Great sound and very easy and fast hook up. I have a older HD set with only one HDMI input. New BluRay and DirecTV HD receiver go through the DH-510 with the HDMI to the TV. DirecTV tech suggested using the optical audio connection from the DirecTV receiver as well as the HDMI for true surround-sound. Easy programing with a Harmony 700. Great value.

Receiver arrived within a couple of days in excellent shape and double packaged. It was easy to set up to my large screen Plasma TV and blue ray and Directv inputs. Good selection of inputs, well layed out front and sounds great connected to my older Sony speaker system. Well worth the money and performs much better than its price tag.

Got it, hooked it up with no fuss to Bravia and PS3, using 2 HDMI cables. Set receiver's HDMI setting to auto and voila, sound from both sources with no extra cabling, exactly what we were after. Working from a pair of Bose InterAudio speakers provides great sound, especially from BD movies and PS3 games. Highly recommend especially if you have an all Sony system (and I haven't always been a big fan of Sony products in the past).

Great Reciever for the Money |

I bought this reciever to replace the reciever that came with a Sony home theatre in a box reciever bought about 8 years ago. The reciever was a piece of cake to set up. I have everything hooked up via Component Video (RGB), as the Sony Plasma it is hooked up to does NOT have HDMI. I hooked up the comcast cable box via Component Video and Optical Sound. I also hooked up a Sony DVD player via Component Video and Coax Sound. This set up took me all of 10 minutes (That included neatly zip tying the wires). I didn't have to fiddle with the sound fields, it did that for me.
All in all a great reciever for the money.

I am a long time Sony customer so it was logical I would purchase another one after the last Sony receiver lost its audio after 10 of so years frequent use. ( I had teenage boys and, I liked my rock and roll LOUD!- so it got a workout) Would I have liked to have spent triple that on a similar high end unit; yes. But why spend that amount when you are going to want new technology in 5 years or so anyway? The only dislike i can find in the short time I have used it is the scan feature for the radio- it tends to scan past the station you want and you have to back up, go forward, go back, etc., until you get the station -TOO Sensitive! Other than that, great receiver for the price!
