an issue with a different receiver I purchased from them a few weeks back (it was defective and another name brand.) The Crutchfield reps allowed me to return the bad product and upgrade to this incredible Onkyo receiver. The shipping and return transactions were completed very fast. I am a very satisfied customer.

Bought this receiver a few months ago because my old receiver didn't have HDMI capability. I'm currently only running a 3 speaker system and it works fantastic, no problems at all. Easy to hook up. Loads of settings that you can adjust. My parents bought their onkyo receiver about 5-6 years ago and its running perfect.
