Product Research

Advanced High Current (AHC) Single-Push-Pull Circuit: Engineered with Denon amplifier technology, the PMA-600NE delivers 45 Watts of power-per-channel (8ohm, 20-20kHz, THD 0.07%). The PMA-600NE incorporates AHC (Advanced High Current) transistors with 2 to 3x the electrical current supply capacity of conventional audio power transistors. The acclaimed Denon AHC single-push-pull circuit allows for the discrete amplifier in the PMA-600NE to produce powerful sound with musical fidelity. This integrated amplifier offers compatibility with a wide range of speaker types and impedances (4 to 16-ohm) for operational stability.

Vibration-Resistant Design: The PMA-600NE's vibration-resistant design with Direct Mechanical Ground Construction reduces the adverse audio effects of heavy components within amplifiers so sound quality meets Denon standards. The power transformer, which is the largest vibration source among amplifier components, is outfitted with a thick steel plate to the mount, suppressing vibration created by the transformer as well as external vibration toward the transformer. By directly supporting the transformer with a steel plate, the vibration surrounding the chassis is reduced resulting in pristine sound.

Signal Level Divided Construction (SLDC): The Signal Level Divided Construction (SLDC) chassis developed by Denon is used in the audio circuit to ensure that delicate musical signals are faithfully amplified and transmitted to the speakers. This design technology makes sure you can listen with exemplary quality, every time.

Main Transformer with Individual Wiring: To eliminate interference and maintain exceptional sound quality, the main power transformer of the PMA-600NE has separate coiled wires for the audio and control circuits. An integrated micro-processor features Stop Mode for even greater sound quality while you listen.

Micro-Processor Stop Mode: The micro-processor of the PMA-600NE features a Stop Mode that automatically ceases all operations of the micro-processor when it's not needed for playback. By stopping the oscillation of the micro-processor clock during these listening moments, the audio signal is protected from external noise and enhances sound quality.

24-Bit/192kHz DAC: The Denon PMA-600NE utilizes a 24-bit/192kHz DAC (PCM5141) for high-resolution audio playback; supporting 16- or 24-bit Linear PCM with a sampling frequency of 32, 44.1, 48, 88.2, 96, 176.4, or 192 kHz.

Analog & Source Direct Modes: Analog Mode allows the PMA-600NE to operate as a purely analog amp, disabling digital inputs as well as Bluetooth while you listen to an analog source. Turn on Analog Mode to close power to the dedicated digital power source and stop operation of the digital input and Bluetooth circuity, avoiding any high frequency influence on the analog section of the PMA-600NE. Enjoy your favorite analog sources with uninhibited clarity and detailed reproduction. When Source Direct is activated, you can listen to either analog or digital audio signals with higher sound quality. Source Direct mode the bypasses the integrated amp's tone adjustment circuitry (Bass/Treble/Balance), resulting in playback of higher sound quality for analog and digital audio sources.

Built-in Bluetooth: The Denon PMA-600NE features built-in Bluetooth (version 4.2) with a 98.4' wireless range for music streaming (A2DP 1.2) and control (AVRCP 1.6). You'll be able to wirelessly connect to smartphones (including iPhone & Android), tablets (including iPad & Android), laptops (including Microsoft Surface & Macbook), computers (including Windows PC & Mac), and other Bluetooth-enabled devices. Up to eight Bluetooth devices can be remembered by the PMA-600NE, so family members as well as friends can enjoy their favorite tracks (only one device can be used at a time).

  • Wireless Music Streaming: You'll be able to wirelessly stream stored music and music apps from your Bluetooth-enabled source device to the Denon receiver. In addition to support for the standard SBC Bluetooth audio codec, the PMA-600NE offers support of AAC. By supporting AAC, the Denon receiver offers better audio performance of the music streamed from your Apple iPod/iPhone/Pad.
  • Wireless Music Control: You will also be able to control basic playback functions (Play/Pause, FF/RW, Skip) using the receiver's remote control. Advanced music operation will still need to be handled from your Bluetooth-enable device. There is no song/artist information display on the receiver or connected TV. Continue to use your Bluetooth device's screen to view song/artist info.
  • Bluetooth hands-free communication for making and answering phone calls is not supported.
  • Due to the differences in Bluetooth technology, some Bluetooth enabled devices may be incompatible, function improperly, or may not support all features when used with the Denon receiver.

Optical & Coaxial Digital Inputs: The PMA-600NE features two Optical (Toslink) digital inputs and one Coaxial (RCA) digital input that support PCM signals up to 192kHz/24-bit. Linear PCM signals (16- or 24-bit) with a sampling frequency of 32, 44.1, 48, 88.2, 96, 176.4, or 192 kHz can be input into this unit. These digital inputs help to improve sound and visual quality of your TV audio, Blu-Ray, media players and more. You can also use these digital inputs for high-resolution sound from an audio source on your computer.

Note: The optical & coaxial digital inputs do not support Dolby Digital, DTS, DSD, or AAC.

Line-Level RCA Inputs: The Denon integrated amplifier is outfitted with four line-level, stereo RCA inputs labeled "CD", "Network", "Aux", and "Recorder". Use these analog line-level inputs to connect legacy devices, such as a CD player or tape deck.

MM Phono Equalizer: The PMA-600NE includes a phono equalizer that supports playback from turntables with a MM cartridge. This phono equalizer has high gain, and unlike loops in other circuit board patterns which cause adverse effects on sound quality, the simple, straightforward design of the PMA-600NE phono equalizer significantly improves sound.

Binding Post Speaker Terminals: The Denon integrated amplifier is equipped with binding post speaker output terminals that support bare wire (up to 10AWG), pin connectors, and banana plugs (single or dual). You can connect a single pair of loudspeakers with impedances from 4 to 16-ohm.

Headphone Output: The Denon PMA-600NE is equipped with a front-panel 1/4" headphone jack for connecting a set of headphone so you can enjoy your music privately. When headphones are plugged into the integrated amp's headphone jack, audio will no longer be output from the amplifier's connected speakers or subwoofer output.

Subwoofer Output: The PMA-600NE integrated amplifier is outfitted with a mono-subwoofer output for connection of a powered subwoofer (sold separately). The subwoofer output has a fixed 100Hz low pass crossover filter.

Line-Level Recorder Output: Audio signals input into this unit can be output to an external recording device, using the integrated amplifiers stereo line-level RCA outputs. When recording audio from a playback device connected to this unit, audio can be recorded with the playback device still connected to the integrated amp.

Remote Control: The included IR remote control can be used to operate not only PMA-600NE integrated amplifier, but Denon CD players and network audio players as well. The remote provides Power, Input, and Volume control for the integrated amplifier; as well as playback control for select Denon CD players and network audio players. In addition, there is a 3.5mm IR Control input and output for connecting Denon CD players and network audio players with an IR controller.

Tone Controls: The Denon PMA-600NE offers Bass, Treble, & Balance control. Bass (100Hz) and Treble (10kHz) can be adjusted from -8dB to +8dB. The Balance knob allows you to adjust the volume output from the left and right speakers. The Bass, Treble, and Balance control knobs are found on the unit's front-panel only (not on remote).

Auto Standby: When there is no input signal and no operation for approximately 30 minutes, this unit automatically enters Standby mode to conserve power and energy.

Protection Circuitry: This is a function to prevent damage to devices within the power supply when an abnormality such as an overload, excess voltage, or over temperature occurs for any reason.

Customer Q&A

Crutchfield asked: Why did you buy this?
I chose this amp due to great reviews. I wanted a simple stereo amp for a budget system. It will run my new piano black Klipsch rp600m speakers. [ Melody  Dec 02, 2019 ]

7 questions already asked

Is the 600NE a "common ground" amp? I have a pair of legacy Polk SDA CRS speakers that need the common ground for the SDA

Is there any latency (delay) when using the subwoofer output with any of the digital inputs. (Toslink or Coaxial Digital) or is everything in time and synced?
[ 'Sappy'  Mar 23, 2020 ]
5 answers
There shouldn't be any discernible delay as long as you use a good quality subwoofer cable and the distance isn't extraordinarily long.
[ Cosmo  Apr 21, 2020 ]  Staff
I am not using a sub, however when using the coaxial input I experienced no delay.
[ Paul  Apr 19, 2020 ]
Hi, I can only say I have not noticed any delay. For instance, I remember my the Polk speakers I had set up with my Mac had a ridiculous delay, before the sound eventually kicked in... So, without close analysis. the Subwoofer seems fine, ie. no delay. But I am not a technician type, and have not studied it too closely. As far as Bluetooth setups... The R-10SW has been the most simple and easy to use and good price I really like the sound, I have it hooked up with a pair of Klipsch RP-160M With the Denon PMA-600NE, I think I have a very versatile re. Analog/Digital and straight up good sounding old school system that makes sense and works too. (My idea of good sounding music would be the recent release of live concerts fro m the mid seventies featuring Rory Gallagher with his hard driving and loud sounding "power trio" not sure how a boy born in Ballyshannon and raised in Cork was even able to find a Fender Stratocaster Peace, AM
[ ALEC  Apr 18, 2020 ]
I'm using the Klipsch wireless subwoofer, and i was skeptical myself of a delay. But so far, no lagging , and music and response seem to be on time.
[ JACOB  Apr 17, 2020 ]
I'm running a blue toothed sub that's situated about 10 ft away and it sound fine in regards to timing. So far, I'm a fan of this unit and I'm impressed with it. I've only run a turntable thru it using analogue. I have run blue toothed radio into it and it sounds fine. Haven run any digital cables in or out of it but will if you wanted a check.
[ Mark  Apr 17, 2020 ]
Can i use pair of ELAC Debut 6.2 Speakers with this AMP, Are they Match?
[ Shaun  Mar 05, 2020 ]

This amp will drive them nicely.
[ JACOB  Apr 17, 2020 ]
You should be fine. The power requirements of the ELAC's coupled with your room size and listening volume will determine the Match factor.
[ MICHAEL  Apr 02, 2020 ]
It drives my Cerwin Vega Studio Monitors (15" Woofers) with no problem. Your smaller Elac speakers should be fine.
[ GARY  Apr 02, 2020 ]
Will this amp with 45 wpc have any trouble driving elac debut 6.2 bookshelf speakers ?
[ Joe  Feb 20, 2020 ]
5 answers
Hi Joe, thank you for your question. While the Denon PMA-600NE receiver is compatible with 6ohm speakers, and will drive the ELAC Debut 2.0 B6.2 speakers, depending on your plans of use for these speakers, finding a receiver that offers a little more continuous power could be beneficial to you. Please chat with us online or by phone at 1-800-324-9695. We will be happy to go over your application, and ensure that we provide you with the best recommendation for your system.
[ Jess  Mar 15, 2020 ]  Staff
Nope. That's what I use. I live in an apartment so I am not inclined to crank it up but it can surely handle it.
[ Michael  Mar 12, 2020 ]
From what I rerad and hear from u tube reviews,it will. I am using rp600 Klipshs. I hope this helps. Paul
[ Paul  Mar 12, 2020 ]
It drives my Pioneer BS22LR book shelf speakers fantastically. Basically the Elac 6.2 have then same sensitivity 87db and 6ohm spec as my Pioneer set. I would say they would be a very nice combo.
[ Jason  Mar 11, 2020 ]
I can't speak for that exact speaker but if you can make a comparison it does LS50W's excellent
[ Marcus  Mar 11, 2020 ]
Can I use banana plugs to connect speaker wire to U.S. version of Denon PMA 600NE ? No mention of this method in owner's manual.
[ Greg  Dec 23, 2019 ]

I USED BANANA PLUGS. But they come in different shapes and sizes too. I have found some banana plugs will fit on one amp and not on another and vice versa. Some fit better than others...
[ ALEC  Apr 18, 2020 ]
Yes, the speaker connections on the back of this unit are 5-way binding posts. They will accept banana plugs.
[ Calvin  Jan 08, 2020 ]  Staff
Is this a Class AB amp? Class D?
[ D  Dec 02, 2019 ]
3 answers
Um? What year did it graduate?
[ ALEC  Apr 18, 2020 ]
Denon website says it's an AB.
[ Noam  Mar 11, 2020 ]
It is neither but a proprietary design Denon may use a classic design but they aren't calling it as such.
