System Overview:
The Sony DAV-X1V is an integrated system that includes a five-disc
DVD/SACD/Video CD/Audio CD player/receiver, two front surround speakers and a passive subwoofer.
The supplied remote controls the system, plus multiple brands of televisions and
cable boxes.
Features
S-Master Digital
Amplifier: This unit is powered by the S-Master Full Digital Amplifier. The
amplifier processes audio signals from HDTV broadcasts, DVD, SACD, or other
digital sources, and amplifies them entirely in the digital domain. This design
is highly efficient, producing minimal heat, while taking up 1/4
of the space of conventional amplifiers. The amplifier has the following power
output specifications:
S-FORCE Pro 2.1
Surround Technology: The DAV-X1V system produces a 3D surround sound field by
using advanced signal processing and sound wave phasing. This is accomplished
with only two speakers and a passive subwoofer. The system includes a setup disc to play through the speakers to test the surround effect.
The system also includes an auto calibration mic to help with setup.
Five Disc Changer
System: The DVD changer section of the integrated receiver/DVD changer
consists of a playing unit and a stocker, which transports the discs to the disc
slot and playing unit. When discs are not being played, they are stored in the
stocker.
Disc Capability:
The integrated DVD/Receiver can playback the following discs.
Super Audio CD:
The DAV-X1V is equipped with a DSD (Direct Stream Digital) decoder to enable
SACD playback. DSD encodes music at 2,822,400 samples per second, allowing you
to hear sound with incredible detail and clarity. Many Super Audio CDs have
multi-channel and 2-channel SACD playback layers as well as a conventional CD
playback layer. In the Stop mode, you can select which layer of the disc you
wish to play.
MP3 Playback: This unit will
play MP3 files recorded onto CD-ROM, CD-R and CD-RW discs using the ISO 9660
level 1/level 2 and Joliet formats. Each disc can have a maximum of 200 albums
and each album can have a maximum of 300 tracks.
JPEG Playback: This unit will
play JPEG files recorded onto CD-ROM, CD-R and CD-RW discs using the ISO 9660
level 1/level 2 and Joliet formats. All JPEG files on a disc can be played back
in a slide show with or without audio. Additionally, you can rotate any selected
image 90 degrees clockwise or counterclockwise. Each disc can have a maximum of
200 albums and each album can have a maximum of 300 images.
Playback Features: The DVD
player portion offers scan, slow-motion and freeze frame playback.
Search Features: The DVD player
portion features the following search modes - Title, Chapter, Index, Track,
Album, File, Scene and Time/Text.
Disc Skip: This feature allows
you to change the other four discs while playing a disc.
Replay: This feature allows you
to instantly replay the previous scene during playback.
Instant Advance: This feature
allows you to briefly fast forward the current scene during playback.
Program Play: You can play the
contents of your CD in the order you want by arranging the order of the tracks
on the disc to create your own program. You can program up to 99 tracks.
Shuffle Play: You have the
system shuffle tracks in random order. You can shuffle tracks on a single disc
or single program.
Repeat Play: You can play all
the titles, tracks or albums on a disc or a single title, chapter, track or
album repeatedly. You can combine repeat mode with the program or shuffle modes.
Resume Play: This
feature allows you to resume playback of a disc from the point where you last
stopped. The stopping point is cleared from memory if you remove the disc,
change the play mode, change the setting on the Setup Menu, or press the Stop
button a second time.
Multi-Disc Resume Play: For DVD
Video and Video CD only, the DAV-X1V system can store the point where you stopped
the disc for up to 40 discs, and resume playback the next time you insert the
disc. If you store the resume playback point for a 41st disc, the resume point
is deleted for the first disc. The Multi-Disc Resume feature can be turned
on/off in the menu.
PBC (Playback Control) Playback:
PBC playback (Ver.2.0) allows you to play Video CDs and Super Video CDs interactively by following the menu on
the TV screen. You cannot use Program Play, Shuffle Play, or Repeat Play with
Video CDs and Super VCDs with PBC playback.
HDMI Output: The
receiver/amplifier is equipped with an HDMI (High Definition Multimedia

the rear panel and the AUDIO jack on the front panel.
D.C.A.C. (Digital
Cinema Auto Calibration): D.C.A.C. can set the appropriate surround sound
automatically. The system uses an auto calibration microphone to automatically
set speaker distances and audio levels for the speakers and subwoofer according
to your room environment. The microphone should be placed in the main listening
location at ear level. The front of each speaker should face parallel to the
calibration mic and there should be no obstruction between them. Note: Do
not connect other microphones to this unit as it may cause damage to the system.

to your favourite stations without having to tune them in manually each time. You
can assign a name of up to 10 characters for each preset. FM tuning is done in
0.1MHz steps and AM tuning is done at 10kHz steps. You can also directly
access stations from the number pad on the remote control.
Speakers
Speaker System: The system's
speakers are driven by multiple discreet channels to create a surround effect
with only 2 speakers and a subwoofer. Each satellite speaker and the subwoofer
have unique dual drivers. Driven by the 2.1-channel S-FORCE PRO front surround
technology, the speaker system reproduces a convincing sense of distance and
space, resulting in a true surround experience without the need for rear
speakers.
Digital Direct Twin Drive Passive Subwoofer: The
magnetically shielded passive
subwoofer features dual 6" drivers in a bass reflex enclosure. One driver fires
toward the front while the other driver fires downward. In the menu, you can
independently adjust the level of the subwoofer between -6dB and +6dB in 1dB
increments.
Front "Surround" Speakers: The
front speakers each feature two 2" cone drivers and one 1" balanced
tweeter. The drivers are set at different angles to help create the surround
effect. On the back of the speakers you will find a proprietary 4-pin terminal
and a 5mm threaded insert. The speakers come with a detachable tabletop speaker
stand and can also be wall mounted with optional wall brackets (sold separately)
using the 5mm threaded insert. The front speakers are video
shielded, allowing you to place them close to a TV without creating picture
distortion.
Speaker Dimension With Tabletop
Stands: Height = 4.308", Width = 7.157", Depth = 5.782"
Remote
Control
Multibrand Remote: The
DAV-X1V
comes with a remote (RM-ADP013) that is pre-programmed to operate this system
and a number of functions on different brands of TVs and cable boxes. The remote
