Although crutchfield says they will not fit my car (2006 Subaru Forester), I was able to install them by drilling new holes. Wow I am so happy with my purchase. These speakers are worth every penny. Some people say these do not have bass, it's definitely enough bass for me for the type of music I play. Not sure if they has anything to do with the type of aftermarket head unit I have or not. Get these speakers.

WOW! What an upgrade from the OEM speakers of my 1998 Buick Riviera. The sounds are now as good as the car looks. Installation was a snap, perfect fit. Left the original tweeter in place, but cut the wire since no longer needed with these 2-way speakers.

Clean but no Bass |

The speakers have some crisp highs and mids, but lack bass. My OEM Jeep speaks had more bass, but then again they were a bit larger. Its ok, as I will be adding a sub. For the XJ you can probably go with a larger speaker in front, I had to use some washers because the speaker mounting tabs were too small to reach both posts, I also drilled another hole for a third tab. They do fit in the rear sound bar of an XJ, but again they are a bit smaller, can probably go bigger.

These speakers do lack bass. I considered that my old stock 98 OEM Jeep speakers were just muddy sounding but that's not it. The speakers sound very crisp and can tale volume from my budget Clarion. Install was way easy so do it your self. I don't mind the bass absence because I don't need it for my listening the majority of which is audiobooks. For the price point these are better than a good buy.

After finding mice ate the speakers in my 1998 FLHT Harley-Davidson this winter I replaced them with the Pioneer 5 1/4 TS-G1343-R . They are a direct fit and made a great upgrade to the system. I hope to add a Sirius/XM receiver now that the speakers sound great
