Block out distractions and listen wirelessly with the Bose QuietControl 30 headphones.
Leave it to Bose® to bring us our first in-ear headphones with both Bluetooth® and noise-cancelling technology. The QuietControl® 30 wireless headphones offer the company's famous noise cancellation, with precise control over how much external noise they block out. Just tap the in-line remote to adjust the level of cancellation to compensate for the distractions around you. Your music and podcasts play wirelessly from your phone or mobile device.
I got a chance to try these headphones out, and found them surprisingly light, considering all the technology packed inside. The sturdy neckband houses the rechargeable battery and internal circuitry, but also helps keep the headphones stable. I could move my neck and head around freely without worrying about the cord whipping around.
Pink Floyd's "Wish you Were Here" kicks off Crutchfield's "Headphone essentials" Spotify playlist and this track really played to the strengths of the QC® 30. As David Gilmour's acoustic guitar played along with background chords on the "clock radio," the riff sounded more startling and striking to me than it has in years — likely due to the complete silence surrounding the soundstage. When the vocals came in, then later the drums, bass guitar, and other instruments, these small headphones handled it all with graceful power.
Light and comfortable
I often recommend Bose® for friends who need portable headphones, but are skeptical of in-ears. That's because Bose® StayHear®+ tips don't fit like most. The soft, cone-shaped tips stay in the outer part of your ear canal, while the stability loops holds them in place. I can personally listen longer using them than I can with many other ear tips.
The QuietControl 30 headphones include three sizes of tips so you can find the right fit. The StayHear+ design also helps seal out external noise for better cancellation. And together with the freedom of movement offered by the neckband, they almost made it feel like music was floating around me.

Average Customer Review(s):
I can't believe the fabulous sound that comes from these! Excellent!
Pros: The sound!
Cons: Can't think of any.
This is my second purchase of this product from Crutchfield. It is a real nice product with effective noise cancelling and better sound quality. Connection is automatic and can be controlled from the unit button or from your BOSE phone app. This is my second purchase as the first one broke after 18 months of daily use. It's not perfect , but it still is the better product for me. I bought my first unit in 2016. That particular unit had the outer rubber cover peeled off due to adhesion lost and then buttons stopped working. Just realized later that the body broke from inside which was not obvious as the rubber coat pretty much hid it. I'd like to try other brands, but hoped that the newer version already corrected those flaws. Hoping for a longer use this time.
Pros: Multiple connections , sound quality, it's BOSE.
Cons: Had issues with my first unit having the outer rubber coating losing its adhesion and exposing the battery and the controls inside.
I use these when I workout and travel. I love them. Connect quickly and sound great.
Pros: Comfortable and just enough noise cancellation to be safe
Cons: Short charging cord
Mostly love it. The sound is great, battery life is good. It's not good for talking on phone.
Pros: Sound, battery life
Cons: Minor: the neckband constantly slides sideways around my neck. Fairly major: The microphone is way too sensitive. In fairness, it's not marketed as a noise cancelling microphone, but people on the phone complain that they can hear EVERY little thing, including my footsteps. Also, any wind is very loud to people on the other end. The software is updated. And one more: I wish there was a way to turn the sound cancellation full on and full off (like the QC20 wired earpiece).
Though a good headset, Bose could have done a lot better by design or added some accessories to combat some its flaws like for instance the way it rides around your neck when you are on the move and maybe magnetic clasps to keep your ear buds from getting lost when not in use. The noise cancellation is scary good with the exception of the pop you hear when it detects loud noises, voice reception could be better as well as sound quality, phone calls are rather bassy range in terms of blutooth connectivity is rather low. Feels good in your hands and comfortable around your neck but thats not what I'm paying for.
Pros: Decent headset not the best.
Cons: Over priced, no other technological features besides noise cancellation, no voice control, nothing!
I would like these headphones were it not for the extremely sensitive mic. This mic picks up every sound and while you might think that is a good thing, think again. I've had so many people complain to me about the harsh background noise. Baby crying 20 yards away...the person on the phone thought the baby was next to me. Typing on the keyboard? Every key click will be heard loudly. I even unfolded a receipt while talking on the phone using this headset and the person on the phone immediately asked, with an offended tone, "what is that noise!?". If it weren't for this issue, they would be great headphones. I called Bose and complained. They acknowledged the issue and said they were working on a fix, but they had no date. Unless you'll be using this headset while talking on the phone in very quiet settings, I would not get these.
Pros: Great sound, great noise cancelling
Cons: Way too sensitive microphone picks up every little sound.
These headphones are great! I first tried the Bose QC-35 over-the-ear cans but they made my ears hot. I found a site that did detailed testing and these have almost as good noise cancellation as the QC-35. Although I'm not an audiophile, I am a musician and care a lot about sound quality, and to me, these sound great. I really like the feature of adjustable noise cancellation, in 5 or 6 steps, from full on to "negative"--- in other words, the microphone actually picks up ambient sound and amplifies it. With that feature, it's probably pretty safe to drive or jog wearing these.
I think the Bose in ear headphones are the only ones on the market that fit comfortably in my ears. I have tried the Jaybird x3, which I did not think sounded as good and hurt my ear after a while. The earpieces sometimes came off and were easy to lose. I also own a pair of Bose over ear noise canceling headphones that do a great job of canceling out background noise. I would say almost too good for me, as I cannot hear my significant other call me names. These seem to help with this and thus save my relationship. I do not know how durable these will be over time. Perhaps earbuds are just a consumable product. If so, these may be on the pricey side if they do not last a few years. It would be nice if they included a little longer charge cable. The charge port cover is sometimes a little hard to get open, but longer fingernails help.
Pros: Good balance of noise cancellation Comfort
I have an old set of wired Bose studio, wired Sennheiser, Bose QC 15, Definitive Symphony 1, and the QC30. The phones fit well with the medium tips. The battery lasted 11 hours of flight time (turned off on layovers). These are my go to flight headphones. The QC15 blocks slightly more noise than the QC30 which blocks slightly more noise than the Symphony 1. The sound is better than the QC15 but not better than the Symphony 1. I tend to lose bluetooth 15-20 feet away from the source, sooner if there is a wall in the way. The Symphony 1 has a range of 25-30 feet. Most Bose headphones have a muddy base but this one does not. On small turboprop planes the noise is markedly diminished. The QC15 and Symphony 1 have shells that resonate with the prop. On jets, the noise that filters in, is about the same additional noise as turning on the vent-a gentle whoosh.
Pros: Light Long battery life Good performance all around.
Cons: Could have better sound. Could have a longer range.
I field tested this product on a recent flight, with my trusty old wired QC15 On Ear headphones alongside for comparison. Perhaps it was the earbuds size (I used the default Medium size which came factory fitted, I did not try to put on either the supplied Small or Large ones), perhaps it was the fiddly controls which were difficult to adjust: whatever, but the Noise Cancellation feature was much weaker than the QC15's, to the point of being non-existent. I will field test it again, if possible within the 60 day trial period; if not, I think I will return it and replace it with either the QC15 or QC35 Wireless. A pity because the small size is a great plus.
Pros: Small size; optional earbud sizes.
Cons: Fiddly controls; very weak to non-existent noise cancellation feature in a side by side field test with an old QC15.
Very disappointed. I purchased these for my husband to replace his Bose Quiet Comfort 20 noise cancelling wired earbuds that he received 2 years ago based on the positive reviews of the product and I regret that he has gone back to using the wired earbuds. The blue tooth on the QuietControl 30 wireless goes in and out even when his phone is in his pocket. The noise cancelling is not as good as his old Bose noise cancelling earbuds. Very disappointed that I spent so much money for a product that did not meet my expectations for quality of a Bose product. I will return them.
Cons: Bluetooth function doesn't work well. Noise cancelling not as good as Bose QuietComfort noise cancelling earbuds.
They are great sounds just like the Bose blue tooth speakers i have, very quite and fit Great.. worth every penny.
Everything I wanted in a wireless headphone. Excellent noise cancellation and music reproduction.
Pros: Comfort, fit noise cancellation, ease of pairing w/bluetooth
I bought these headphones for my husband and it was well worth the cost for about 1 week. Then they did not hold a charge for more than 3 hours. My husband called Bose who had him return them for a replacement. He sent them back, paid for shipping and tracking and our fingers are crossed that we receive ones that hold a charge. He is also without the earphones in the interim. Very disappointing for a Bose product and the cost.
These headphones work great and the noise canceling and in ear design make them worth it just for those features alone.
Pros: Lightweight, comfortable to wear all day, good sound, noise cancelling works great
Cons: Neck band is a touch too thick and stiff, app reboots connection every time you switch back to it, battery lasts just long enough for a regular days use but no more, no wired option when battery is dead, microphone isn't the best
Great product-- love it
Great headphones. Noise canceling control is a great. Sound very good. Highly recommend.
Pros: Noise canceling. Good sound. Comfortable on neck.
Really great for listening music. Making phone calls is ok (microphone does not seem to be pick up everything).
The earphones are very comfy on the ears and neck. The noisecanceling feature are great for my long commutes and flights. The bass ain't bad either when listening to music.
1st time Bose has disappointed. I've tried all three ear bud sizes that were included and none fit well. Darn things just won't stay put. Noise cancellation function is marginal; about equal to my 1st generation Bose full ear headset & nowhere near as good as my 2nd. Sorry, but they're going back.
Pros: Crutchfield return policy.
great sound also easy to sync to device
Pros: Very comfortable wearing around neck
I believe that these are by far the best noise cancelling headphones I have had the pleasure of using. Bose has always made excellent and very useful products to make our daily routine easier, and these Quiet control headphones are just perfect for mine. They are designed for comfort and for the convenience of not getting tangled up when moving around . They work by connecting to a Free Downloadable App by Bluetooth. They have cntrol button so that you can control how much of the background noises you want to hear, and on the other side is the volume control box. Comes with extra earpiece replacements, charger, a nice heavy duty zip storage case, manual and warranty information. You can get up to 10 hours per full charge and less then 3 hours to completely charge from dead. I would totally 100% recommend the BOSE QUIET CONTROL 30 WIRELESS HEADPHONES to family, friends, and anyone that is needing a great quality, easy to use, lightweight and just all around Awesomly handy headphones.
Pros: There is only Pros on these. They are wireless, designed for comfort and productivity, made from great quality material, work great eleminating out what you don't want to hear, comes with a nice storage zip up case, holds charge great.
Cons: The Volume could be a little louder I guess if I had to pick something
I like the feature that allows me to"adjust" the level of noise reduction to allow me to wear it in situations when I need to listed for overhead boarding announcements, driving, or other situations where you don't want to completely isolate myself. It has plenty of battery life and it's very comfortable to wear. Another feature I like is that since it hangs around my neck it is easy to remove and reinsert the earpiece(s) from my ear(s) when using it with my phone to answer calls because the earpiece(s) stay easily accessable.

Overview: The Bose QuietControl 30 wireless headphones feature proprietary Bose technologies to provide you with excellent sound quality, while controlling how much ambient sound to let in. The QuietControl 30 in-ear headphones have an Apple-compatible in-line remote/microphone, and a lightweight neckband, and come with three pairs of ear tips. The headphones can be stored in the supplied zippered carrying case when not in use.
Bluetooth: The QuietControl 30 wireless headphones feature Bluetooth technology to connect to your mobile device. The wireless range is approximately 33 feet (10 meters). You can store up to 8 paired mobile devices in the headphone pairing list, and you can actively connect to two devices at once, switching between them as needed.
Apple Compatibility: The QuietControl 30's in-line remote/microphone is compatible with the following Apple products:
Neckband: The headphones have a lightweight contoured neckband that comfortably rests at the base of your neck. The weight of the headphones and cables is transferred onto your neck and collarbone, allowing the ear buds to gently rest in your ears. When you're not listening, you can simply take the ear buds out and let them hang from the neckband. The ANC and Bluetooth circuitry and the rechargeable battery are all contained inside the neckband, so there's no in-line control module.
Controllable Noise Cancelling: The QuietControl 30 features Controllable Noise Cancelling, the next generation of Bose's patented Acoustic Noise Cancelling technology. The degree of noise cancelling can be controlled by the user, either on the headphones themselves, or through the Bose Connect app (requires iOS 9.0 or later). Two buttons on the in-line remote let you select up to 12 levels of noise cancelling. On the app, you can adjust the amount of noise cancelling by sliding your finger along a 270° arc to "dial in" the precise amount of noise cancelling.
StayHear+ QC Ear Tips: The Bose headphones come with StayHear+ QC silicone ear tips in three sizes (Small/Medium/Large) to help assure a more accurate and comfortable fit. The StayHear+ QC ear tips are made of the same soft silicone material as the original StayHear ear tips, but have a unique umbrella shape that creates a gentle seal at the entrance of the ear canal. Just like the original StayHear tips, the StayHear+ QCs stay securely in your ears, even during rigorous activities.
In-line Remote: The QuietControl 30 gives you control over your headphones and your music. The 5-button in-line remote/microphone is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch, and features volume up/down, answer/end call, next track, previous track, fast forward, fast reverse, and Siri voice control. The two buttons on the side of the in-line remote control the amount of noise cancelling. The microphone enables you to make phone calls and perform voice commands with your iPhone.
Rechargeable Battery: The QuietControl 30s are powered by a rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery in the neckband. The battery is charged with the supplied USB cable in approximately 2 hours. A fully-charged battery provides approximately 10 hours of battery life.
Storage Case: The headphones come with a carrying case that protects your headphones and accessories when not in use. The case has a small inside pocket for small items, and a zippered closure.
