Overview Details

You can take it with you! Just because you've got a factory radio in your GM car, doesn't mean you have to leave your iPod (and the hours and hours of music it contains) at home. Just install USA SPEC's iPod interface — it not only allows you to listen to all your favourite tunes through your car's speakers, it even lets you control song and playlist selections right from your radio. And with your iPhone® connected, you can even stream music from popular Internet services like PANDORA®, Livio Radio, iHeartRadio, and more.

Just mount the compact interface box in a hidden location in your vehicle, and connect the adapter cable to the CD changer input on your compatible 1994-02 GM factory radio. Plug your iPod into the interface — you can control volume, source, song selection, and up to five different play lists right from the radio. Or switch to "Direct Mode" and use your iPod to access all your songlists. The interface also charges your iPod while it's connected.

Please enter your vehicle information or call an Advisor at 1-800-297-9469 to find out if this adapter is compatible with your vehicle. As the iPod interface uses the CD changer port, any existing changer that you have must be disconnected.

2002 Silverado 2500HD January-08-15

No issues with installing this on my 2002 Silverado 2500HD with factory radio.  This unit basically replaced the external tape deck that was in the center console (I also got the GM factory felt lined cubby from [offsiteUrl] to take the place of the tape player, part #15958735 for those of you who have the same tape deck and want to replace it with something useful).  Despite what Crutchfield (and USA Spec) say, "The factory radio must have either a separate "AUX" or a separate "Source" button, not one button labeled CD/AUX," this does work with my radio that has one button for CD and AUX (CD is just above AUX on the button).  Because my radio didn't come with an external 6-disc CD changer it doesn't have the icon on the preset 5 button for changing discs.  However, pushing the number 5 preset button does change disc number for the USA Spec unit to know what I need it to do.  I like the unit, does what I want it to do and would recommend this to anyone that wants to play through the factory radio without using FM transmitters or cassette adapters.

Got 2 adapters, both flakey. Avoid!!! August-04-11

Have had a pretty horrible experience with this adapter, which I suspect is due to  poor quality control by the manufacturer. The first adapter I bought worked well  for the first few days but then the left channel audio started cutting out, replaced  by a clicking sound. Crutchfield sent me a replacement adapter kit. I installed the  cables and adapter, and found that the adapter software was very different than  the software on my 1st adapter, which made it nearly unusable. I swapped in the  1st adapter and things worked great. I deduced the left channel issue was due to  a bad cable. However, a month later, the left channel cutout issue is back and  will not go away. I am going to rip out this stupid adapter and burn it.

2002 35th Anniversary SS Camaro Install November-09-10
Reviewer: Patrick from Fernandina Beach, FL
The install of this product on my camaro convertible with the Monsoon stereo was fairly  easy with the instructions that came with the device. I found a way to conceal the device in the glove  compartment, as it is said it was important to get to if I needed to reset it.  All of the cords  were long enough for me to route from the stereo to the box in the glove compartment  back through my center console and up through the ash tray.  Needless to say, it is fairly  well hidden.  I have seen a delay time between startup of the car and the syncing of the  device, but it is no longer then a few seconds.  The steering wheel controls work  marvelously with my iPhone 4G.  I found the best way to use it is put the CD changer to  disc 6 which allow for hi-bred control, ie with iPhone and steering wheel controls, this  allows me to pick the playlist and then cycle through with my steering wheel controls.

It is a great product and works extremely well.

3 stars becuase of the price and my application. I had to order another adapter for my application and i did not use the radio harness that came with this product at all. So this much for a little white box and an ipod cable and another $30 for the cadillac adapter. If the radio harness adapter was removed and the price lowered to like $80 then it would have been 5 stars for me, but now i have an extra cable i can do nothing with.

It does the job, but has quirks May-16-10

2000 Chevy Blazer, iPhone 3GS

- It works--you can play audio, either from your iPod or RCA inputs, via your GM factory radio
- Cables supplied are good quality, they are also longer than I expected
- Unit is fairly small--fit easily into a spot behind my radio
- Configuration is simple--only via 2 DIP switches

- It's expensive vs. a new head unit--unless you really love your GM radio, think hard about this; there are a lot new head units that are available for not that much more money
- It pops--when switching "disks" there is a very loud POP from your speakers
- It's flaky--
*It takes 15-20 seconds to start up, and during that time your iPhone will flash between home screen and "accessory connected" and the display may go blank on the phone until you tap it
*It does something that makes your iPhone battery die faster... yes, it charges when plugged in, but after you unplug your iPhone it will consume battery 4-5X faster then normal ; if you power down iPhone and then back up after using this your phone doesn't discharge as fast ... I don't know why, maybe it starts up a background process that consumes CPU cycles and so runs down the battery, or maybe it gets the iPhone into a weird mode where it doesn't sleep correctly?

Because of the issues above I plan to abandon using the iPod cable with this unit and start using the AUX input connected to the headphone jack of my iPhone.

If I had it to do over again I'd have bought a new head unit
