I bought this to replace the failed factory casette in my Cherokee. I didn't need the USB or remote of the more expensive Sony units, and was pleased to get the same amps and chassis at a bargain price. I had already upgraded the factory speakers - Alpine 5 1/4 in front and Polk 6 x 9 in the back - and this unit really made a difference. Clean clear sound...a little cluncky to scroll through the set-up menu - but it really shines once its all done. A specially nice feature is the adjustable bass roll off for the front speakers - so the bass doesn't overpower the smaller speakers. You can't go wrong for the price - just buy one !!

I wanted a stereo that I could plug my MP3 player into. I'm not interested in paying a ton of money for something that sounds decent, so I read the reviews on this receiver. It is so much more than I had hoped for! It sounds so much better than the factory radio that I replaced. The instructions that came with everything were awesome. I am a customer for life!

Was looking for a solid factory replacement for my 2000 Jeep Wrangler and ran across this model. Other than looking for an improvement in sound quality, the main features I needed was an aux input on the front so I could hook up my Palm Pre and the ability to play a variety of CD's (mp3, wma, etc.). The unit delivered on all counts and with Crutchfield's awesome instructions, was a snap to install. Music quality easily tripled from what my factory unit was throwing out and I picked up the ability to control my Bazooka powered subwoofer through the head unit to boot (through the preamp out RCA jacks). For some reason I did not expect a volume control for the sub...nice treat. Very solid unit and highly recommended...especially for the incredible price.

I purchased this to replace a failing OEM receiver head in a 1995 Ford Windstar with the premium sound system. Also purchased the Crutchfield adapter cables to continue to use the original external amplifier. Installation was a snap, although it took some careful reading of the specs to discover that the line output was only for the sub/rear (which I didn't fully comprehend until I received the unit). After some discussion with Crutchfield customer service, I realized that I could use 'Y' adapters to feed the front and rear channels, but I would have to give up the "fade" capability. If the specs were clearer, I probably would have opted for the CDX-GT340 instead.
Then it took some careful reading of the manual to discover how to put it into "rear" mode instead of monophonic "sub" mode (the system needs to be "off", then press and hold the volume button to access the setup menus)
