Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
Sound is excellent, and they are basically plug in and play.
Looking for better sound from your favorite music files, videos and games? The Bose® Companion® 2 Series III multimedia speaker system will add depth and clarity to your computer audio sources without taking over your desk. You'll enjoy engaging sound and still have room to get your work done.
Bose's TrueSpace® signal processing is the key — it creates a broad soundstage from speakers spaced no further apart than the width of your computer monitor or laptop. You'll hear improved warmth and detail from your MP3s and streaming audio, and added punch from your computer games and DVDs. Two sets of audio inputs let you hook up an additional source, like a portable MP3 player, without having to disconnect the speakers from your computer. A handy front-panel headphone jack makes private headphone listening easy for those times when you don't wish to disturb others.
These are like all Bose products, AWESOME!!. My computer speakers sound better than the surround sound speakers I have on my TV.

Sound is excellent, and they are basically plug in and play.
These are like all Bose products, AWESOME!!. My computer speakers sound better than the surround sound speakers I have on my TV.
Pros: Great sound, no distortion, clean look.
Enjoying my Bose speakes...They are better than the ones I had in the 90's. Nice, and better on/off switch... Thanks!
These speakers were everything the description said they were. Easy to hook up and sound great. I highly recommend them.
Pros: Easy to hook up. Sound great!
Nice and compact, great sound considering it's a computer speaker.
Pros: No separate subwoofer
Cons: Canted angle
My really old computer speakers finally had a driver go bad in one of the speakers... time for something new. Found these highly rated speakers on multiple sites and let me tell you I am not disappointed at all. Immediately I hooked them up and played some YouTube music videos to do some testing. Night and day compared to what I used to have AND without a dedicated subwoofer. Sound is so crisp and encompasses the den where my desktop computer is. I use these for music as well as gaming. I also have limited space available with my large monitor and these fit nicely on each side. You definitely won't be disappointed especially at this price point!
LOVED THE SPEAKERS SMALLER THAN THE OLD ONES BUT STRONGER HOORAY. PEOPLE IN COMPANY VERY HELPFUL.
Pros: PEOPLE VERY HELPFUL
Cons: HAD PROBLEM TRYING TO REGISTER THE SPEAKERS BUT THEY REGISTERED FOR ME WHEN I SENT THE SERIAL NUMBER TO THEM
It works as I had hoped for. Thank you.
I had the companion 2, series II speakers that rendered sound so much better and louder than these. Compared to their predecessor, I am very unimpressed. These speakers don't really render the highs or lows the same. With that said, for the price of a set of small desk speakers without a subwoofer, they aren't terrible. I wish I would have shopped around more instead of assuming they would (and should) be better than their predecessor.
Pros: Small in size - won't clutter up your desk.
Cons: Not happy with the way they render sound.
I purchased these to replace a 3 piece Boston Acoutics system for my desktop computer. The goal was to eliminate the more complex system with wires everywhere, particularly the subwoofer. The Bose speakers are unobtrusive and provide adequate sound for my personal needs. They're easy to set up. Good value for the money, but they don't compare with true audiophile speakers at far higher prices.
Pros: Easy setup Good but not great sound
Cons: Not much bass
Needed speakers to attach to my Amazon Fire Tablet, which I am using in Show Mode. They needed to be small and wired. These do the trick. The sound is pretty good, and the setup was easy.
Pros: Reasonably priced, small, sound pretty good.
I have these Bose speakers connected to a Sound Blaster audio card in my desktop PC. The sound is spacious, clear, detailed, and impactful! The bass is clean, defined, and while it won't shake the pictures off your walls, is deeper than I had expected. I'm very satisfied with these speakers and would recommend them as an excellent value. They are compact, look great, and perform as expected from Bose!
Pros: Crisp, clear, spacious, detailed, full-range sound.
Pros: Size and sound quailty
Cons: bass is pretty limited
Great sound and I love the dual inputs. I use one for the Mac and one for an Echo Dot b
Brought these mainly for my Laptop for watching Youtube Videos. The overall quality of the Speakers are Average, but for Music these things really come Alive! For Music alone I would give them a 5 Star Rating I find myself having to turn the Volume down. Probably will look into the Logitech V-533 Speaker System with Subwoofer, My son has these and they really sound good for Videos and Music. Thanks to Crutchfield's 60 day return because that might be an Option.
Pros: For music and Music Video's these sound GREAT!!!
Cons: Average for Talking YouTube Video's
I didn't think small speakers could put out great sound, but I was wrong. These speakers are loud and very clear. They have very good bass also. I would recommend these speakers for the home office!
Pros: Great sound
Cons: Pricey, but you pay for what you get
These are perfect little computer speakers. They don't take up too much room on our desk and deliver great sound for their size. Can't go wrong with the Bose brand.
My first Bose Speakers, these are some very good speakers, awesome sound on music, games and movies. The sound is very clear which is very important to me, I recommend these speakers to anyone, they do not disappoint.
Pros: Great quality for the price.
Pros: Great sound and clarity
These are the best computer speakers that I have ever had. I thought that I would miss not having a bass, but it's not needed.
Pros: Can't beat the price for this quality.
Fantastic. These produce huge sound, that is accurate, not overly bright or bassy, they play things as they are, though I use them for movies more than music. It's amazing, considering the smallest speakers offered and at sub-100, you're not going to get anything better. I do like that you can plug them in via headphone/3.5 port, with macbooks and even windows laptops pretty much switching over to usb-c and thunderbolt three, many usb 2.0 and 3 don't work and even with hubs or adapters, a lot of older software and hardware simply doesn't work because they only work with a direct usb connection to a computer etc. unless mac takes out's it's headphone port(which is unlikely) these will work on any computer which isn't true of many speakers now as the technology changes.
Pros: Small Big sound/soundstage and excellent seperation of instruments Accurate sound as well(but not clinical or flat sounding) Uses a headphone connection instead of USB(insures compability as USB 2.0 and 3.0 is going the way of the walkman)
Excellent sound from such a reasonably priced set of speakers, a must have for me as I'm always in a travel mode.
Pros: Excellent sound quality and reasonably pricedl
These speakers are perfect! Small, and very easy to install. They have the sound quality that you would expect from BOSE. These were a perfect match for my new Dell laptop and docking station with a great price. I thank Bryce for his recommendation.
Pros: Perfect size and great sound.
very nice for the money.
They are as described. Wish câble going from right speaker to computer was longer.
Easy to install, great sound from small speakers, and at a great price. I hooked these powered speakers up to satellite radio and get great sound. They take up little space, so this satellite radio/speaker combo can be used as a table radio.
Pros: Small size Good sound quality Great price
Good sound, but not as good as the Creative I-trigue I3800 they replaced. I expected more from Bose, even at the "entry level."
Not sure what all the hype is about with these speakers. They sound mediocre at best. I was a little disappointed because I'm a fan of Bose products but I feel these missed the mark. So I returned them. Crutchfield charged me to return them. Get with it Crutchfield. FREE returns. This is one of the reasons a different internet company is sweeping the floor with retailers.
I purchased these speakers to monitor progress while transferring my vinyl record collection to digital. I have a pair of lightweight Grado headphones that I was previously using, but after wearing them for a while, they become a bit uncomfortable. These Bose speakers replaced a cheap set that I had purchased for temporary use. They sounded tinny to say the least.
Pros: small footprint, excellent sound
This is a good product at a good price, however, I do not believe they sound better than the Series II speakers.
If you need new speakers this is a great way to go. Somewhat expensive but as they say you get what you pay for. You could pay a lot more but I fail to see how they could sound any better. My advisor was right, they sound great. Thanks for your advice and suggestions.
Pros: Simply put they sound great and fast simple setup.
I spend a lot of time in Europe so I wanted these speakers so I could listen to music while I was out of the country. They are a little big and heavy to travel with but they are a vast improvement over the speakers I had before. I have had no power problems and I really like the sound.
Good quality, lightweight, compact desktop speakers. Ducted port design produces medium bass response.
Pros: Compact, light weight
Cons: No fader or tone control, just volume and on/off
I was looking for something to upgrade my 14 year old Harmon Kardon speakers that came with my first computer. After reading the rave reviews for these Bose Companion speakers I ordered them. The day after they arrived I hooked them up and was immediately disappointed. My computer has enough jacks to have them hooked up without unhooking the old Harmon Kardon so I repeatedly switched back and forth while listening to the same sound source. It didn't matter what the source was, the old Harmon Kardon's sounded noticeably better. I give Crutchfield 5 stars for the fast delivery now we'll see what they get for accepting returns.
Pros: They look good.
Cons: They sound half as good as they look.
Very good sounding and reasonably priced. I use these with an Audioquest dragonfly, depending on the quality of the source material sound is clear and full . I would recommend these for sure.
Pros: Quality construction, very little distortion
Cons: Could use a separate woofer Not a "con" but I would recommend using a DAC when using for computer use. Makes a real difference.
Just what I expected, much better than the ones that I had. Not dissapointed, I like to listen to classical music, jazz, latin, rock, nature sounds, just cannot beat the quality you get on these speakers, thanks Bose.
This was a great buy for the price. If your looking for very nice sound without breaking the bank, you'll be well pleased with these speakers.
Pros: Excellent value for price
I purchase this pair as a low cost speakers for my office computer. I have Bose speakers for my home computer (a higher cost one) as well as a portable Bluetooth speaker which I like very much. I listen mainly to classic music and NewAge. I was deeply disappointed. The bass was just too much and even at a soft level, would rattle the speaker pronounceable. I played around with the equalizer, to no luck. And i have a few thousands of classical tracks and did not/cannot tune each one individually. So I decided to return the speaker and should decide on a higher price one. This speaker might be good if you listen mainly to Pop and "beat" music or play games, but not classical. I was very disappointed.
Pros: Cost, brand name
Cons: Too much bass and too little trebble
Great sound, music and games sound great, vast improvement over the speakers I had, well worth the money.
A great product. I use them with my Sony TV that has stereo out jacks. Crisp and clear sound in a bass reflex cabinet.
Too much bass! No treble. My music sounds muffled. I was planning on using it as a room speaker attached to an apple express, maybe better if you're listening less than a foot away from it. I have the Harmon sound sticks that sound a billion times better than this, maybe I should just get another one of those.

I needed speakers to improve the sound of my Toshiba laptop. I decided to spend the money and get Bose, my first Bose purchase. The sound is very balanced and full for such a small footprint speaker. Bass is somewhat weak but entirely acceptable. Only negatives are no light for speakers when they are off or on and short cord for connection between pc and speakers. I bought a ten foot cord to correct this. These speakers fill up a small room with full vibrant sound and are worthy of the Bose name. I have no complaints about these speakers. Most people will be entirely satisfied with them.
Pros: Smooth balanced sound and a tremendous improvement over small pc speakers.
Cons: No on off light and short cord between pc and speakers. These are very minor complaints.
Clear, crisp loud sound. We listen to a lot of Pandora on these speakers and never disappointed. Great value. Top notch customer service at Crutchfield.
Pros: You don't even have to crank them up to get beautiful sounds.
Cons: None I noticed.
Does the job!
Love These Bose Computer Speaker's. They Have Great Ambient Sound. Easy To Setup. Makes Music Come Alive.
Pros: Easy Setup And Great Sound
Excellent sound, easy setup...
I bought these to replace a fairly old set of Infinity speakers, and they sound great. Surprising bass and clean the rest of the way. I am very please with these speakers, and now wish I had purchased them sooner. You won't be disappointed.
Pros: Full rich sound, compact size.
Been looking for good set of computer speakers for a long time. I have always wanted a "nice" set but just couldn't bring myself to spend $250 on speakers again. Also my table doesn't allow me to have big speakers. I bought these to replace a set of Klipsch I bought online at a different retailer a year ago. The Klipsch where fine just old and abused. These Bose are a step above and beyond. Reset my EQ on my computer and I have the nice tight bass and all around good sound I've been wanting. They get louder than anything I've had in a long time. Perfect for my bedroom. Good little punchy speakers. Sure the money I spent is a bit of cash but wow these sound so good. Thinking of trying these on my TV to just see how it sounds. Just to clarify my computer is currently my home system. I listen to all my music off my computer.
Pros: small footprint, well built feel. Big presence
Great Speaker System
Pros: Great Sound Quality, very easy to set up, works great on a smart tv that I have in a kitchen where space is limited
We use these for our desktop speakers. We were amazed when we installed them. The difference between these and our old ones was incredible. The depth, range, and clarity of sound is excellent, and we are very pleased.
I purchased the Bose Companion 2 Series III speakers to fortify my Sony Bravia flat screen in my bedroom. I had been using a set of PC speakers, but my home is about a mile from an AM radio station and I was hearing the station coming through the old speakers. The Bose speakers arrived without drama and on time. I got them hooked up and thought I would need to send them back. The frequency response of these speakers is definitely nowhere near flat, with a huge peak in the lower midrange producing a boominess that makes me wish for some tone controls to address this. The high end is somewhat subdued and not as bright as the previous speakers I was using. I'm sticking with these for now, but I am looking for a reasonable self-amplified satellite / subwoofer speaker system to replace the Bose.
Pros: Compact size, two audio inputs, good volume levels, low noise floor, solid connections, no distracting power LED.
Cons: Booming lower midrange, high-end roll off, no tone controls
I bought a set of these speakers after reading numerous positive reviews about them. After having them for a while I think I made a wise decision. Im not a Bose fanboy by any means, but these speakers sound pretty good for such a small footprint. The sound is warm and clear, and the midbass is pretty stout also. I have these setup in a small corner cubicle and I think this helps add to the overall sound and performance I am getting from the speakers. They are far from the best sounding speakers I have heard, but for the price point, I think they are the best deal out there. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone!
Pros: Warm, clear sound, small footprint
Cons: No tone controls
There are not enough words to describe how incredible these speakers sound. There is so much depth to the music, you can hear all the instruments with such clarity and it brings the music alive. I have owned the Logitech Z2300, but the quality of music from the Bose far surpasses that of Logitech's. The vocals are crisp, with fine separation of highs and mids and adequate presence of lows. I don't want to repeats what hundreds of reviews on this product have already said, but I couldn't have asked for more from Bose in this price range.
Pros: - impressive sound stage - low price (considering its from Bose)
Cons: - often forget to turn the speaker off since there is no light indicator
I bought these speakers for use with a laptop. I had some small laptop speakers but they lacked the necessary base. The Bose speakers, although they are small, feature that pleasant bass that my ears love. But these speakers don't match the quality of larger Bose speakers. The size and sound of the small Bose speakers you will like with a laptop. Easy to carry on a trip and not much packing room needed.
Pros: The small footprint of the speakers which have excellent sound. I also use the aux in for my small Grace Internet Radio.
Cons: None that I know.
Great Quality; Low Price
Pros: These are excellent speakers; much better quality than I expected for the price. The instructions were easy to follow. The speakers are small in size so they fit in easily with all the other items surrounding my monitor. In addition, they fit in well with the other system components. I'm glad that I purchased them and glad I purchased them from Crutchfield.
I think they are great and compact compare to other speakers that I once had. The price is good and conveniently to use. I like them very much is there was a sixth star i would've used it.
Pros: Easy to use and convenient
Cons: No light to tell you when it is on
Easy to set up, clean looking, great sound
Clear room-filling sound from a small speaker. I highly recommend tweaking the EQ in iTunes to find the best sound for your space/preference...it makes a huge difference in the sound quality.
Cons: No on/off led indicator. Not that big of a deal..
Great sound for the price, replaced the old speakers, big improvement in sound quality, loving them.
Pros: Great sound for the price.
The sound is great. I have it hooked up to my hp computer and it's amazing
Pros: Easy to use.
My new speakers sound great for speakers that don't use subwoofers. I am using them with a Fiio DAC connected to one of my laptop's USB ports. I can crank them up loud. So far no complaints.
Pros: Good sounding, compact
They have good bass for their size, but highs are lacking, and their hardware is built with cables that you cannot replace. When these go out (and they will), rather than replace the cable you have to buy a whole new set of speakers.
Pros: Good Bass
Cons: Muddy highs, bad hardware that isn't a replaceable component.
I was pleasantly surprised. The only disappointment I had was the speaker(s) not having a light or indicator to let me know if the speakers were on or off. They have much better sound than my previous speakers that came with my Dell computer.
Pros: good sound, even bass
Cons: no on/off indicator
The onboard speakers on my laptop had recently stopped working so I needed something to get my sound. I wanted something that sounded amazing but didn't cost a fortune. These are those speakers. Very crisp sound with a little bit of bass, just awesome.
These speakers work great for what I needed. Been doing some music downloads, and wanted a better presentation of what I have been doing over the tinny factory speakers that came with my pc. You can't go wrong with any Bose equipment----always quality. Plus these babies aren't space hogs either----another plus. Nice full sound for not having to use a sub. No complaints here.
Pros: Quality, sound, and size.
Cons: No separate volume adjustments for each speaker. one adjustment for both as a pair. No power light to instantly let you know if they are on or off.
Very pleased with the sound quality. Based upon some reviews, I was not expecting as much bass reproduction as I'm hearing from these, which is better than that produced by the older Companion 2 Series I that I'm using on another laptop. Either the Series III is that much improved in sound quality or the sound card settings are that much better on the laptop the Series III are connected to. Maybe a bit of both, but I'm glad I purchased these from Crutchfield.
Pros: Almost everything.
Cons: Almost none, except that I wish Bose would design a similar priced speaker system that connects and is powered via USB.
Great price and great sound
Pros: excellent sound and a great price.
I've had these speakers for about a week, easy set up. They are smaller than I thought, yet powerful and have the AUX input that I needed, hooked them up to a mixer and use the speakers as my main speakers for my whole system, if tire not looking directly at then you'd think they were much bigger, due to the crisp clear sound they put out- I love them
Pros: Aux input
Cons: Smaller than I thought, but you'll,forget that....the sounds great
Great quality sound at a great price! Great lows and highs!
Pros: Great quality sound at a great price! Great lows and highs!
An outstanding set of computer speakers. Typical great quality from Bose. Installation was very easy, sound quality is better than I expected. It handles bass very well and even though small and compact you can hear the depth of the speakers. And as always, great service from Crutchfield.
Pros: Very good qualiy for the price, easy installation from out of the box, quick read, install, took about 6 minutes.
Cons: I can't find any
Purchased these speakers for my daughter to use with Iphone and Mac computer. Easy hook up. Lots of clean clear sound. Perfect for the application.
Pros: Easy set up. Sound is great. Bose reputation.
I purchased these to replace a pair of computer speakers that came with a circa 1998 computer that had a separate bass unit. I had carried them over with subsequent computer purchases. The bass unit measured 11"x11"x5"H so took up a lot of space. Could not be more pleased with the purchase. A truly great sound.for such small speakers.
Pros: A compact set of speakers with great overall sound and an excellent bass. Love them.
Cons: The computer to speaker mini patch audio cable only measures 3'. Because of my restrict set up, I need about 6'. I called Bose about it and they are sending out me out a 6' cable at no charge. Great Bose CS.
If you are looking for a great pair of speakers for your home computer....you have found them. I am amazed at the high quality bass that these put out. I spend a lot of time on YouTube searching out old songs, and these Bose speakers have really brought YT to life. I had a pair of Boston Acoustics speakers, and the Bose just blows them away.....You won't be unhappy with these ! And, they look great on the desk !!!
Pros: Great sound....very good bass....they look great....
Cons: None that I can find.......
If you are looking for a small set of speakers with big sound, and want to avoid buying a system that depends on a subwoofer the size of a small refrigerator, you will really like these speakers. I wanted to avoid a 2+1 system or a two-speaker system with bookshelf sized speakers without compromising on sound quality. These do the job. The speakers are about 3"x6"x8" each and put out enough volume to satisfy any listener within 10-15 feet without taking up all your desk space. Excellent bass and treble, balanced, and detailed sound of even the smallest of background sounds in a movie track. The on/off switch is built into the volume control. There is no power-on light, but I don't believe these speakers draw much, if any power without a line-in signal since they use the newer styled power adapter that doesn't draw phantom power. My only gripe is that the length of the line in cord between the speakers and PC is too short. It should be at least 6'. A really nice system at a great price.
Pros: Lots of Bass. Detailed and balanced sound. Good volume. Small Footprint.
Cons: Line in cord is too short.
I have been looking for some way to make music from my laptop louder and better quality. I didn't have a clue what I needed, but I got a little email saying "by the way, these speakers are on sale this week". I was totally confident that a Crutchfield/Bose combination would have to be great. I really depend on these guys to understand my needs and give me good advice. They have always been so friendly and helpful when I have called to ask questions or need suggestions. Trust is rare these days and these guys have earned mine. I knew that the speakers would be a great deal for the price. I wouldn't even know enough to appreciate the added features of something more expensive. I played an Anthony & The Johnson's song straight off of the internet; first without the speakers and then with them. He was as as amazed at the difference as I was. I didn't know what I was missing.
Pros: Excellent price (and on sale) for the quality of the speakers. I love the particular sound of Bose (I have the headphones) so the bass is perfect for me. Easy hook up and store easily when not connected. I find myself listening to a lot more music while I am doing other things since I get great quality sound with the flexibility of not being tied to headphones. This is an outstanding product and perfect for me. Getting the email saving me money was just the kicker!
Cons: I didn't know about them sooner.
I really like these little speakers. They are inexpensive, well built and sound great. I bought a pair of series II a year or so back for my laptop and needed a pair for a crappy little TV in my kitchen. Plug them into the wall, plug them into the TV or whatever and done. Easy-breezy
Pros: Inexpensive, great value
Cons: If you want high-high-end sound then spend high-end money. There are no cons for these speakers when viewed through a value filter.
Best sounding hundred dollar speakers I've ever owned, on sale. I'm 64, I've owned a few, great overall quality. Next price level for the audio quality is 3-4 hundred dollars, after that 6-8 hundred dollars. Perfect for listening to I-tunes through my lap-top. Thanx Also, I thought free second day delivery was a mistake. I live on Maui, speakers were shipped from Illinois, arrived second day UPS, couldn't believe it. No charge
Pros: Great price, great sound, compact, free shipping
Great pair or computer speakers! Best I've owned and I've run through a few pair that just didn't meet my needs. These speakers are crisp and sound much larger than they are. Another great product from Bose.
Pros: Sound Quality Fills the room Size
Definitely Sound Fills the Room. I upgraded my speakers with a subwoofer to the Bose Companion III. Setup was quick & easy, computer recognized the device immediately. The lack of treble and bass knobs requires some getting use to but the sound generated is fantastic. I would highly recommend this speaker system as an upgrade to the standard speakers provided with the computer.
Pros: Compact and space saving. Superior sound quality. Economically priced.
Cons: Lacks treble and bass control knobs
I originally purchased the II of this model and was having some bad luck. Multiple sites and nothing but poor outcomes. I decided to go with the III that were $10 from a company that knows how to treat customers. The product arrived very quickly unlike S*!sC&%b. The product was immaculate, they sound and work perfect! I am very pleased with the product and Crutchfield, of course, handled the order perfectly. Not sure why I tried to find a better deal and found nothing but frustration. I paid $10 more and got a newer model. I am happy with the product and experience shopping with Crutchfield!
Pros: Install is very simple. The sound is great from 2 speakers that do not need a separate sub. The sound is very clear and with the true room, it sounds great any where in the room. Or my office which is where they are currently set up. The series II had the silver metal front, I very much like the look of the III and feel that they look better on my desk than the series II would have. I am very pleased with the sound from speakers of this size, what you would expect from Bose.
Cons: I was not looking for this option, but they are not wireless. If this is what you are looking for, you will need to look at another model. No other Cons thus far.
Very simple, but very powerful and clear speakers.
Pros: Small and neat.
Cons: Price a little high.
Great sound in a small package! These things have a definite "base" without an additional sub-woofer. Fir their cost, as well as their small size, the sound out put of these speakers is amazing. Like most things Bose, they are extremely durable and well made, out of quality materials. Now,don't get me wrong, these are no substitute for a full size system, but it's too inconvenient to lug a full size set of speakers around for a laptop computer, and the sound out put of these, especially for the cost, is absolutely amazing.
Pros: Durable construction, of quality materials. Sall, compact size, good sound quality and response.
Cons: No remote, no substitute for full size speakers, and some may not liker the perceived enhanced base response.
Well, after doing his due diligence, the 13 year old boy who lives in our house & eats all the food decided to get new computer speakers. They met with his expectations and he's a teenager; he knows everything.
Pros: Inexpensive, terrific sound quality, great purchase.
Cons: If you have a teenager in the room above you listening to music all the time - do not buy these speakers for them. They will be banging their feet & sound like migratory elk landing on your ceiling.
They work well if you like a great deal of base. I have to reduce the TV base setting to 10% to make these tolerable.
Pros: they look good
Cons: expensive and to much base
Very nice speakers...........compact and powerful tho the amp could be a little stronger.
Pros: great sound quality, good price, nice design
Cons: a tad light on amplification
The delivery was fast and free. The instructions for set up were stupid easy. The hook up cables were thick and substantial. The sound is crisp, clear and full of that rich Bose base. Upon initially listening to them, I really regret not getting the higher end model.
Pros: decent bang for the buck easy set up nice crisp sound thick cables rich Bose base for size
Cons: short footage of connecting cables price
Not impressed. sound is muffled, no on-off indicator light so you can't see if they are on easily. no separate tone control. Look elsewhere for computer speakers. Maybe worth checking out if they are on sale but overall not impressed with these speakers.
Pros: nice and clean looking.
Cons: muffled sound, not impressed at all. no separate tone control.
Nice sound without the clutter and mass
Pros: Price considering their BOSE
Cons: No LED, but I never turn them off anyway
Great product, great sound!!
The Bose Company makes consistent quality products and these small speakers give me the great sound that I was seeking. I could not believe how much clarity and bass they provide with music or just listening to a speech. I highly recommend this Bose product for your computer or other sound needs and at a great price too. I have been investing in Bose products since 1977. They still deliver what you pay for....
Pros: Great size to fit my space needs but super sound quality to enjoy in my everyday listening needs. I am very pleased with my purchase.
I don't have a lot of money to spend, but at the same time I'm very picky about how my music sounds. I test every piece of music equipment I get against Queen's "March of the Black Queen" and these had me clapping my hands together in joy and shouting "yeah!!!" right off the bat. These speakers were definitely the right item at the right price. They replaced a set of travel speakers which were tinny (to say the least) so I was aware that nearly anything would sound better, but I couldn't believe I could get Bose at this price and I'm glad I sprung for them. The sound seems a bit bass-heavy to me but not enough to make me give a bad review. And I could have been influenced by the nearly complete lack of bass on the preceding speakers. All in all, I'm very pleased with this purchase. I know others have complained about the length of the wiring, but it works fine for me. I like that I can crank these all the way up without experiencing any serious sound issues.
I love the speakers. I received them today and the sound is A+. I liked the price as well.
Pros: Great sound easy setup
I am hard of hearing, but I love to listen to music when I am working in my home office. I was seeking speakers where I could push the volume and use a quite detailed and personalized equalizer in iTunes to give my ears a coherent sound. These speakers absolutely fit the bill. I can hear the music clearly and when I push them to provide a larger sound, they respond quite well. I am very pleased with these speakers and especially think they are well worth the reasonable price I paid.
I connected these speakers to a 40 inch flat screen TV to improve sound from behind my living room couch as a surround sound type effect and they added a nice clear sound . A really great way to inexpensively fill your living room with sound to make hearing any kind of TV program better .
Pros: Simple to hook up and after initial setting up volume I have not had to readjust the volume control settings on the speakers and control all sound through the TV volume .
Cons: I did have to run a wire from the back of the TV to the speakers but I think it gives a cleaner sound than wireless type speakers that I have tried before and don't get any static from other electrical devices like a ceiling fan motor.
I am very happy with my new Bose speakers. They make my laptop sound like a very expensive stereo system while streaming my favorite music.
Pros: Compact, wonderful sound, easy to use.
Cons: More wires to deal with, but that's life in the electronic age.
I bought this to replace Logitech speakers that I felt did not have enough treble.
Pros: Superb sound and depth (I did not understand what depth meant until I bought these. Sounds like music is coming from between my speakers. I like loud music and 75% has been good with these so far so lots of power. Overall based on sound quality for the money they are good. If you have more to spend then check other options.
Cons: Extremely short cords. No power on light so you do not know it is still on. Not the cheapest speakers. No way too change sound balance eg treble.
I recently upgraded to a Windows 8 computer, which was my first computer that came without speakers. I had been using my Bose headphones because I wasn't sure which speakers to buy. My TV and music players all play through Bose speakers, but I never knew Bose made speakers for computer use. A couple of weeks ago I received an email from Crutchfield advertising the Bose Companion 2 Series III multimedia speaker system. As soon as I read the description, I knew I had to try them. It was a surprisingly low price for a Bose product. Plus, I had nothing to lose, because I knew I could return them if I didn't like them. I ordered them, and they arrived in just a few days. As soon as I plugged them in, i knew I had made the right choice. The sound is terrific, and I was surprised at how compact the speakers are. I could not be more pleased, with both the speakers and Crutchfield's price and service.
Superb classic rich Bose sound. Full bass and depth. Small and elegant on the desktop. Worth the price for the high quality, and Monster cable adds to the quality of the sound.
My son received these for his computer as a Christmas present. He is thrilled with the sound quality! He says it sounds like a movie theater. I'm pleased with them too. I highly recommend them!
Pros: Easy to install and the sound quality is great for the price!
Got these speakers for my mom's t.v. to replace an old set of cpu speakers she had. Hooked em up on christrmas and have heard nothing but praise. "these sound so good", " I can hear things I never heard before when I watch my shows". Not a lot of bass but still a nice quality set for what its used for. Crutchfield deserves props too.... best price, free shipping and it was here in 3 days, awesome!
Pros: great sound, small footprint, aux in
Cons: none so far
I got these for watching movies on my laptop/IPod. I expected them to sound ok, but not this good! I almost went with the JBL set for the same price. No regrets here what so ever. The sound is crisp and warm, with bass being more than satisfactory, especially when watching movies/Netflix. If your into big bass, then get a sub. For the price, you get big sound from something small. I think they sound good now, though I'm hoping they will sound better after I call Crutchfield back and take them up on their Monster cable recommendation!
Pros: Easy to use. Compact and great for on the go.
Got these for my wife. She did not want a subwoofer, and wanted great sound in a compact speaker. These fit the bill perfectly! The bass response is actually very good with the rear ports. I'm very impressed!
Pros: Great sound at a great price!
Cons: I've heard that the power supply can fail, but we shall wait and see. I'm sure we can replace that easily if needed.
I saw this speaker system, saw the name and saw the price. I figured I'd go for it. I was NOT disappointed. I also like the "auxiliary in" feature.
Pros: Big sound. Clear and articulate along with good bass response. Doesn't take up a lot of room. Stylish appearance. Very affordable.
Cons: Wish it had some kind of pilot light. (They look cool.)
still in box its a Christmas present 3 stars until post holiday
Very nice speakers, very clear sound great bose product. There is not a huge punch in base like other systems with sub boxes but it has just enough bass great for movies on the comp, music ect.
Pros: Clear crisp sound for reasonable price
Being a fan of Bose, I purchased these to use with my clock radio (Sharper Image), as I like to listen to classical music at night and wanted better sound. Wow! Very impressed! As suggested by another reviewer, I also purchased a monster cable and that has made a difference in the sound quality as well. Others have complained about the bass, or lack of, but I have no complaints, I think the base is fine. I'm also impressed with Crutchfield - will be my "go-to" for electronics from now on!
Pros: Great quality sound
If your looking for a multi purpose set if speakers with excellent quality, look no further. These speakers are great for computers, TV, games, movies and of course music. The sound quality is second to none and look great on a desk top.
Pros: Stylish, loud, extremely good quality and balance, not too expensive.
Cons: If your going for unbelievable bass, not quite for you. Bose says in a letter that bass is not accentuated, rather they go for quality. They still do have a great though
Replace my previous speakers and large sub woofer with these. Better sound and less space consuming.
Pros: small footprint
Cons: ugly black
Pros: Great sound for the price
I am some what of an audiophile and I found these speakers for my desk lap top to be perfect size and sound quality. Bill Evans, Milt Jackson etc. sounds very good even with out a sub woofer. Well designed. I may buy another pair to use in my garage with my MP3 player while working in there.
Pros: Great sound, quality build and good size for desk. Everything is included in the box to interface with your computer. I feel also it is a good value. Two audio inputs are a good idea.
Cons: Power supply is a little large in size put produces no audio hum.
The speakers are great. Wonderful sound, Compact so they don't take up a lot of room. They arrived quickly and work perfectly. Definitely will be back to buy more from Crutchfield.
Beautiful, clear speakers for playing back music while working on your desktop computer. Not the 5-speaker w/subwoofer system I had to replace, but very nice sound.
Pros: Quality sound
I really like these Bose speakers. They are impressive compared to the small footrprint and the reasonable price.
Pros: These speakers sound great!
Speakers were just what I was expecting. The usual top Bose quality, easy to set up and they sound really good!
The speakers were reasonably priced, and you can't ever go wrong with Bose. Highly recommend.
Pros: Great sounds from a PC
Cons: Wish they had Bluetooth capability

Powered Computer Speakers: The Bose Companion 2 is a two-piece computer speaker system (Left & Right speakers) that reproduces full, natural sound at your computer. The Bose Companion 2 will dramatically improve the audio from your computer, while its sleek, space-saving design complements your computer environment.
TrueSpace Technology: The Bose Companion 2 speaker system features TrueSpace stereo signal processing circuitry. This proprietary technology helps maximize audio performance by widening the image of closely placed speakers, making the audio seem to come from a soundstage wider than the two speakers.
Ported Cabinets: Each speaker features a rear-panel 3/4" diameter port to provide clearer, deeper bass from a small enclosure.
Automatic Tone Adjustment: The Companion 2 speakers automatically adjusts the tonal balance to give you rich audio performance at practically any listening level.
Dual Inputs: The Bose Companion 2 has two 3.5mm aux inputs. These dual analog inputs allow you keep the speakers hooked up to your computer, while you use the second input to hook up another source, such as a portable audio device. The dual 3.5mm aux inputs are located on the back of the same speaker. One 46" stereo audio minijack cable is included.
Headphone Jack: The right speaker is fitted with a front-panel 3.5mm headphone output; the speakers are muted when headphones are plugged in.
Tethered Speaker Connection: The left speaker features an attached 6' audio cable with a proprietary connector which plugs into the rear-panel proprietary port on back of the rear speaker (labeled "To Left Speaker").
Volume Control: The volume control is conveniently located on the front of the right speaker, giving you easy access. On your computer or an optional sound source, set the volume at about two-thirds the maximum volume. Then use the knob on the right speaker to adjust the volume as you listen.
Angled Design + Magnetically Shielded: The angled design of these speakers allows them to direct sound upward toward a seated listener. So placing them on a desktop is a good choice. Magnetic shielding protects your computer monitor from interference when the speakers are positioned close to it.
AC Power Supply: The Bose Companion 2 operates off of standard household AC current using the supplied AC power adapter. The AC power adapter plugs into the back of the right speaker.
