Onboard Android Auto and Apple CarPlay

With your iPhone® or Android™ smartphone connected to the KW-M560BT via USB, you'll gain touchscreen or voice control access to a variety of apps supported by Android Auto and CarPlay.

  • Android Auto: When you connect a compatible Android device, Android Auto integrates the Android platform into your driving experience in a non-distracting way. You'll have voice control access to Google Maps, weather, music, your phone, text messages, plus easy access to many of your favourite apps. Get more info at https://www.android.com/auto.
  • Apple CarPlay: CarPlay integrates your iPhone® into the driving experience, putting iPhone content at the driver's voice command with minimal distraction. That means easy access to your music library, your phone, messages, navigation, and many third-party streaming music apps, too. Learn more at https://www.apple.com/ios/carplay.

Additionally, this JVC lets you mirror your Android device with a USB connection, providing touchscreen control over your phone from the receiver.

Bluetooth for calling and streaming

Bluetooth makes it easy to stream music wirelessly and make hands-free calls. This JVC lets you quickly switch between two paired phones — handy for vehicles with more than one driver. When it comes to streaming audio, you can also control this car stereo directly from your phone using JVC's free Remote app.

SiriusXM

If AM/FM radio isn't enough, you can add an optional SiriusXM tuner and seriously expand the scope of your entertainment choices. It's a beautiful thing to drive for hours with a station that you love.

Add a backup cam

If you're installing a stereo, it's also a great time to add a backup cam, and this JVC gives you a dedicated camera input. And if the kids in the back need a bit of distraction, you can feed them some video by connecting additional monitors to this receiver's video output.

Your dream sound

Take advantage of JVC's sound-sculpting controls, including a 13-band graphic equalizer and time alignment to get you the best seat in the house.

Bluetooth note: Use of this receiver's Bluetooth features will depend upon your phone's Bluetooth capabilities. Learn more in our article explaining Bluetooth profiles.

You'll need a wired connection to your parking brake to access settings and other features on this receiver. Your parking brake must be connected and set in order to view video on its screen.

    iPhone & Android Integration

Apple CarPlay: Apple CarPlay is the smarter, safer in-vehicle interface to operate your iPhone (iOS 7.1+) with Lightning-connector. Your iPhone must be connected to the JVC receiver's USB port via the Lightning-cable that came with your Apple device or an Apple Certified Lightning-to-USB cable (sold separately). You can control CarPlay from the JVC receiver's touchscreen controls or use Siri to control to control CarPlay with just your voice. You'll be able to use CarPlay to get directions, make phone calls, listen to voice mails, send/receive text messages, select music, and even control Apple HomeKit compatible devices in a way that keeps you focused on the road ahead.

    • Navigation Maps: The power and simplicity of Apple Maps comes to your dashboard; complete with turn-by-turn direction, traffic conditions, and estimated travel time. You can enter a new destination or choose a favorite or recent destination using the head unit's touchscreen or by simply asking Siri. CarPlay can also predict where you most likely want to go using addresses from your email, text messages, contacts, and calendars. If you have iOS 12.0 or newer on your iPhone with the latest version of Google Maps or Waze, you can choose to navigate via the Google Maps or Waze application instead of Apple Maps. Google Maps and Waze do not support Siri voice control, but will have their own proprietary voice control function which has to be accessed through a touchscreen icon on the receiver.
    • Phone & Messages: You'll be able to make calls, return missed calls, and listen to voicemails through the JVC receiver. Siri can also help you do all these things. In addition, Siri can send, read, and reply to your text messages for you; so you never have to look at your iPhone while driving.
    • Music Library: Access your favorite artists, songs, and playlists from Apple Music on your iPhone using the JVC receiver's touchscreen. Or, just tell Siri what you'd like to listen to. The head unit's touchscreen will display song/artist information, as well as album art in the background.
    • Apps: CarPlay also supports additional audio apps that you've downloaded to your iPhone for enjoying music, radio, sports, news, podcasts, & audiobooks (subscriptions and fees may apply). Control these apps from the head unit's touchscreen just like you would from your iPhone. Current supported apps include:
    • Apple HomeKit Compatible: CarPlay now supports control of Apple HomeKit enabled devices (sold separately) through Siri. Using CarPlay in your vehicle, you can ask Siri to close or open your garage door, turn on or off home lighting, increase or decrease the temperature of your thermostat, as well as control select functions of other Apple HomeKit enabled devices and appliances. Click here for a list of compatible Apple HomeKit products.

    Notes:

    • Bluetooth hands-free phone and wireless music streaming cannot be used while Apple CarPlay is being used with a connected iPhone.
    • If you need an additional USB extension cable, use Kenwood's CA-U1EX USB extension cable (113CAU1EX, sold separately). Any other USB extension cable can cause CarPlay to malfunction.

    • Phone & SMS: With Android Auto you get access to your contacts and messages through the JVC receiver while keeping your eyes on the road. Use the unit's external mic and Google Speech Technology to make a phone call, or have your text-messages read aloud to you while you concentrate on the road ahead; you can even reply to texts via voice command.

More power means louder and cleaner music at higher volumes because you're not pushing the limits of the amplification circuit. The power output specs for the KW-M560BT are as follows:

    • Full Bandwidth Power: 21 watts RMS x 4 channels (at 4 ohms, 20-20kHz, 1% THD)
    • Maximum Output Power: 45 watts x 4 channels (180 watts total)

5ch/2V Pre-Outs + Sub Control: The KW-M560BT features front, rear and mono-subwoofer 2V pre-outs. The front and rear speaker pre-outs are balance and fade adjustable, while mono-subwoofer pre-out is non-fading. The subwoofer preamp output is non-fading and features independent level control (-40 to +6).

    • Loudness, Bass Boost & Bass Extension: The Loudness feature boosts low and high frequencies to produce a well-balanced sound at a low volume level. The unit's Bass Boost enhances low bass frequencies at any volume level. There is also a Bass Extension feature which further enhances the unit's bass output on frequencies lower than 62.5Hz.
    • Volume Offset: The input level of each source is adjustable relative each other's volume, so there isn't a significant volume difference when changing sources. Each source is individually adjustable from -5 to +5.

Source Beep: The in-dash receiver provides an audible beep to confirm source selection. This function can be turned On or Off.

    Touchscreen + Remote Control

6.75" Capacitive Touchscreen: The JVC KW-M560BT features a fixed 6.75" widescreen (16:9) capacitive touchscreen LCD with LED backlighting. The LCD touchscreen has a resolution of 800 (H) x 480 (V) x RGB with 1,152,000 total pixels. The capacitive touchscreen LCD provides a high contrast ratio, crystal clear display, and vivid text; as well as highly responsive touchscreen operation.

    • Gesture Control: In addition to basic touch control, the receiver's 6.8" touchscreen offers Gesture Control. Gesture Control lets you operate certain functions of the KW-M560BT by making specific gesture commands on the unit's touchscreen. You can adjust the volume of the multimedia receiver by making a circular motion with your finger on the unit's touchscreen. You'll also be able to navigate your music by simply swiping the touchscreen left/right or up/down.
    • Touch-Sensitive Buttons: In addition to the capacitive touchscreen monitor, the JVC KW-M560BT offers five touch-sensitive buttons along the left edge of the screen. The button illumination is a fixed blue color.

    • Screen Adjust: You can adjust the Contrast, Brightness, Color, and Tint of the touchscreen monitor to suit your preference.
    • Dimmer: The illumination dimmer can also be set to Off (normal brightness at all times), On (display is always dimmed), or Sync (dims or brightens when the headlight switch is turned on or off).
    • Clock Display: The digital media receiver offers a 12-hour clock which is visible from any source or menu screen. With your vehicle's key in the accessory or run position, the head unit will continue to display the LCD background image, clock, and button illumination during "AV Off" mode. Pressing the "Power Off" touchscreen icon turns the unit off completely.

Parking Brake Interlock: To prevent the display of video while the vehicle is in motion, the light green wire (attached to rear chassis) must be connected to the vehicle's parking brake detection circuit. You cannot view video unless your vehicle's parking brake is engaged. If you attempt to view video without the parking brake engaged, the unit's LCD touchscreen will simply display a blue screen and "Parking Off". While your vehicle is in motion (parking brake off), you can still view all of the head unit's menu screens/settings, source information, metadata, and album artwork; as well as CarPlay and Android Auto.

Note:The parking brake wire must also be connected and the parking brake engaged for certain setup functions, menu options, and Android mirroring.

Steering Wheel Controls: The head unit features a factory steering wheel remote control input wire (blue/yellow) within the included wiring harness that lets you keep your vehicle's factory radio steering wheel remote controls when used with an optional steering wheel audio control adapter (sold separately).

Optional Remote Control: The JVC digital media receiver is compatible with JVC's wireless IR remote control (RM-RK258, sold separately).

    Q
I have a 2003 Toyota Avalon with the factory JBL audio system, I have hooked everything up with the given harness, but I've found that that the subwoofer and tweeters aren't creating sound. How do I fix that?
    aaron  Feb 11, 2024
    1 answer
    A
Greetings Aaron. Thank you for your question. If you purchased the product from Crutchfield, feel free to contact our Tech Support team. They can walk you through the settings on the product and see if there may be a fix. Our toll-free Tech Support number is printed on your invoice, and is also available under the "My Orders" tab in the "My Account" section of our website. If you did not purchase the unit from Crutchfield, then you may want to contact the manufacturer of the wiring adapter. Sounds like the stereo is working fine, I would have to say its the wiring, or the wiring adapter. If you purchased the JBL bypass harness, your going to lose the subwoofer for sure.

None of the packages that come with this radio support a USB port. Does that mean power will no longer run to that USB port and I can't charge a phone? Also, how do I connect my phone for Apple Car Play if the USB is not supported? I have a 2017 VW Tiguan without the fender audio system
    ben w  Jan 24, 2024
    1 answer
    A
Greetings Ben. Thank you for your question. Unfortunately, we do not have an adapter for that factory USB port to work on an aftermarket stereo. If its getting its power from the radio now, it will be completely dead. thats one thing we do not check when we have to research every new vehicle. I would plan on it being dead. Wired Apple Carplay stereos have a USB cable ran from the back of the stereo, a select few might have that USB on the front. That will be your new USB input. There are accessories to extend that and have a nice-looking mount for it as well.

CarPlay turns off after a couple minutes. After unplugging it and plugging it back in it works then does the same thing. How can I fix this?
    cgriggs25  Jan 03, 2024
    1 answer
    A
I would first try using a different high-quality or Apple specific charging cable, Cole. If the problem persists, you can try updating the firmware with a USB thumb drive. Firmware updates must be loaded from a Windows computer to have the radio recognize the USB drive. I hope this helps!

    Q
I got this unit as a gift from my parents. They bought the Installation package that comes with the radio replacement module. The factory backup camera isnâ??t working still and the receiver shows no signal. I have a 2019 Kia soul base model. How can I get this to work?
    cody  Dec 22, 2023
    1 answer
    A
Our most popular paired package for your 2019 Kia Soul without Harmon Kardon or auto climate controls uses the Crux SWRHK-65Q in the link below, Cody. This interface does retain the use of the factory backup camera. Without knowing the exact details of the installation interface you are using, I cannot check supported features. If you have the Crux SWRHK-65Q in place I would doublecheck your backup camera connections. If you have your order number handy, call our Technical Support line and we would be happy to help! https://www.crutchfield.com/p_249HK65Q/Crux-SWRHK-65Q-Wiring-Interface.html

My 2005 Toyota 4Runner SR5 had the original factory stereo removed by th previous owner, so I cannot determine whether the original stereo had RDS or not. What should I do? I am not sure if guessing it would give me a possibly non-compatibel stereo?
    4brunner  Nov 27, 2023
    1 answer
    A
This is important to know as it affects the dash kit used, Bruno. Without having the RDS radio you'll need to use the factory radio's brackets in order to install your new receiver. If you don't have the brackets, you can obtain them from your dealership. If you guess you may not have all the parts you need for a complete install. It's possible you might be able to source the original trim level by VIN, I hope this helps!

What am i supposed to do with the swc wire and remote wire? Are they supposed to connect or do I need to wire them somewhere else? I also did get the pre wiring for my JVC unit. These are the only open 2 wires that are not connected to anything.
    austin  Nov 17, 2023
    1 answer
    A
Greetings Austin. Thank you for your business. SWC would be for steering wheel radio controls if you do not have those, it does not have to be connected. Remote wire is for turning on an amplifier, or power antenna. If your vehicle does not have a powered antenna, or a factory amplifier, those do not need to be connected either. looks like you entered the VW as having the Dynaudio system. If so, it has a factory amp. My guess steering wheel radio controls as well. Might want to give our technical support a call. their number will be on your shipping confirmation email from us.

Fm tuner broadcast in the United States cannot broadcast below 88.1, George. For any radio we carry I would believe that the tuner range will fall between the 88-108 range, though the exact max tuner range is not listed in the specifications for the JVC KW-M560BT. I hope this helps!

Will this work with the backup camera and microphone on a 2015 Nissan Sentra SL?
    jerry  Aug 08, 2023
    1 answer
    A
We need to know the specific trim details of your 2015 Sentra to confirm any feature retention, Jerry. Mainly if the Sentra has the Bose or the regular speaker system. With Bose OR non-Bose Sentra's in 2015 we can keep your original backup camera with the package in the link below, but Bluetooth is not retained with either trim level so make sure to remember to run the included new Bluetooth microphone with your new JVC KW-M560BT. The package in the link below uses an iDatalink Maestro interface and will work with both Bose and non-Bose models, check it out! https://www.crutchfield.com/I-rXYEc222/cart/EmailCart.aspx?emKey=3192324

Do you need the USB plug in for Apple car play? Or can I use Bluetooth to access Apple car play?

You can use Bluetooth for hands-free calling and music streaming CJ, but you will have to connect with USB for Carplay or Android Auto features on the JVC KW-M560BT. If you want wireless Carplay capabilities I would scope out the JVC KW-M785BW in the link below, this radio can offer wired and wireless Carplay and Android Auto. I'm considering this unit for my 2004 Mercedes G500. Do you have dimension data to confirm fitment? Thank you, Sassan.
    sassan  Feb 27, 2023
    1 answer
    A
Greetings Sassan, and thank you for your question. An aftermarket stereo is not recommended to install into the 2004 G class Mercedes. Aftermarket stereos need install packages like dash mounting kits, and wiring adapters, which we have neither for the G500. This is not going to be a plug and play job because of that. The dimensions of the chassis however are 7.025 inches wide by 3.935 inches tall by 3.705 deep.

    1 answer
    A
We have a few different wiring harnesses available for a 2011 Silverado and whether or not you have the factory Bose and/or navigation may make a difference so if you can give us a call at 800.324.9695 one of experts can take a look at what you have and verify if your stock USB will be able to interface with Carplay/Android Auto in that JVC radio or any other similar unit.

    Q
So I was installing my JVC KW-M560BT radio, on a 2014 Chevy Camaro. So I bought the PAC RPK5-GM4102 Dash and Wiring Kit. So my problem is the red ignition wire from the radio harness, I can't seem to find where to connect that wire too. The radio won't turn on. Can someone help?
    ivan  Jan 31, 2023

    A
Greetings Ivan, sorry you are having difficulty installing your JVC stereo. If you purchased the JVC or the PAC wire harness from Crutchfield, you would have a direct number to call our technical support services. That number would be on your shipping confirmation email. If you purchase your equipment elsewhere, you can get support from the fine people at PAC by calling 727-592-5991.

Greetings Corianton, and thank you for your question. The video output is not blocked as part of the parking brake wire connection, just the screen of the stereo would be.

Can you put the toyota app on it?
    bryce  Dec 30, 2022
    1 answer
    A
That is a great question, Bryce. Carplay and Android Auto supported apps only with the JVC KW-M560BT. It's a good idea to check in the app store of your specific type of phone to see all supported apps for Carplay OR Android Auto. If you have an Android phone you can use the Mirroring OA for JVC app also. I hope this helps!

    Q
Are these screens removable to deter theft?
    robert  Dec 22, 2022
    1 answer
    A
These are not removable, Rob. The good news is that most double-din size touchscreen radios like the fantastic JVC KW-M560BT use a side mounting bracket to bolt into the vehicle specific dash kit, making for a solid mount compared to older single din units. If you have specific concerns about theft and want some extra piece of mind for your stereo gear, you could always consider a vehicle alarm like the Viper 3606V in the link below. These usually require professional installation but can be used in a wide variety of vehicles. https://www.crutchfield.com/p_6073606V/Viper-Model-3606V.html

    mike  Dec 20, 2022

Greetings Mike, and thank you for your question. The JVC KW-M560BT does not have built in navigation. It would display the navigation app (Apple, Google, Waze) from a connected smart phone.

    Q
Two questions before I buy, one, does this stereo allow back up camera still? And two, are there rca ports for me to connect an aftermarket amplifier? Also does the install kit for this stereo allow me to do both these things?
    colton  Dec 06, 2022
    1 answer
    A
This radio offers connection for an aftermarket backup camera or factory backup camera with the proper adapter (if available for your vehicle). It offers 5-channel preamp outputs (2-volt front, rear, subwoofer) for the connection of aftermarket amplifiers. The installation kit should have no effect on usage of the RCA preamp outputs. For help with determining whether or not we can retain your factory backup camera (if present), please reach out to our advisors via online chat or phone at 1-800-324-9695.

Greetings Brianna, and thank you for your question. Aftermarket stereos need installation kits and wire adapters to install them into a vehicle. If this will, be for some type of custom application, the chassis size is 7.025W x 3.935H x 3.705D.

This will not connect with an ipod through USB connection sadly, Phil. You can still use your ipod with the sweet JVC KW-M560BT, you will just need to connect via the AUX in on the rear panel.

Greetings KodyaJones, and thank you for your question. The stereo does not care what transmission you have in your vehicle. What it does care about is, is there a wire adapter for my car, and I need to be connected to the cars parking brake wire. Thats pretty much it.

Does the full installation kit retain the temp display in the rearview mirror?
    eric  Nov 28, 2020
    2 answers
    A
The full installation kit is to allow plug and play into the factory wiring harness for your car stereo only. Therefore, I don't believe the temp display in your rear view mirror will be affected. My vintage 2000 4Runner Limited has a temp display on the electronic climate control panel, and it was not affected.
    wilson  Nov 28, 2020

Not sure about the mirror display. We installed it in a 2019 Honda Fit, purchased all the parts to retain full factory compatibility which worked great.

Since my OEM screen is smaller than this one, does that mean I will also have to be the separate installation kit?
    nathan  Nov 26, 2020

Always get the fit kit that is recommended so it looks natural in the car. I've seen some that you have to run from a different spot and keep the factory one in. If that is the case get a smaller unit, you will loose the screen but better then having 2 radios. Get a flip or a small one if needed they still are good.

Hi Michael, thank you for your question. The JVC KW-M560BT receiver does not support playback of Netflix video. If you are using an Android Device, you may connect the Android Device via USB to the receiver, to access the Android Mirroring features of the receiver, this will allow you to display video from your phone, to the screen of the JVC. This feature is only usable for Android Devices, and will only be available when the park brake is depressed.
