I just bout this on july 3rd 2009. Its ok - it is hard to find the song you want with your head unit. However, a quick tip, you can unplug your ipod at any time and find the stuff you want to listen to. Then plug it back in and it plays on your head unit. Unplug it before you shut your car off, then plug it back in after your car is on. It will play from where it was before (the beginning of the song though) unless its on shuffle - it forgets that it was on shuffle and just starts playing songs in order.
The sound is GREAT, however. MUCH better than plugging in to aux port. I would have given it 5 stars if it would have been powered while the car was off and resumed from the exact point in the song etc...

I purchased this back in December of 2006, but I crushed the cable and bought a new one. The new one works much better than the old one (they are the same model). It does not always lose my place if I unplug my music and it is fewer clicks to get where I want to be.
Using these adaptors without being able to control the iPod is only worthwhile if you have playlists set up. I pretty much just use this interface to navigate to a playlist and shuffle the playlist. If I am intent on getting to a specific song, I disconnect, find it on my iPod and reconnect.

This item works! Installation was very easy and included all necessary components. It doesn't allow easy access to all of your songs if you have long playlists. If you keep your playlists short (20 songs or so) and you remember to unplug your I-pod before you turn your stereo off, all is great. If you don't disconnect it, it always goes back to your first song. This product works hands-down better than FM tranceivers. I wish I could better access playlists and songs while on the road. It does work, with kwirks. Overall, I am happy being able to use my I-pod while in my truck.

Recently I got a new headunit which is the Sony CDX-G710 which is great headunit but I wanted to control my iPod through the headunit and also charge it. Instead of using an audio cable to connect my iPod into the front AUX port. So I brought this adapter and boy was I disappointed big time. The interface is extremely slow compared to other stereos out on the market right now. Browsing through 6500+ songs would probably take me 5 minutes because I am forced to go through every single album/artist/song and I have to hold down the button for it to do that. You cannot skip any letters so it goes through everything. The headunit does not play my iPod the way I set it as in I have a playlist playing then I connect it to the adapter and it then plays the album instead. So I am forced to go through all these settings on the headunit to make it play the playlist I was on. So overall not that great of an adapter, it is slow and interface that is seems almost impossible to use. Should have not brought this and stuck with the AUX IN and seperate charger.
