Rugged and powerful

The P300-8T comes equipped with a 8" woofer that's a perfect match for the built-in 300-watt amplifier. The ported enclosure provides optimum sound quality, and the rugged industrial vinyl coating protects it wherever you choose to install it. You can use the low-pass crossover, phase switch, and bass boost to adjust the sub to work best in your vehicle. High- and low-level inputs allow you to connect it to any system, while the included remote knob lets you adjust bass intensity from the driver's seat. Best of all, you can pop out the "quick disconnect" power and signal connectors to remove the enclosure for some extra room when you need it.

Product Research

Features

Overview: The Rockford Fosgate Punch P300-8P is an all-in-one bass solution featuring an 8" woofer and a built-in 300 watt RMS amplifier in a ported enclosure made from 5/8" MDF. Its slim form is designed to easily fit in pickup trucks and compact cars, while taking up as little usable space as possible.

Integrated Amplifier: The 8" woofer is powered by a built-in Class-D amplifier rated at 300 watts RMS/600 watts peak. The closed-loop designed ensures optimum performance of the woofer, amplifier, and enclosure system.

Quick Disconnect Power/Ground: The power, ground, and remote turn-on wires attach to a quick disconnect terminal block, so the subwoofer can be easily removed when you need more storage space. Each terminal is a set screw, with the power and ground accepting up to 4 gauge wire (minimum 8 gauge recommended) and the remote turn-on will accept up to 8 gauge wire.

Audio Inputs: The amplifier section will accept either a line level (RCA) or speaker level signal. The included 12" input harness has a Molex plug on one end and female stereo RCA jacks on the other. When using a speaker level input, the RCA jacks get cut off and spliced into the factory wires.

Input Switch: The Input Switch is set based on the incoming signal type:

  • Low-Level: Used when connecting and RCA level signal into the amp. Range is from 150mV to 6V.
  • High-Level: Used when connecting the subwoofer using a speaker-level input signal. Range is from 400mV to 12V.

Auto Turn-On: The Auto Turn-On switch offers three options:

  • REM: the amp turns on when +12 volts DC is applied to the remote terminal
  • DC Offset: the amp turns on when a 6 volt surge is detected on the signal inputs (from a speaker level source)
  • Audio: the amp turns on when an incoming audio signal is detected (can be used with line level or speaker level inputs)

Gain Control: The rotary gain control allows you to match the output level of your headunit to the input level of the powered subwoofer.

Crossover: The 12 db/oct low-pass crossover is always engaged; the crossover point is adjustable from 50 to 200 Hz.

Bass Boost: Use the rotary dial to adjust the bass boost; continuously variable from 0 to +12 dB, centered at 45 Hz.

Phase: A switch allows you to reverse the phase of the subwoofer (0°, 180°).

Protection Circuit: The P300-8P is equipped with thermal overload, over voltage, and short circuit protection. The amplifier will shut down if any of these situations is encountered.

Punch Level Control: A wired Punch Level Control is included so you can adjust the output level from the driver's seat. The remote has a bracket to mount it under the dash. The included 16-1/2' cable, with a 3.5mm stereo mini-plug on each end, connects the remote to the subwoofer. Note: The Punch Level Control measures approximately 2-3/8" wide x 1" high x 2" deep (3-1/2" deep including the knob and cable).

Dimensions: The dimensions listed in Dimensions and Features/Specs include the subwoofer's grille, and the power and signal wiring harnesses, which add approximately 1.0" and 1.5" respectively. The depth of just the enclosure is 4.875" and the width without wiring is 17.750".

Q
Will this fit behind the backseat of a 2013 tacoma double cab?
caleb  Feb 23, 2024
1 answer
A
Greetings Caleb. Thank you for your question. What you have is at the floor level 6 inches of depth, but 18 inches up it tapers to 4 inches. This is 5 5/8ths deep. A safe bet would be no, its not going to fit.

Q
I am wanting to install this in a 2021 RAM Laramie with Alpine system. What all is needed to put this in?
shane  Feb 11, 2024
1 answer
A
Greetings Shane. Thank you for your question. For sure you will need an 8 gauge amp wiring kit, speaker wire, and T taps. A bass restoring processor is recommended. If you have active noise canceling, you will need to disable it.

Q
Will this fit in the back seat of my 2014 F150 Supercrew Cab without sticking out under the seat?
ethan  Feb 03, 2024
1 answer
A
We advise customers to take accurate measurements of your specific install space, then compare to the listed dimensions of the Rockford Fosgate P300-8P, Ethan. I have posted them below for reference for you. According to our research guide, there is roughly 11" depth, 6" height, and 52" width available under the rear seats in the 2014 F-150 Supercrew. When laid flat, it does appear that the Rockford Fosgate P300-8P will fit. Rockford Fosgate P300-8P dimensions: 19-1/4"W (including wiring) x 11-3/8"H x 5-5/8"D (including grille).

Greetings Ethan. We just measured the crew cab on the 2014. You have 11 inches of depth to work with and this sub is 19 3/4ths by 11 3/8ths, by 5 5/8ths. your good on height, width, and really close on depth.

Can 2 of these be "linked" to be controlled by 1 bass remote ?
sam  Oct 20, 2023
1 answer
A
Greetings Sam. Great question. So the remote controller cable is 3.5mm stereo. male on both ends. Use the cables from both subwoofers to a 3.5mm stereo (not mono) splitter then to one remote. https://www.crutchfield.com/p_979YMM232/Hosa-Mini-Headphone-Y-Adapter.html?tp=63670

Q
Is the volume of the enclosure okay to convert it to a sealed enclosure?
curtis  May 30, 2023
1 answer
A
This Rockford Fosgate P300-8P is specifically matched to the amp, speaker, and enclosure space, Curtis. We would not advise converting or modifying the Rockford Fosgate P300-8P. If you are looking for a little more performance with a sealed enclosure/amp combination, consider the Kicker 46TL7T82 in the link below. The square 8" moves a little more air and can handle a little more power at 350-watts, and the Rockford Punch P300X1 would be a stellar match! https://www.crutchfield.com/p_20646TL82/Kicker-46TL7T82.html https://www.crutchfield.com/p_575P300X1/Rockford-Fosgate-Punch-P300X1.html

Q
can i wire two of these to one head unit?
brandon  Nov 15, 2022
1 answer
A
Greetings Brandon, and thank you for your question. They will each need an 8 gauge wire to the battery, then from your stereo/radio all they need is a signal. If its a factory radio its speaker wire. If its an aftermarket stereo, you would have to split the RCA outs with two Y splitters.

can I buy a replacement speaker for the p300-8p system as it's just the speaker that no longer works?

robert m.  Dec 31, 2020

Has a good sound and the gain is adjustable. You are also able to tune it to the specific vehicle. I direct wired to a Dodge Challenger deck subwoofer output and worked out well. Enough bass, sometimes, too much for this vehicle. Not overwhelming and doesn't shake and vibrate everything.
craig  Dec 31, 2020
A
Low end bass falls off sharply anywhere below about 30hz. It still punches strong around 40hz, but the bass sound does lose energy below that. For an 8inch sub this thing is awesome. Once you get it dialed the sound is crisp and tight and won't overpower a decent factory system.
jordan  Dec 30, 2020
A
Love this thing. I'm not into rocking my windows to breakage so this thing is perfect. You can adjust the bass and trust me when I tell you I don't go above 25% of its capabilities before it becomes overwhelming. Nice addition to any radio stock or custom.
adam  Dec 30, 2020
A
I really have no complaints! For an 8" it goes quite hard. I listen to a lot of bassy reggae and hip hop and it sounds awesome.

You'll need about 4 inches of clearance and yes, you'll need amp wiring for set up.
peter  Aug 25, 2020

Mine is installed in plain sight against a side wall in my 2019 Transit passenger van. You'll have to measure your underseat space & compare that to the sub box dimensions. You will need an amp wire kit.
mike  Aug 25, 2020
A
Should fit just fine and yes you would need the amp wire kit

I have a 2013 Jetta with factory radio and no built-in amp. Will I need a line output converter, or can i just use the RCA to speaker wire connector?
raymo41  Jun 18, 2020

A
I have 2020 Hyundai Elantra with an 8" sub and I just unhooked the speaker wire from my factory sub and ran that wire to the high level input on the sub and it was as simple as that. You do not need a loc or rca's to power this sub. You can "tap" into your full range rear speaker(s) and run regular speaker wire to the high level input or if you have a factory sub you can use that as I did. If you have any questions the guy's at Crutchfield are absolutely awesome and they will get you lined out. This powered sub is OUTSTANDING!
jared  Jun 18, 2020
A
Yes, this unit allows for speaker level input (how I'm using it with a factory Toyota stereo) and also has an auto power on/off feature. You'll need access to some of your factory speaker wires (which you'll tap into using the appropriate included wiring), and power (12V, I used an 8 gauge amp wiring kit to give myself plenty of headroom). Enjoy, it's a nice little unit!
joel  Jun 18, 2020
A
What I ended up doing, stock Ford Fiesta radio, was splice into the rear speaker wires and running those to this amps supplied adapter for the speaker inputs.

Hi. I have an older JVC Receiver (around 10yrs old) and there is only one subwoofer output. Can I used this single output from my receiver or should I use a pair for external AMPS (not for subwoofer)?

I'm not really sure I have I have a pioneer 490bs that has a single sub output and I am just using a self power sub and it works great for what I'm using if for.
kevin  Jun 08, 2020
A
If your external amp will be feeding good quality, full range speakers, I would go that way. A pair of good 6X9's can belt out good quality low end while improving system impact in the mid bass & high end.

Hi Zachary, thank you for your question! You will be able to connect this powered sub via RCA to the subwoofer preamp output on the back of your new Pioneer receiver. You will need RCA cables and an 8 gauge amp wiring kit. The Rockford Fosgate RFK8i will have all you need for your installation.
jessica  Jan 28, 2020 (Staff)
A
My install was done using speaker level input because I kept the factory head unit. Speaker level also fed a kicker key amp used in the system in a 2019 Transit, 8 pass van. The starting battery is under the driver's seat, & there was room for the small amp also. My sub is velcroed to the van sidewall in front of the second row bench seat. Power, ground, & speaker signal available 3' away. Works great!!!

I installed this sub, against the side wall, behind the drivers seat in my 2019 Transit pass van. I had already run the high level speaker wires from the head unit to under the drivers seat where I hid the Kicker Key amp. The battery is under the seat, so hooking up the sub was easy. Power & speaker level feed for the sub within 2 feet. Works great. Plenty of sub for this van. The Key has plenty of punch for the 6. 6 3/4" Rockford speakers I upgraded to. Thank You Crutchfield.
mike  May 28, 2019
A
It sure can if you use a line out converter. I purchased Audiocontrol LC6i from crutchfield. It allows you to keep factory stereo and add amps and stuff since it gives you 3 pre amps out.
michael  May 25, 2019
A
Hi/low converter spliced into door speaker wire. Very common and simple install.
