Denon Original Disc Drive: The disc drive design of the DCD-1600NE is built with a high-class S.V.H (Suppress Vibration Hybrid) mechanism. New, condensed signal paths and circuitry that control pickup and decode noise are minimized to prevent excess noise and preserve sound quality. The hybrid construction of the S.V.H. loader provides stability in the disc drive, allowing for the decoding and signal reading with the upmost accuracy. The low center of gravity of the mechanism suppresses vibration occurring inside the DCD-1600NE as well as outside the structure. By eliminating excess vibration, servo-related operations are minimized. The reduction of unnecessary controls and current consumption allows for digital signals to be read from the disc with optimal accuracy.

Vibration-Resistant & Direct Mechanical Ground Construction: The DCD-1600NE's vibration-resistant design & direct mechanical ground construction reduces the adverse audio effects of heavy components so that sound quality meets Denon standards. Power transformers are fitted near the bottom of DCD-1600NE and immediately above the insulators to prevent unwanted vibration. By lowering the transformer, the vibration surrounding the chassis is reduced, resulting in pristine sound.

Advanced Circuitry with Minimized Signal Paths: The circuit patterns in the DCD-1600NE are thoughtfully engineered to make signal paths as short as possible. With shorter circuits, the interference between circuits and left and right channels is reduced, and the adverse influences on audio signals are minimized. As a result, the circuit paths in the DCD-1600NE reproduce sound that's clean, highly transparent and faithful to the original recording.

Advanced AL32 Processing Plus: The DCD-1600NE is equipped with Advanced AL32 Processing Plus, the latest in analog waveform reproduction technology from Denon. Advanced AL32 Processing Plus utilizes data interpolation algorithms, which support high-resolution audio sources. The algorithms add in the points that should exist before and after large quantities of data, smoothing out the waveform and restoring information that was lost during the digital recording. The resulting playback is highly detailed, free of interferences, richly expressive in the lower range and beautifully faithful to the original sound. Listen to songs as the artist intended.

DAC Master Clock: To accurately synchronize digital circuits, the DCD-1600NE is built with a DAC Master Clock design that treats the DAC as the master when clock signals are supplied. Crafted with exceptional quality, the master clock is immediately adjacent to the DAC, which suppresses jitter and ensures optimal precision in D/A conversion. It serves as the reference for semiconductor operation and optimizes digital audio circuitry. Two integrated clock oscillators reduce phase noise, each addressing a sampling frequency (44.1 kHz and 48 kHz). The DAC Master Clock is exceptional for multiple sampling frequencies from 44.1kHz to 192kHz and even up to DSD 5.6MHz, without rounding.

Pure Direct Mode: Listen with Pure Direct Mode on the DCD-1600NE. Pure Direct Mode feeds sound directly from the SACD player to your integrated amplifier or AV receiver, bypassing any DSP processing that might otherwise color the signal. What you hear is clean, detailed, accurate sound. In Pure Direct mode, the display turns off and digital audio output stops. This reduces the source of noise that can adversely affect sound quality, enabling high quality playback.

Analog & Digital Outputs: In addition to its analog stereo RCA outputs, the DCD-1600NE features one optical (toslink) and one coaxial (RCA) digital output to connect to the digital input of an integrated amplifier or AV receiver.

Note: Digital audio output stops during playback of the HD layer of Super Audio CDs, DSD files, and files with a sampling frequency of 32kHz.

Front-Panel & Remote Control: The supplied IR remote control features an ergonomically-designed layout that includes a cursor keypad, number keypad and dedicated function buttons such as random, repeat, info and program. There are also push-button controls on the front-panel of the SACD player to operate Power, Eject, Play/Pause, Stop, and Previous/Next Track.

  • Program Playback: From the remote control you can program up to 20 tracks for playback.
  • Direct Search: You can enter a song track or music file directly using the remote's numeric keypad.

Front-Panel Display: The front-panel display indicates the disc's total tracks and total time, as well as the track number and track time, and the song title, artist name and album name (depending on the source format), along with icons for random mode, repeat 1 and repeat all modes, and a folder icon for data discs. The dimmer function features 3 levels of display brightness that is adjustable via the remote control

Auto-Standby: If there is no input signal or operation for approximately 30 minutes, the Denon SACD player will automatically go into Standby mode.

IR In/Out: The Denon DCD-1600NE is outfitted with an IR input (3.5mm) and IR output (3.5mm) for installing an optional IR repeater system (sold separately).

Customer Q&A

7 questions already asked

Does the DCD1600NE automatically detect type of disc and play the correct format (SACD or regular CD) ?
[ Staxus  Jun 20, 2022 ]
1 answer
That's absolutely affirmative Robert. SACD's have a couple layers of encoding, usually in case they get played on standard CD player's so they can still operate. This unit will automatically "know" when SACD is being played, or when a standard disk is loaded in! THD on this unit is an unimaginable 0.0018% when playing SACD, crazy!

who makes the dac in this player?
[ Jason  Apr 04, 2022 ]

I looked through the owner's manual, and as far as I can tell, the dac is made by Dennon. The manufacturer of the dac is not mentioned, but they refer to "Advanced AL 32 Processing" as being theirs. If this is part of the dac then I would assume the dac is made by Dennon. I hope this helps.

"High Bitrate and High Sampling with Advanced AL32 Processing Plus A high bitrate and high sampling has been achieved with Denon's unique data interpolation algorithm. 16 bit audio signals are converted to a high bitrate of 32 bit and 44.1 kHz sampling signals are up-sampled by 16x to achieve smoother recreation of sound waves. Data interpolation is also used, predicting interpolation points from a large number of surrounding points to provide audio as close as possible to the original sound. This elaborate restoration of data lost during digital recording achieves fine, distortion-free rendering, accurate sound localizing, rich bass and recreation that is faithful to the original sound." Without opening it up it reads like they make their own

Not sure however I have CD's from the 70's and 80's which I began to remove from my collection. After purchasing this unit, I've renewed listening of these cds with zeal! The music has never been better!
[ Omar  Feb 25, 2020 ]
I have three other SACD players (A high end Sony, a high end McIntosh, and a low end Pioneer)...alll of them have issues playing the SACD layer of hybrid discs.....can you assure me that the Denon DCD-1600NE will consistently read the SACD layer..? Thanks - Roger - Ada, Oklahoma
[ Roger  Jul 17, 2019 ]
1 answer
The only potential issue would be if you are using the digital output of the Denon CD player. Digital audio output stops during playback of the HD layer of Super Audio CDs, DSD files, and files with a sampling frequency of 32kHz.
