Deliver the power your amp deserves

This wiring kit does not include RCA patch cables or speaker wire. You may need to purchase those items separately, in order to complete your installation.

Power ratings and amp efficiency

Most amplifiers come in two distinct "Classes" of technology with different efficiencies and power wire size requirements. Class AB amps typically feature 50% to 60% efficiency, while Class D amps are usually 75% to 80% efficient. This Crutchfield wiring kit was designed to accommodate the energy demands of a Class AB amplifier with a total output of up to about 210 watts RMS, or a Class D amp with up to 325 watts RMS output.

CTA-2015 Compliant

Crutchfield wire

Crutchfield wire is made of oxygen-free copper, with no impurities that could raise its resistance to a signal's flow or add interference. Crutchfield wire meets all Consumer Technology Association (CTA-2015) standards for size, resistance, and insulation quality.

Q
I recently purchased a KAC - M1814 amp, what size (amp rating) fuse should I use on the power cable?

Greetings Charles. Thank you for your question. Kenwood recommends a 15 amp inline fuse.

Q
I bought a Sony ad unit with need to be connected directly to the battery and I got this 10 gauge battery and ground wire kit. There's no instructions and it kind of blows me away but it looks like I need to connect at 10 gauge wire to the 22 gauge hot and ground wire coming out of the head unit? Could not find them on your side but I found Online some Vinyl Insulated Step Down Butt Connector 12-10 Gauge to 22-18 Gauge butt connectors. Is that what you would normally do and it situation like this? The fuse holder has a 30 amp fuse in it but the manual says it should as a 15 AM fuse are these available? Thanks! I put in head units before but I've never directly wire to the battery and it seems counterintuitive to hook these two totally different gauge wires together.

Great question, Robert. I dealt with the same issue when installing a Sony high-powered radio in my personal vehicle. When using the high-power Sony radios connecting directly to the battery is the best move. We pair our smaller Crutchfield CK12 12-gauge wiring kit with the Sony high-power radios, but you can use this 10-gauge kit if you prefer. We do not carry mini ANL fuses in less than 30A rating, those will have to be sourced elsewhere. A step-down butt connector is a great way to make a clean connection from the larger 10-gauge to the smaller roughly 18-gauge radio power wire, or you can solder then heat shrink if you prefer. I hope this helps!

Q
Are there instructions for this kit? I have never installed a direct battery connection. I watched the firewall video. This is for the Sony DSX- GS80

We do not have instructions specific to your vehicle or that radio, but some parts of our "Car amplifier installation guide" will be helpful. Additionally, since you've purchased the radio and installation items from us here at Crutchfield, you have access to our free lifetime Tech Support. Our toll-free Tech Support number is printed on your invoice, and is also available under the "My Orders" tab in the "My Account" section of our website. Here's a link to the article: https://www.crutchfield.com/learn/learningcenter/car/amplifier_installation_guide.html

Q
Can I get just the cover for the fuse holder? I can't locate even just the Crutchfield fuse holder.
adam  Dec 31, 2023
1 answer
A
We do not offer replacement single parts for the Crutchfield CK10 kits, Adam. The EFX Delta block in the link below would be our best option for a replacement fuse block/cover that can be used with your existing mini-ANL fuses and amp install kit. I hope this helps! https://www.crutchfield.com/shopsearch/fuse_holder.html

Q
Will this kit work for kicker amplifier CXA400.1 ?
mitch  Nov 05, 2023

A
Kicker recommends that you use an 8 AWG power wire, such as our CK8, which is linked below: www.crutchfield.com/p_007CK8/item.html

Q
Is this wiring kit compatible with the Rockford Fosgate P300-8P?
don  Jan 31, 2023
1 answer
A
A thicker 8 gauge amp wiring kit is recommended with that powered subwoofer which we do carry a similar version of that, the CK8. I will put a link to it down below. https://www.crutchfield.com/p_007CK8/Crutchfield-CK8.html

Q
What gauge speaker wire should I use with this kit? I am purchasing the Sound Ordnance B-8P and a 10-gauge wiring kit was recommended. So should I use 10-gauge speaker wire?
isaac  Jun 04, 2019
1 answer
A
You probably don't need to go quite that heavy on the speaker wire - I'd say 12 gauge would be plenty: https://bit.ly/2RgfjVK

Q
waterproof fuse holder? Does it come with Terminals??
chris  May 01, 2017

A
The fuse itself has a screw terminal at each end. You can just use bare wire and screw it down, no additional parts are necessary. However, using ferrules makes for an even better/cleaner/stronger connection. Crutchfield sells them as "Install Bay Ferrules" - just buy the ones which are made for 10 guage wire in this case ($3.49/5 pack). That's what I used personally with this kit and it turned out great.
bayani  Jun 08, 2022
A
The fuse holder itself does not need terminals. Instead, the wire fits in both ends of the fuse holder and is held in place by locking screws.
james  May 03, 2017
A
As I recall it doesn't so you have to dig them up yourself. Easy installation tho.
