A very musical speaker; could possibly be the last tower speakers you'll ever buy. The sound is very neutral and consistent from top to bottom. The bass is accurate and natural, but has the ability to take charge for more demanding audio tracks, and can go down to 20 hz quite comfortably. The Cherry Finish is beautiful and will blend well with other shades of wood. For the quality of product, the price is very reasonable. Also, they will sound very bright if under-powered. Moving them around can be awkward because of the shape and size of the cabinets, so save yourself the trouble and get someone to help you move them...use gloves. The RTi A9's are very capable speakers; however you should give just as much consideration to your other equipment. NO commercially-available receiver will do these towers justice because they have so many drivers. I originally bi-amped them with a TX-NR906 (~290 watts/channel.one of the most powerful ones out there), and while the sound was decent, it was obvious that my receiver could not fully control the entire range of the speaker in addition to the demands of the other speakers in my HT system. I highly recommend that you use quality amplifiers (such as XPA-1's) if you desire to use the RTi A9's as they were meant to be used.

Clear and Even Sound but Bass Needs Help |

These are really well made and high-quality speakers, and I like them. They seem to require significant power to maximize the bass and probably should be bi-amped. Their forte is mid-range and smooth high-end but not bass. I will have to connect my powered sub to augment the deficiency. This is pretty much par for the course for Polk. Recommended, but get a sub to be completely happy.

I got these bad boys because I like to play my music LOUD and let me tell you. My whole music collection sounds new again. I cranked up Joe Bonamassa when I hooked these up and my dear Lord !! I replaced 4 McIntosh ML-1C speakers I had since the 80's and was sad to see them go, but my expectations were more than met. They just come alive when you put the power to them. I have 2 NAD amps bridged to put out two mono sources of 300 watts and man alive, my friends sat there in utter disbelief. You aren't going to get the potential out of these if you have some wussy little receiver driving these. The crispness and spacial sound stage these things produce are stunning. If you got the space and the place, buy them now. You won't be sorry. Thanks Crutchfield, for a very pleasant experience.

Absolutely amazing!!! Cherry finish is spectacular. Speakers are huge and very impressive even without any sound coming from them. Crutchfield delivered on time and without any issues. I had these for a week now and am still breaking them in. I purchased these exclusively for 2 channel stereo, but since I have a polk surround system, I am breaking them in on that and they blend seamlessly. I couldn't resist putting a few cd's in my bluray palyer to hear some 2 channel stereo and I am absolutely blown away with the range of sound, I hear so much more off familiar cd's than I have ever before. I turned the tv on a jazz listening station (im a rock guy) an oh my goodness, they are awesome. the highs are there, the lows are there, and everything in between is there. I have been using these in surround mode with my sub turned off, so I can check the bass on these babies and its definately there, of course for movies you need a sub, but for music, I dont think I will. I haven't cranked these puppies up yet to some heavy Metallica yet, at least not loud, but I can already tell they have what it takes. Im so glad I went with Polks flagship model. Thank you Crutchfield, and thank all of you who post reviews to make this purchase much easier. I love my Polks.

RTi A9s Rock House! |

I never liked watching BR movies on my Sony LCD with the dinky sound. Some great floor standing speakers were in order. After a lot of research, I decided to take the plunge on a pair of speakers that would do justice to the home theater setup. The RTi A9's do the job extremely well and the double set of wire ports in the back tells you these were built for bi-amping (http://community.crutchfield.com/blogs/av_tips/archive/2008/04/23/are-you-sitting-on-a-wealth-of-untapped-power.aspx). It's something you should take full advantage of along with a good receiver to handle all that power.
All you have to do now is put in "Apocalypse Now" on BR, cue up to the "Ride of the Valkyries" helicopter scene and experience nirvana. :)
