Oppo UDP-203 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray player

Brilliant audio and video for any system

The Oppo UDP-203 is a lot of things. It's a 4K Blu-ray player, a high-res audio player, and a surround sound decoder. We're impressed with how smooth and clear the picture quality is, even when playing standard HD movies on a 4K television. And it simply sounds amazing, supporting high-res audio formats and even SACD. All told, it's an amazing component for the price.

The Oppo UDP-203 4K Blu-ray player is designed to bring all the video and audio details out of your movies and music. It supports a wide variety of disc and file formats, and uses premium components for high-end performance. Whether you want to explore the latest and greatest entertainment sources, or improve the quality of your current sources, the UDP-203 is up to the task.

One of the standout features in Oppo's first UHD Blu-ray player is the advanced quad-core video processor. This powerful 4K decoder provides enhanced image quality and detail. The UDP-203 also supports HDR and Wide Color Gamut, resulting in excellent contrast and color range. And if you're just making the jump to 4K, the UDP-203 can upscale your standard Blu-rays and DVDs, making them look better than ever.

Two HDMI outputs allow you to send out separate audio and video signals, and an HDMI input lets you hook up an additional component, like an Apple TV, to take advantage of Oppo's amazing processing and picture quality.

We have the UDP-203 set up in our demo room, and the sound quality is excellent. It supports the latest surround sound formats, like Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, as well as hi-res audio up to 32-bit/192kHz. The disc drive is rock solid, and has been optimized for accuracy, disc compatibility, and super quick start-up times. This player also has a ton of connectivity: digital audio outputs include HDMI, optical, and coax. And three USB inputs allow you to connect a storage device full of music, videos, or photos. If you want to take advantage of the 7.1 channel RCA analog outputs, an 8-channel AKM DAC handles the audio conversion. You can even configure your speaker settings in the Oppo menu.

From a premium home theater to a high-end music system - the Oppo UDP-203 fits right in. If you have any questions, just give Crutchfield a call.

I am using Roku and Apple TV in two HDMI ports on my LG TV. If the Oppo 203 can handle one or both (how many HDMI inputs are there? If only one I would choose Roku because of ease of use) will my streaming sound and picture improve dramatically? Or, do I have to use DVDs to gain the improvement?

I'm getting terrible av sync issues with Dolby Vision discs with this player and my E6 Oled. LG says it's an Oppo issue and Oppo says it's LG. Unfortunately, looks like I'll be returning the player as a result. Otherwise this is a fantastic player.

Oppo players never go on sale. If you ever see a sale. Go for it. I have the 203 and it is fantastic as is the company. Firmware updates are regular and logged on their website. Great build quality and two year warranty. You won't find this from the mainstream brands. Had a Sony, went to Oppo, never going back.

Can this player decode DTS X and Dolby Atmos through the analog? I purchased this player from Crutchfield but have an older receiver that supports DTS HD and Dolby TrueHD through the secondary HDMI out of the player with great sound quality. I still have my analog input available as I no longer need my dvd, dvd-a, sacd player since this does it all.
