I bought this receiver because of the excellent price versus the features. I have not been disappointed. This is truly a great buy. I have frequently bought Sony products and have almost always had a great experience. Only once have I had a problem with a resistor in another receiver I purchased. This receiver has everything anyone could ever need unless they are blessed to have a 3D tv. Then you'll have to purchase the new 1010 model. I too have not had any HDMI switchng issues. Just a couple of seconds and your ready to operate another HDMI device. The sound is awesome and the look is sleek and stylish. Don't pay a fortune for another receiver with less features, this is what you need. Crutchfields same day shipping, super service and great prices can't be matched. They know how to take care of their customers. I will be a Crutchfield customer as long as the Lord lets me live.

I am thrilled with the beauty, sound quality and performance of this AVR. HDMI PNP plays nicely w/ my Mitsubishi TV. When I turn on/off the TV or change volume w/ TV remote the Sony AVR automatically follows along. At this price/performance it is definitely worth 5 stars.
The sound quality is stellar. Automatically identifies the best decoder available for each media and playback in Dolby Digital or DTS is crystal clear and powerful.
The receiver looks great is runs cooler than Onkyo 607 which I almost purchased but was concerned about the heat.
The negative is the remote is way overly complicated, but not really a problem since I only used it for setup and now use TV remote for everything. Also the plastic knobs for attaching speaker wire were very confusing at first. Not a typical "F" connection and a little tricky to use. Don't bother buying speaker wire connectors as I don't think the will work with this design except maybe the "flex" kind.
Setup is 5.1 4x Mirage Prestige Nanosat 1 Mirage CC 1 Infinity PS28 Mitsubishi 60" DLP

I did a bunch of research before buying this product, I have had good luck with Sony products in the past and I wanted to stay with this brand. My main reason for upgrading to a new receiver was to utilize the HD audio of my growing Blu-Ray library and all I have to say is WOW!!! What a difference between this receiver and my previous (str-DG520) receiver. The sound is very clear and defined, the movement of the sound to the various speakers is amazing. Several times I have been fooled by the surround sound thinking there was someone (or something) else in the room with me. Setup was a breeze, the auto speaker setup with the included microphone worked perfectly, it detected my (new) Energy Micro 5.1 speakers as small and set the correct distance. Another nice feture is the ability to map the remote buttons to utilize video from one source and audio from another. I was able to connect all of my components, XBox 360 via component and optical audio, Wii via component and analog audio, PS3 via HDMI and my cable TV HD DVR via optical audio. Very satisfied with this product.

I've read all other reviews and I don't have any of the issues other people are having. I have a HD DVR, Blu Ray Player, Xbox 360, and a PS3 all hooked into this unit and feeding the TV via HDMI pass thru. This was an upgrade from the STRDG910, and it works great. There are several options for set up, almost overwhelming. I only gave it 4 stars because the GUI has a really low end feel to it, and if this is your first Sony receiver it may be a little difficult to navigate menus. Other than that, great buy.

I have had several Sony STR series receivers and this current one proves to surpass all expectations. All my inputs are HDMI and use the HDMI output for excellent 1080 picture on my Sony TV. Sound mix is surperb for cable, Blu Ray and DVD. I love the automatic sound set-up.
