Power Protection

Inexpensive power strips simply don't give you reliable protection, and they don't give you any filtering for a cleaner signal. Here are some that will.

The Sony DAV-X1V at the special pricing is a very good system for my needs.  I did not want to be running cables all over the place for the rear speackers and wireless still need wires running between speakers.  The surround simulation gives me all I needed and wanted from the DVD's that I watch.  With a 5 disc changer and better adjustable tones, the Sony matches or exceeds my BOSE 1-2-3 at half the price.  It can not match my stereo system but then the TV is not in the same area and I personally don't have a need to do more with the sound.

The Sony DAV-X1V is a great product and can match most home theater systems out there.  The digital ability makes this a great choice.

Sony over Denon February 22, 2007
Reviewer: John from West Texas
After recently purchasing a Samsung LNS 4051 (great TV by the way) I was looking for the perfect home entertainment system to go along with it.  Our house is pushing 100 years old so wiring and placing a 5.1 system was out of the question.  After about 3 weeks of looking and reviewing I had my choices narrowed down to the Bose 321, the Denon S-301, and the Sony DAV-X1.  After looking at the Bose I felt it was all bark and no bite meaning they have a great reputation and it sounded ok, but the DVD player was mediocre at best.  The Denon S-301 sounded better than the Sony DAV-X1 but the Sony had a better picture because of the upconvert versus progressive scan.  I was torn and had decided on the Denon until I noticed Sony's NEW model...the DAV-X1V.  The X1V has all the whistles and bells as the X1 with the addition of a 5 disc changer.  That was enough to persuade me to buy the Sony and I have been pleased.  The unit has an audio in jack on the front if you want to listen to a mp3 player but I bought it to watch movies and never plan on playing an I-Pod on it.  Other people on other models have complained of "freezing" caused by a HMI cable but I have not had a single issue.  It is a great unit and I would buy another, but my only complaint has been hearing voices during certain movie scenes with the absence of a true center channel...not a big issue given that I complained about it on my previous system.
