Description Crutchfield Hands-on Research Accessories

We carry cell phone kit harnesses that allow simple, plug-in connection of Parrot's Bluetooth car kits in a wide variety of vehicles.

Parrot's MKi9200 Bluetooth car kit links your compatible phone to just about any car stereo for hands-free calling through your car's speakers. It offers control over many portable music sources, including the iPod® and iPhone™.

But this is not your ordinary Bluetooth car kit — you'll also hear high-quality audio from all your portables, including music streamed from your phone along with files stored on USB drives or SD cards. And if you want to treat your eyes as well as your ears, the MKi9200's full-colour 2.4" display provides you with album artwork and your own favourite images to go along with the music.

Easy to install
The kit consists of three main components: a mute box that installs beneath the dashboard, a remote control keypad, and the display panel. The mute box connects to your stereo system with a vehicle-specific harness and to the display panel with a single wire. The MKi9200 connects to your Bluetooth phone automatically once you start your car. For those who carpool with other Bluetooth users, the MKi9200 can handle up to five Bluetooth devices at once.

Talk with the MKi9200
With many phones, the voice-recognition software remembers up to 150 names from your address book — just say a name and the MKi9200 dials the number instantly. Using built-in text-to-speech technology, the MKi9200 can announce the names of your contacts, so you can browse through your phonebook or check out who's calling without taking your eyes off the road.

See and hear everything clearly
The MKi9200 mutes your car stereo when a call comes in, ensuring clear sound over your car's speakers. The included microphones feature noise-reducing technology that lets you speak clearly without having to shout. The MKi9200's screen displays phone numbers, caller names and images, and music information, including album covers and your favourite photos. You can easily remove the screen for safekeeping in the included carrying pouch when you're not in the car.

The MKi9200's built-in amplifier works in place of your factory radio's power section, for sound quality that surpasses other adapters and kits. You can bypass this feature if you're running an amplified or aftermarket system to keep the high-octane sound you've already got.

Convenient operation
The MKi9200 will guide you through dialing, accessing your phonebook, voicemail, and other phone functions while you concentrate on driving. You can use the keypad's scroll-knob to control the volume and browse menus, or to rewind, fast-forward, or jump to another song.

A wealth of portable music options
You'll find several connections for your portable music devices. The USB input works with newer iPods or other MP3 players. Simply connect your player and leave it in the glove compartment — you can control all the action from the keypad. The display screen also includes a SecureDigital™ memory card slot, so you can access tunes from your own cards. And an auxiliary input accepts audio from almost any music source.

Note: Compatibility of this device may vary, depending on your phone and service provider.

Just what I needed!! January 14, 2010

I had limited experience with installing a car radio/ add on. After speaking  with your sales department I was encouraged to install this unit myself. My  vehicle needed a wiring harness which made the installation very easy. I  called your techical department twice just to make sure I was doing it right.  They were very helpful and patient with my concerns. The installation took  me about 3 hours. I am still learning all of the functions of this unit but I am  pleased with it so far. It's just what I needed. I have even encouraged  friends to get one and will help with their installation.

WOW! What a nice add-on December 16, 2009

We installed this in my wife's 04 Suburban so she would be able to safely  talk on the phone while driving. We were pleasantly surprised by the sound  quality of phone calls. We were even more surprised by the sound quality of  music played through this unit from my iPhone 3G (using the ipod  connector), and her Blackberry 8300 (using the line-in connector.) SUPERB  SOUND!!! My wife says the music sounds better than radio or satellite radio  or cd; I agree with her.

The install took me 5 hours and was not for the feint of heart. I have done  several car audio installs and had all of the necessary tools. I also bought  an amplified harness (an extra $150) to help me and ensure all functions  were enabled. Our Suburban has the premium Bose system and required a  tougher install. If you are not ABSOLUTELY sure that you know what you  are doing then get a professional to install this.  I will buy these units for every vehicle I own form here on out! Awesome  item!

The Parrot is a superb unit with many useful features.  Installation is very  easy with the purchase of custom cables.  The Parrot is easy to set up with  the useful menus.

A previous review stated that the provided adhesive for the display module  was not useful.  That is my experience also but is easily resolved with a  purchase of 3M two-sided foam tape.

The greatest source of frustration is from cell telephone manufacturers who  simply don't want to provide support beyond their own case.  It would be  very nice if Parrot would provide information on other Bluetooth devices and  their interaction with them.

I would definitely reccommend the Parrot '9200 to anyone considering the  purchase of a solid telephone interface.

Using with IPhone 3GS. Hands free phone worked very well from beginning. Had trouble with Ipod staying muted. Upgraded to latest IPhone and Parrot firmware with resolution of problem most of the time. Still have muting problems occassionally. Seems to resolve with disconnecting then reconnecting IPhone cable. Instructions for updating Parrot were not clear. Can not connect Parrot directly to PC. Have to download upgrade from PC to flash memory stick then connect memory stick to Parrot USB cable.

I was looking for a bluetooth hands free unit and iPod/iPhone integration. I looked at the Alpine product but did not like the fact that it does not work with the iPhone 3G. Also, you must have an aux-in to have acceptable sound. I bought the Parrot MKi9200 and installed it myself. This was very easy since I bought adapters.
Overall the product performs well, I was surprised by the sound quality since the blue box that houses the electronics and amp is so small and light...
The display is easy to place anywhere but the tape that is supplied to stick it does not last longer than a few days. The cable holds it in place so it is not a big issue for me but it can be if the display does not rest on a surface.
Somehow my iPhone 3G does not charge nor connects using the cable. Bluetooth works fine and the sound quality of incoming and outgoing calls is very good.
I will try to download latest software to fix the iPhone 3G issue.
Also at times the iPod I connected starts playing the first track on the iPod instead of starting where it left off.
Apart from the issues mentioned above I am satisfied with the unit but I expect Parrot to work on those glitches.
