Video: Pioneer and Apple CarPlay demo

Pioneer's the first to bring CarPlay™ to aftermarket car stereos. CarPlay integrates your iPhone into the driving experience in a new, seamless interface, putting iPhone content at the driver's fingertips with minimal distraction. That means easy access to your music library, your phone, messages, navigation, plus other music and apps. Check out this overview video.

Pat, that's correct. At this point, you still need a wired connection to use Apple CarPlay. However, a wireless option will be coming soon.

hi, so carplay can only be used with a lightning cable.....it doesn't work via bluetooth?

HR, no extra data plan is necessary. You'll be using the data plan for your phone. In most cases, all you need to access CarPlay is to have a wired connection between the compatible receiver and iPhone via a Lightning cable. You can confirm requirements related to CarPlay by clicking on the "Details" tab for the receiver that interests you.

Do the Pioneer unit's that have Apple CarPlay require their own LTE cellphone data account or does it just use the cell phone's data connection? To connect the Pioneer unit to the cellphone, does it use a lightening/USB connection, wifi or bluetooth?
