Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
Great sound quality and very convenient!
The HEOS 7 works well in open floor-plans, or anywhere you need to fill a large space with music. (AC power connection required.)
Denon packed the HEOS 7 with five built-in drivers and plenty of power to push them. This update to their top-of-the-line wireless speaker can still fill a large room with full, natural sound and plenty of punchy bass. And now the HEOS 7 gives you wireless access to pretty much all of your music — including high-resolution files and Bluetooth sources.
Download the HEOS app for your Apple®, Android™, or Kindle device. You get full control of this powerhouse, along with other HEOS speakers throughout your home. Play tunes wirelessly from your library and your choice of streaming services like Pandora® or Spotify®. And when you have guests over, they can quickly pair up and share their own playlists through the HEOS 7 speaker via Bluetooth.
When customers reviewed the first generation of HEOS, they noted how fast and easy it was to set up. Denon hasn't changed that a bit with their latest series. An included setup cable connects your smartphone or tablet to the HEOS 7. With a few taps of the app, your Wi-Fi settings are automatically transferred. When you unplug the cable, you'll have full wireless control of the speaker.
The HEOS app lets you choose one song for the HEOS 7, and something completely different for, say, a HEOS 1 speaker in the kitchen, or a HEOS HomeCinema sound bar in the living room. Or you can group HEOS speakers together and have the same tunes playing throughout several rooms. Have first-generation HEOS gear? All HEOS components are compatible with each other.
The HEOS 7's five amplifiers and five drivers deliver your tunes with clarity and punch.
HEOS gives you a wide array of music options. You have access to music stored on your smartphone or tablet, plus downloads stored on a server or computer.
There's also support for Pandora®, TIDAL, Amazon Prime, and SiriusXM. Pull up a new song or podcast on SoundCloud, or stream Internet radio from TuneIn or iHeartRadio. And if you're a Spotify® Premium subscriber, Spotify Connect lets you play all your favorite albums and playlists.
Want to listen to live clips from YouTube? Or maybe you have a new music service that's not yet available directly through the HEOS app? The latest generation of HEOS has you covered. Use Bluetooth to stream any and all audio sources from your phone or tablet through the HEOS 7, without restrictions. You can also send that Bluetooth stream to other HEOS speakers.
HEOS 5 - This mid-sized speaker is perfect for medium-sized rooms like a kitchen or bedroom.
HEOS 3 - Set up this HEOS speaker in a bedroom or office.
HEOS HomeCinema - Dramatically improve TV sound and play your music with this sound bar and wireless sub combo.
HEOS Amp - Add HEOS to any pair of speakers with this amplified player.HEOS Link - Enjoy HEOS through your stereo system or with powered speakers

Great sound quality and very convenient!
I've used Denon for my home theater for years. I just replaced my older Denon AVR receiver with a Denon AVR-X4500H. I wanted music in the computer room with good sound without buying another system so I tried the HEOS 7. The fit and finish of the HEOS 7 is what you expect from Denon. A nice product that is well made. The sound of the HEOS 7 is on the warm side and slightly bass heavy. It easily fills a large room. I would have given it 5 stars but it was a pain to connect it via wi-fi with the HEOS app on my IPhone. I had to delete the app then reinstall. I even down powered everything and started again but when it finally worked the sound is amazing. I'm going to buy another HEOS 7 for my back yard. Highly recommended.
Pros: Nice sound that can fill a large room.
Cons: A pain to connect via WI-FI. $$
Got two of these to fill out the music in my house. The sound is excellent at all volumes, and they integrate well with my Denon receiver and HEOS App.
Pros: Good sound and excellent App
Cons: Had to set up with a network cable, not a deal breaker, just annoying
had been planning to get Heos 7 and since I got it, and now that I have it its worth every penny.
Pros: Heos leads the pack period ...!
Cons: People talk of an unfriendly app but its magic when you take time to use.
Where to I begin, but at the same time keep this short? I am FULLY impressed with the (2) Heos 7 units. Small package... HUGE sound. I purchased two of them, along with the sub. The sub STILL sits in the box as the H7's have enough bass on their own in the room they reside in. Two weeks prior to my purchase I asked a friend to bring over his Sonos setup (2x Play7 and sub) for a demo as a way to convince the wife I could get rid of larger speakers (ATC SCM... a larger model) in the house. Now, don't get me wrong, I was impressed by the Sonos, but I am one to move right when everyone else is going left. I like the things that are the underdog, and this time, I smile every day I turn them on. Two days after my Heos arrived, I told my buddy to bring his Sonos setup back over. He smiled when he saw the Heos. Then, we did an A/B test between the Sonos and Heos in my house, then we took it all to his house.... And now, he went out that afternoon/evening and picked himself up some Heos 7's and listed the Sonos on eBay soon after. Lets face it... Sonos does have a somewhat easier app, but after all, Sonos is an app.... Denon is an electronics company. No one who has used the Heos app has had any trouble navigating or using it. My only complaint would be, when you stream music and hear something you like, that if you favorite it on the Heos app, it would also favorite the same on the service you use to stream. In short, fret
Pros: I bought a sub I have no "need" for! But I will be using it. Heos 7's can stand their own ground and still put a smile on your face. The only cord I use is the one into the wall. Nothing was ever plugged into the router. A close friend ditched his Sonos for Heos after he heard these. Sonos = App company Denon Heos = Electronics company I never needed to plug anything into a router as others say the did. I have ZERO connection problems as other say they have.
Cons: App should be directly linked to the streaming source so if you favorite something on the app, it carries over to the service you choose.
Good sound but very bass heavy to my ear. Setting up with iPhone X was difficult. It required me calling Crutchfield tech support who got me through it after a couple of failed attempts. Use of app is okay but the app that controls the AVR is unreliable. Many difficulties connecting app with the AVR to control input and the speakers in different rooms connected to AVR.
Cons: App and setup
I've only used the HEOS 7 as a Bluetooth speaker so far, but based on the sound quality I ordered 2 more for remote speakers for my home entertainment system, I have nothing similar to compare it to, but sounds great and is easy to use.
The HEOS app is the problem. My two HEOS 7 speakers sound great BUT I found they need to be hardwired into the router to work reliably because the WiFi connectivity is NOT reliable. After a lengthy set-up (hours) the speakers cut off frequently using the HEOS app (apple store). I used the app to connect to my Sirius XM account and iTunes library. The problem was so bad I considered returning the speakers. However, I called Crutchfield tech support and decided to purchased CAT5 cables and hard wire the both speakers to a hi-end router, which defeats the purpose of having these very expensive wireless speakers. Then I ensured my Ipad was on the same network (Verizon Fios gigabit)...so, bandwidth shouldn't be a problem for the HEOS app to communicate with various music servers (i.e. Sirius XM). Bottomline, this turned into a very expensive set-up to listen to internet radio. Early on, the app worked great and I thought I had solved the problem. However, overtime, the same issue reoccured (music cut-outs) using the HEOS app with Sirius XM. This is extremely frustrating when you spend this kind of money on hi-end wireless speakers, then hard wire them and you still have issues. Bottomline: HEOS 7 speakers sound great when the app works. However, the app is not reliable to connect to internet streaming servers as advertised. Lots of cut outs. Hindsight being 20/20, I'd take a different route and buy a wi-fi speaker that doesn't rely on an app to work.
Pros: Sounds great when it works
Cons: - Connectivity to the internet via the HEOS App. - Reliability with Sirius XM servers. - High learning curve with the HEOS App - Wifi issues...may require hardwire CAT5 cables/router to work with two speakers synched. - Needs to be extremely close to the wifi source. Two or more speakers may experience sound synch problems based on distance from wifi source.
I have to be very impressed to take time to write a review! I'm not an impulse buyer and i've come to a point in my life; I want what I want. I spent multiple hours researching similar products with my goal of $1000 or less for a garage system. Bose & Sonos to name a few. However I couldn't listen to the Denon's. I gambled knowing Crutchfield's reputation and guarantees. (had an issue with a t.v. do to shipper; hands down! Crutchfield took care of it!) Received the Heos 7 PAIR. The set up wasn't the easiest; however i've had way worse! WOW I'M IMPRESSED! They're not my Klipsch reference series....and I didn't expect or anticipate them to be. I listen to metal & rock. alot of demand on any speaker. I wish it had a more diverse eq, however there are separate bass and treble w/eq with pre sets. I'M IMPRESSED and the neighbors aren't happy!
Pros: can take any heavy metal music and not distort. impressive bass!
Cons: confusing setup. not enough equalizer channels for me, but still sounds good
The HEOS 7 has a powerful base speaker and projects awesome sound in our large backyard
Pros: Great sound for a small speaker. Denon quality and build
Cons: AC required to amplifier
The HEOS 7 speaker has rather impressive sound from bass to treble for the size of the speaker. I had purchased the Denon AVR-X2400H receiver and a HEOS 5 speaker earlier. The HEOS 7 speaker has richer sound than the HEOS 5 as expected. Issues have occurred with grouping speakers and loss of recognition of the speakers, but this a connectivity issue and not sound quality or volume issue with the speaker. This trouble probably is from the HEOS app rather than the speakers themselves.
Pros: Compact Good sound Multi room play capability
Cons: Loss of connectivity
Easy to use and amazing sound - love it!
I love this thing! I'm using it in my workshop/garage of roughly 800 sq.ft and it fills the space with well-balanced sound. The frequency response of the system is superb from about 40hz through about 15khz and sounds amazing. This little box replaced a full unit setup with two 3-way units (10" woofers) and definitely sounds better while taking up almost no space. It gets loud enough to make the neighbors mad! I can't say enough good things about this box except that Denon is probably my new favorite brand!
Pros: Sound, size, bluetooth connectivity.
My setup is a single Denon HEOS 7 in 20x15' great room with high 15' ceiling. Great response in all ranges. Family music tastes vary widely and this speaker performs well for all genres. As the HEOS 7 has an ethernet connection option, I tried a MOCA adapter (coax to RJ45) and it works great - visible from Spotify and HEOS app on all phones and tablets in the house.
Pros: Good response in all ranges. Many network connection options.
Cons: Airplay option would be nice. Sound and video sync issues when using as a TV speaker.
This speaker has a very rich full sound, with great bass. I also have two Heos 5 speakers and it was easy to group them so they play as one. I had to use an Ethernet cable to set them up and then, after they were connected to my WiFi, I was able to disconnect them and move to wireless, but other than that setup was a breeze. The speakers are very sleek and very nice looking as well as having great, room-filling sound. In addition to wireless, these also have a Bluetooth connection, which allows me to use them for great sound with Netflix.
Pros: Fantastic, room-filling sound, easy setup, good looking, powerful, clean bass.
Cons: Had to use an Ethernet cable to connect to WiFi, then disconnect the cable to get wireless connection.
I was originally looking at the Marshall Wilburn when Hogan at Crutchfield had me take a look at the HEOS 7 by Denon. I went ahead with it and I couldn't be happier with this purchase. You can tell It's a quality built speaker right out of the box. The sound is just amazing at both high or low volumes making it a solid choice as an all purpose Bluetooth speaker. With a USB port build in, along with all the options for playback on the HEOS app, it's versatility matches its high quality construction. I would buy again in a heartbeat.
Pros: Sound. Period. After all that's why we buy such things and the HEOS delivers. Easy to set up right out of the box
Cons: It would have been nice if it had a handle someplace on it. It's a fairly heavy piece. The APP tends to crash some on my IPhone 7
Sounds great! HEOS app was easy to set up from Apple iPone.
Pros: Sounds great!
Cons: Fairly easy to set up once I had all the necessary attachments for my iPhone.
Excellent single speaker sound. Much fuller than HEOS 5. Lack of Apple Music integration is a let down.
Pros: Excellent single speaker...full sound!
Cons: Lack of Apple Music integration.
Exactly what I was looking for. Beyond expectations!
Pros: Excellent bass and sound quality
Cons: Needs a handle for carrying.
This was easy to set up and use. Sounds great and easy to use with my Marantz receiver. I have two of these and the sound is amazing when using both in the same room.
Pros: easy to setup, easy to use, sounds great
Sound is really good and can go loud. Set up was easy.Design is really nice. Works flawless with wifi and bluetooth. The heos app is good but not superb. Wish some equalization, as there is only bass ans trebble.
Quality product with great features
Great sound quality, surprising bass output, and easy to set up. The only reason I give this 3 stars and not 5 is because of the price and app. AC powered speaker of this quality should have higher volume output and the HEOS application should be dialed in to a very effective control module. I was lucky enough to get this on a great sale though so I am content at the price point I purchased at. Customer service as always was incredible.
This thing is awesome. The sound quality at low and high volumes is great, I think I have found my favorite new brand. Very impressed with the sound output for its size.
Good clear music, Decent Bass. Easy to operate and very versatile App. Only drawback might be lack of remote control.
Pros: Sound quality easy connection
Cons: No remote control
Great sound, easy Installation
This is an excellent product which is very well designed in my opinion and performs incredibly well Judging by the clean powerful bass and lack of distortion or hardness at high volumes, it is intended for good sized rooms and open floorplans. As the manual mentions, placement height should equal ear level when seated. I obtained great results placing this beauty atop a 36'' high bookcase with at least 12'' space to the rear. (The two passive radiators are rear mounted.) Sound remains wonderfully detailed and balanced at all volume levels including low. Incredible. And I personally love the style which never looks bulky or too large. App can be a little glitchy at first but after a few days usage is acceptable. Any shortcomings in that area are far outweighed by the sweet sound this unit never fails to pump out. And Crutchfield was excellent from start to finish. Zac was my salesman and was great and easy to reach directly. As a first time Crutchfield customer I'm very impressed and will use them again without hesitation.
Pros: Truly exceptional sound. Balanced, detailed and powerful at all volume levels. High quality feel and finish. Extensive features. Beautiful appearance as well. Worth every penny and then some.
Cons: App takes a little practice but still very usable.
Speaker gives full rich sound with deep bass. In my opinion sounds better than Sonos and as good as Bose biggest wireless speaker. The Heos app works well and you can adjust the bass and treble to your music liking. I prefer more bass and a full rich sound so it works great for me.
Pros: Sound quality Value Does not have to be charged so there is no battery to run out
Cons: Heos app was a little finicky at first, but works fine now.
I bought my first Denon product from Crutchfield 26 years ago, a Denon DT-400 AM/FM HiFi Stereo Tabletop Clock Radio. To call it a "Clock Radio" is a joke. It still owrks flawlessly and with 35 WPC it continues to impress me every time I turn it on. I expected at least the same level of quality, finish and sound quality from the HEOS7, and so far I have not been disappointed. The design is at the same time clean and interesting to view. The materials are top-notch. Connectivity via Bluetooth with my 7th generation iPod Nano is great from over 30 feet away, and the sound and power is superb. I can definitely see myself enjoying this speaker a few decades from now.
Pros: Design, sound clarity, connectivity, Denon reputation.

HEOS is a wireless multi-room sound system comprising a family of network music amplifiers, pre-amplifiers, and speakers for your whole home. The HEOS7 can connect to your home's network via Ethernet (RJ-45) or WiFi (802.11 a/b/g/n/ac). At least a dual-band (2.4/5GHZ) "N" router is recommended for the most reliable wireless network connection. The free HEOS app for Apple iOS and Android is used for wireless (WiFi) setup with your home's network.
Note: A WiFi extender (sold separately) may be necessary if your network's wireless signal is weak to some of the HEOS systems in your application.
Hi-Res & Audiophile-Grade Synchronization: To deliver a true audiophile listening experience for high-resolution music playback (up to 24-bit/192kHz) with multiple HEOS speakers & players at once, each HEOS player and speaker must be synchronized to an extremely high degree. Based on years of meticulous research, HEOS delivers unparalleled synchronization performance within microseconds for exceptional high-resolution music playback.
HEOS App: You'll need to download the HEOS App from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store onto your Apple iOS (7.0+) or Android (2.3+) device. The app is required and provides everything you need to set up and enjoy music on the HEOS system. Using your mobile device and the HEOS app, you can setup, browse, explore, and control HEOS system right in the palm of your hand, from anywhere in your home. Your HEOS account remembers all your settings and preferences such as all your music service logins and HEOS playlists. When you'd like to add multiple smartphone or tablet controllers to your system, you only need to sign in to each new device with your HEOS user name and password. Instantly all your music services and HEOS playlists are available in the new controller too. If you prefer, we support multiple HEOS accounts in a single household. This way, each family member can enjoy their own personalized Pandora or Spotify account settings and still share all the same speakers in the home.

You can play the same song in every room or any combination of rooms you choose, including a different song in every room. The HEOS wireless audio system automatically synchronizes audio playback between multiple speakers so that the audio coming from different rooms is perfectly in sync with great sound.
Note: A Group refers to the HEOS App's ability to play multiple HEOS systems together, so you're simultaneously outputting the same source information from all the HEOS systems. Grouping the systems will also allow proper synchronization to all systems so you should never hear an audio delay between the HEOS systems.
Stereo Pairing: You can configure two HEOS 7(HS2) speakers to work together as a stereo pair; one as the left speaker, and one as the right speaker.
High Resolution & Compressed Music Formats: The HEOS 7 (HS2) wireless audio speaker system supports compatibility with high-resolution audio files for the ultimate listening experience over network (DLNA) or USB (MSC), all in the convenience of your home.
