Q
Will this work in a 2001 F150? The 10th Generation F150 doesn't have a full sized double DIN.

that is not the dash kit for your truck. The correct dash kit is this : https://www.crutchfield.com/p_120955818/Metra-95-5818-Dash-Kit.html . You may want to reach out to one of our advisors for more personalized help! https://www.crutchfield.com/support/ContactUs.aspx

Q
Can you remove the cubby to mount a 1/2din eq below the single din stereo?
chris  Mar 04, 2018
1 answer
A
I'm afraid we don't have enough information on file to confirm fit or compatibility using a 1/2 DIN EQ in place of the storage compartment with the FMK-550 dash kit. That would have to be more of a "custom" type of installation if possible. For more details or to discuss further, please feel free to contact an Advisor by phone (888.955.6000) or online chat.

I have a 2005 Ford Explorer sport trac, but there isn't a page in the owners manual for my specific model, it just says that it fits. What should I do?

I would trust that it fits if they say it does. If for some odd reason it did not fit, I am fairly certain that you can trust them to make it right. My money is on it fitting!

Q
I purchased a head unit with a rear USB input with this bracket for a 2001 Explorer. Has anyone used this bracket to feed a rear aux USB cable through? Did you drill a hole in the cubby or run it through the side somehow?
daniel  Nov 22, 2017
1 answer
A
For me. I was able to feed the rear USB off to the side and into the cup holder in the dash. Now. That was in my 2003 f150 but I would imagine it was about the same for the explorer. If I wanted to take it further. I'm sure I could have fished it around and into the glove box. Top tip. Old wire clothes hangers can work wonders when trying to fish something through tight spots like that. Good luck.

Q
I am looking for a kit to fit my class A RV. The opening measures 3.6" tall which seems to match some Fords. Does this kit fit a 3.6" tall opening?
steve  Nov 03, 2017

A
This is a vehicle-specific dash mount kit so, the dimensions are not provided by the manufacturer. You can reach American International directly by dialing: 800-336-6500

Q
What are the dimensions of the "integrated pocket" (spacer cubby hole)? I'm trying to determine if a Uniden CB unit (505XL) can be mounted below my single-DIN head unit in an '02 F-150

IDK i had to file a bit to get dash whole to fit i suppose if you had a custom bracket
jacob harrison  Nov 18, 2016
A
While I do not have the exact dimensions of the storage pocket by itself, the opening is less than 1" tall and not large enough to accommodate the CB unit you've referenced. I hope that helps! My Bio: http://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=5

Q
How do you connect the rear mount to the stereo? The tech said I didn't need it since I was using the stereo casing (only because I couldn't get the pieces to fit together) but I can't seem to get stereo to fit snug. When I plug in my phone to the usb port, it feels like my stereo is going to fall out. Thank you.

Q
Can you put it in upside down so the stereo slot is on the bottom and the cubby is on top?
mikeyman1998  Apr 21, 2015

A
depends on what kind of car you are putting it in, most of them it shouldn't matter much just depends on how that mount installs in your car
rocky  May 04, 2015
A
Yes I tried it both ways and decided on the top.
burke  Apr 21, 2015
A
I had to modify it to fit a 2001 Jeep TJ. So if you modify it (break off the tabs) it will go upside down
