Battle of the Imports - Dinwiddie, VA, September 28-29, 2002

Heads up!

Welcome to this article from the Crutchfield archives. Have fun reading it, but be aware that the information may be outdated and links may be broken.
What's the story?
On a gorgeous September Saturday, custom-car fans at the Virginia Motorsports Park in Dinwiddie were treated to one of the finer shows on the circuit: the latest edition of Battle of the Imports! These shows feature everything an enthusiast could want from a show: tricked out custom cars, live entertainment, and quarter-mile drag racing.

Who was in the booth?
This time around, Team Crutchfield was honored to exhibit, for the second time, the two-tone Honda Accord that belongs to Brian Hobbs of Richmond, Virginia's Speedline Performance car club. His car, with its striking paint job and killer sound system, always attracts a big crowd. Thanks for showing off for us, Brian!

Show highlights
The focus of the weekend was on the Venom Pro-Import races. Impressive times and speeds were put up by all the competitors. For an official pdf of the list of winners from the Battle of the Imports website, click here.

Off the track, there was an incredible amount to see. Hundreds of custom cars, all in various stages of customization: cars with dramatically enhanced sound systems; cars with intensive body modification; cars with hydraulic systems installed. Basically, anything you wanted to see, you probably would over the weekend.

There were plenty of vendors with their booths, who were showing off everything they had to offer. There was also plenty of live entertainment on the stage, including the highly anticipated, and naturally well-received, bikini contest.

As we've come to expect, the show was an absolute blast. We got to talk to plenty of race and show fans, gave away some Kicker subwoofers, and generally had a great time. Team Crutchfield's mission is to take our booth to as many shows around the country as they can. Be sure to check our online Event Calendar to see when a show will be in your area. And if you see us at one of these shows, don't hesitate to stop in and say hello!
