Video: Yamaha MG mixers

Yamaha's MG mixers draw upon Yamaha's audio expertise and engineering skill to bring you a complete line of live sound mixers. All of them feature a road-worthy metal chassis, balanced XLR outputs, and studio-quality mic preamps. Some models also give you digital effects and a USB output for recording to a computer.

For more details about the MG series and comparsion charts to help you pick the right one, read our in-depth article about the complete MG mixer lineup.

Video Transcript

From the road to the studio, Yamaha's MG series of mixing boards give musicians and recording engineers the sound quality and reliability they need to get the job done right. In this video we will cover the four features that make Yamaha MG mixers stand out from the competition.

First, all MG mixers use a sturdy metal chassis. They stand up to rigorous use and are built to last. Second, the microphone preamp in every mixer is a Class-A, studio-quality design capturing a wide dynamic range and sending a low noise signal to the PA. Third, the mic inputs have a couple of special features that help you dial in the sound.

A 26dB pad switch lowers hot signals like that of a bass drum, and a high-pass filter helps vocals and acoustic guitars stand out. And last but not least, all MG mixers, from the six-channel to the twenty-channel, give you balanced XLR outputs. These provide a stable signal in challenging environments, like a live band playing in a club.

There are two other things to look for. Models with an X in the name will give you Yamaha's legendary SPX digital effects like reverb and delay, and models with a U let you connect to a computer or tablet using USB cables for stereo recording and playback.

So whether you're an acoustic duo, a studio engineer, or a full-fledged band Yamaha MG mixers can help you get the mix you're looking for. If you have any questions, call, email, or chat with an advisor.
