Designed for drivers

JVC made their KW-M730BT multimedia receiver for those who demand great sound, outstanding connectivity, and ease of operation. With Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto, this receiver lets you control many of your smartphone functions directly from its big, bright 6.8" resistive touchscreen. You can also enjoy a wide range of media options, like Pandora® and SiriusXM, and use the extensive sound shaping controls to get the sound you want.

Apple CarPlay®

CarPlay seamlessly integrates your iPhone into the driving experience, thanks to a slick interface that puts iPhone content right at your fingertips. You'll be able to access your music library, audiobooks, phone, messages, navigation, and many third-party streaming music apps, too. Learn more at www.apple.com/ios/carplay.

JVC KW-<730BT

Works with Apple and Android smartphones

Android Auto

If you're an Android user, this receiver is ready for your phone, too. You'll love how Android Auto integrates the popular platform into the driving experience without distracting you from the job at hand — driving . You'll have easy voice access to Google Maps, weather, music, and apps, not to mention your text messages. And you can make calls, too, of course. Get more info at www.android.com/auto.

Built-in Bluetooth®

The KW-M730BT's built-in Bluetooth lets you enjoy wireless streaming for music, podcasts, and audiobooks, plus hands-free phone calls. You can install the included wired microphone close to you, so callers can hear you loud and clear. You'll also get voice control when pairing an iPhone with Siri. And this receiver can quickly switch between two paired phones, which is really handy when your vehicle is used by more than one driver.

Music, music, music

If you enjoy Internet radio on your iPhone® or Android™, you'll have a blast playing music from Pandora and Spotify through this receiver. If you're looking for radio stations that won't disappear when you head into the hills, add a SiriusXM tuner and enjoy satellite radio's rich selection of programs wherever you go. A highly sensitive AM/FM tuner will catch all your local stations.

Even more media options

Sometimes you want to hear your own favourite road mixes, and the KW-M730BT has you covered there, too. You'll find a rear aux input for a portable music player, and two rear USB ports that can handle your digital music files, as well as tunes from your iPhone or Android. This JVC will even play 192kHz/24-bit high-resolution audio files that you've loaded on a thumb drive. The display will show video when you're parked, and you can show video on the go to your backseat passengers if you add optional screens in back.

Customize your sound

Once you've chosen your tunes, you can perfect your sound with a vast array of sound controls, including a 13-band graphic equalizer and digital time alignment. JVC's K2 technology helps restore depth and detail to digital music from all sorts of sources. And, because most car speakers are located low in the doors, the KW-M730BT also offers Sound Lift, which adjusts your music's frequencies to virtually "raise" your speakers for better, more natural imaging.

Three pairs of hot 4-volt RCA preamp outputs provide an ultra-clean signal when it's time to add amplifiers to your system. JVC also includes variable colour illumination and a customizable layout for the display, letting you pick the look that works in your dash.

Keep factory features with iDatalink Maestro

The KW-M730BT offers compatibility you won't find in many other aftermarket radios, thanks to the iDatalink Maestro module (sold separately). The module lets you keep factory features in your Chrysler, Ford, GM, Toyota, Fiat, or VW vehicle that you'd otherwise lose when you install a new radio. You'll also be able to check out expanded functionality on the JVC's screen, including gauges, climate controls, a distance sensor, and tire pressure and temperature monitors. It'll even integrate your stealth K40 radar detector into the stereo's display, so you can see and hear about incoming threats (coming soon).

Want to keep your steering wheel controls?

In most cars, you'll need an adapter to retain those controls with this car stereo. Connect a few wires, then program the adapter for your particular car and radio, and you'll retain the convenience of your steering wheel controls. You'll see the adapters that work with your vehicle when you add this receiver to your cart.

Bluetooth note: Use of this receiver's Bluetooth features will depend upon your phone's Bluetooth capabilities.Learn more in our article explaining Bluetooth profiles.

Smartphone note: If you're going to use your smartphone with this receiver, be sure to check "Details" for compatibility information.

    Touchscreen + Remote Control

6.8" Clear Resistive Touchscreen: The JVC KW-M730BT features a 6.8" widescreen (16:9) clear resistive touchscreen LCD with LED backlighting. The clear resistive touchscreen LCD provides a high contrast ratio, crystal clear display, and vivid text. The LCD touchscreen has a resolution of 800 (H) x 480 (V) x RGB with 1,152,000 total pixels. The LCD serves as a video monitor, system information display, and touchscreen control panel.

    • Gesture Control: In addition to basic touch control, the receiver's 6.8" touchscreen offers Gesture Control. Gesture Control lets you operate certain functions of the KW-M730BT by making specific gesture commands on the unit's touchscreen. You can adjust the volume of the multimedia receiver by making a circular motion with your finger on the unit's touchscreen. You'll also be able to navigate your music by simply swiping the touchscreen left/right or up/down.
    • El Kameleon Design: The KW-M730BT features JVC's El Kameleon "stealth" design which totally blacks out the 6.8" touchscreen monitor when the head unit is powered off or your vehicle is turned off; there is no backlit illumination at all when the receiver or vehicle is off. There is still a JVC and SiriusXM logo, plus the KW-M730BT's model number, as well as volume up/down and function buttons on the front-panel.
Note: To prevent the display of video while the vehicle is in motion, the light green wire (attached to rear chassis) must be connected to the vehicle's parking brake detection circuit. You cannot view video unless your vehicle's parking brake is engaged. If you attempt to view video without the parking brake engaged, the unit's LCD touchscreen will simply display a blue screen and "Parking Off". While your vehicle is in motion (parking brake off), you can still view all of the head unit's menu screens/settings, source information, metadata, and album artwork; as well as CarPlay & Android Auto.

Display Settings: You can make the following adjustments to the head unit's touchscreen display to better fit your application and needs.

    • Custom Home Screen & Backgrounds: You can customize the head unit's Home Screen by rearranging the icons and moving the icons of the four most sources you use most to this screen. You can also choose between six preset background images or download your own still image (800 x 480) for use as the unit's background from a connected USB thumbdrive.
    • Variable Color Illumination: The touchscreen panel's color illumination can be changed to one of eight preset colors - blue, red, green, yellow, orange, purple, pink, or aqua. You can also choose to have the unit constantly scroll through all eight preset color. In addition, you can create a custom color using a combination (0-31) of red, green, and blue.
    • Clock Display: The digital media receiver offers a 12-hour clock which is visible from any source or menu screen. With your vehicle's key in the accessory or start position, the head unit will continue to display the LCD background image, clock, and button illumination during "AV Off" mode. Pressing the Power button touchscreen icon turns the unit off completely.
    • Dimmer: When the illumination lead (orange/white) is connected and the dimmer set to Auto, the display will dim automatically when you turn on your vehicle's lights. The dimmer can also be set to Off (normal brightness at all times), On (display is always dimmed), or Sync (dims or brightens when the headlight switch is turned on or off).

Remote Control: The JVC KW-M730BT offers compatibility with factory steering wheel controls (adapter sold separately) and is compatible with JVC's IR wireless remote control (RM-RK258, sold separately) for added convenience.

    • Steering Wheel Remote Compatibility: The head unit features an OEM steering wheel remote control input wire (blue/yellow) within the included wiring harness that lets you keep your vehicle's factory radio steering wheel remote controls when used with an optional steering wheel audio control adapter (sold separately).
    • Optional Remote Control: The JVC digital media receiver is compatible with JVC's wireless IR remote control (RM-RK258, sold separately).

Security Code: You can program the unit with a 4 digit security code. Once the unit has been programmed with a security code, the code must be entered to use the unit after it has been disconnected from power.

    iPhone Integration w/ CarPlay

Apple CarPlay Compatible: Apple CarPlay is the smarter, safer in-vehicle interface to operate your iPhone (iOS 7.1+) with Lightning-connector. Your iPhone must be connected to the JVC receiver's "black" USB port (not "grey") via the included USB extension cable and the Lightning-cable that came with your Apple device or JVC's Lightning connector-to-USB cable (105KSU62, sold separately). CarPlay features Siri voice control and is specially designed for driving scenarios. It also works with the JVC receiver's touchscreen controls. Use CarPlay to get directions, make phone calls, listen to voice mail, send/ receive messages and select music in a way that keeps you focused on the road ahead.

    • Maps: The power and simplicity of Apple Maps comes to your dashboard; complete with turn-by-turn direction, traffic conditions, and estimated travel time. You can enter a new destination or choose a favorite or recent destination using the head unit's touchscreen or by simply asking Siri. CarPlay can also predict where you most likely want to go using addresses from your email, text messages, contacts, and calendars.
    • Phone & Messages: You'll be able to make calls, return missed calls, and listen to voicemails through the JVC receiver. Siri can also help you do all these things. In addition, Siri can send, read, and reply to your text messages for you; so you never have to look at your iPhone while driving.
    • Music Library: Access your artists, song, playlists, and iTunes Radio on your iPhone using the JVC receiver's touchscreen. Or, just tell Siri what you'd like to listen to. The head unit's touchscreen will display song/artist information, as well as album art in the background.
    • Apps: CarPlay also supports additional audio apps that you've downloaded to your iPhone for enjoying music, radio, sports, news, podcasts, & audiobooks. Control them from the head unit's touchscreen just like you would from your iPhone. Current supported apps include (fees may apply):

    Notes:

    • Bluetooth hands-free phone cannot be used while Apple CarPlay is being used with a connected iPhone.
    • If you need an additional USB extension cable, use Kenwood's CA-U1EX USB extension cable (113CAU1EX, sold separately). Any other USB extension cable can cause CarPlay to malfunction.

iPod/iPhone Music Playback Only: If you don't desire Apple CarPlay, you can also connect your Lightning-connector Apple iPod/iPhone to the KW-M730BT for music playback & control only using JVC's Lightning connector-to-USB cable (105KSU62, sold separately) or the Lightning-to-USB cable that came with your Apple device. You can use either USB port on the radio. The receiver supports playback of stored music and music apps, along with control and charging, plus song/artist information and album art.

    • Head Unit Control: The JVC head unit allows you to navigation your iPod/iPhone's music library from its front-panel & touchscreen controls. The head unit offers unique search features like Category Search & Link Search, plus offers basic playback functions like Play/Pause, Fast Forward/Rewind, Previous/Next Track and Repeat/Random of your connected iPod/iPhone. You'll also still be able to control most connected Apple devices from its own touchscreen while connected via USB.
      • Category Search: Category Search allows you to navigate your iPod/iPhone's music library by Playlist, Artists, Album, Song, Genre, Song, Podcast, Audiobook, or Radio. You can then search each of these categories using the head unit's touchscreen slider function (categories will be listed in alphabetical order).
      • Link Search: The head unit offers Link Search, which allows you to play songs related to the currently playing song. Link Search lets the head unit create an album list of the currently playing artist, a song list of the currently playing album, an artist list of the currently playing genre, or an album list of currently playing composer.
    • Song/Artist Info & Album Art: The KW-M730BT will display your iPod/iPhone's stored music information including Track number, Elapsed playing time, Song/Album title, Artist name, and Album art. The unit will also display song/artist info and album art from select music apps.
    • Battery Charging: The head unit's USB connection provides 1.5A of current to power and charge your connected iPod/iPhone when your vehicle's ignition switch is set to the 'ACC' or 'On' position. If your iPod/iPhone has no initial battery charge, then the unit will not recognize it.

Apple Device Compatibility Chart: The JVC KW-M730BT is "Made for iPod/iPhone" compatible and supports the following iPod/iPhone model features (as of 2/22/2018):

iPod/iPhone Connection Notes: Connection notes regarding Apple iPod/iPhone connectivity -

    • Only one Apple iPod or iPhone can be connected at a time. If you try and connect two Apple devices at the same time, you get the following on-screen message "Only the first connected iPod can be used". You'll need to disconnect both devices and reconnect the one you want to listen to.
    • An Apple CarPlay device and Android Auto device cannot be connected at the same time, because they use the same "black" USB port (not "grey").
    • You can connect an Apple iPod/iPhone to the "black" USB port and a USB thumbdrive to the "grey" USB port at the same time.
    Android Auto + USB Playback

Android Auto: The JVC digital media receiver supports the Android Auto app for Android smartphones running OS Lollipop (5.0 or newer). Your compatible Android smartphone must be connected to the JVC receiver's "black" USB port (not "grey") via the included USB extension cable and the USB cable that came with your smartphone, plus be paired via Bluetooth. Use the Google Assistant to make a call, send a message, reply to a message, get driving directions, or listen to music.
    • Google & Waze Maps: Use Google Maps to get where you're going with on-screen maps, voice-guided navigation, live traffic information, lane guidance, and more. Select your destination by using the head unit's touchscreen or just say where you want to go through the unit's external mic and Google Speech Technology. You can even listen to music from your Android Auto device or other connected source device while using Google Maps. If you prefer, you can switch over to a simpler version of the community-based Waze navigation app (version 4.27 or higher).
    • Phone & SMS: With Android Auto you get access to your contacts and messages through the Pioneer NEX receiver while keeping your eyes on the road. Use the unit's external mic and Google Speech Technology to make a phone call, or have your text-messages read aloud to you while you concentrate on the road ahead; you can even reply to texts via voice command.
    • Music: Access your Android smartphone's music library through the Pioneer receiver via Google Play Music. You'll be able to browse music like you do on your smartphone with song/artist information display and album art. • Audio Streaming: A2DP 1.3 (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile), AVRCP 1.5 (Audio/Video Remote Control Profile).
Note: Due to the differences in Bluetooth technology, some Bluetooth enabled devices may be incompatible, function improperly, or may not support all features when used with the JVC KW-M730BT. Check here for the latest Bluetooth compatibility information.

SSP & USB Pairing: With Secure Simple Pairing (SSP), you can easily pair a Bluetooth enabled phone to the JVC KW-M730BT without having to enter pin codes or go through complicated settings. Included GPS antenna appears to be just for keeping the clock set. Mapping is done by your phone, using the radio screen. I love this radio! I have an iPhone and the Bluetooth works great for audio functions but Car Play is better still for audio, messaging, mapping, and more.

I need to know if a Rockford Fosgate amplifier PBR300X4 will work with the Jvc kw-m730bt with oem speakers for a 2008 Civic and a 2014 Pruis iii? If so what wiring do I need? thanks
    tim  Jan 01, 2018
    1 answer
    A
The JVC stereo features the RCA pre-amp outputs for providing audio signal to an external amplifier, sure. Having said that; adding an aftermarket amp to a Hybrid vehicle and factory speakers presents their own issues. (Factory speakers are not made to handle a lot of wattage and hybrid vehicles have sensitive electronics that cannot support the added power draw of high powered aftermarket amps) For additional assistance and personalized recommendations, feel free to contact us directly by phone or through our online chat service: https://www.crutchfield.com/support/ContactUs.aspx

Yes. I hooked my existing backup camera to this radio and it works fine. I have a 2014.5 camry. However, you can probably buy an aftermarket camera also. The radio doesn't care. Just make sure you get the appropriate wiring harness so you can hook the camera up to the radio.

    Q
what is the included gps antenna used for?
    kenneth  Oct 17, 2017
    1 answer
    A
When you have your phone connected for Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, the phone will use the JVC's GPS antenna instead of its own for navigation. The idea is that it will get better GPS reception that way, especially if your phone is tucked away in a compartment somewhere while plugged into the USB cable.

Where is the radio ID number located?
    herbert l  Sep 01, 2017

You mean the SiriusXM tuner ID? If you have the compatible SiriusXM tuner connected (SXV300V1) you can view the radio /tuner ID number on the JVC's display by switching down to channel 0 from the SiriusXM preview channel (channel 1).

Can this unit be removed and the original stereo placed back in? When I sell the car, I may want to keep the unit or just sell the car closer to stock. Does this installation permanently modify the face plate or any other parts of the car?

This will depend largely on your vehicle. For details on installation please contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and give you the details on what you will need for an installation.

Hello, Is there any way to engage google assistant from the steering wheel button? Like "Voice" command that can be programmed in the menu of the SONY XAV-AX100? Thanks

If you're using Android Auto, you may also find that you can just say "OK Google" at any time and the feature will activate. This may be dependent on the phone you have, but it worked with mine.

    raymond  Aug 01, 2017

Did not see a way to program the steering wheel button but when an iPhone is connected directly with the USB connector, Apple CarPlay allows verbal access to phone functions by saying "Hey Siri" at any time.
    philip  Jul 31, 2017

Yes you need a Steering Wheel Control (SWC) that is programmable. I used the idataLink Maestro and it worked with no problems. We have the JVC KW-M730BT and are using Android Auto with a LG V20 phone.

Is anyone regretting buying this unit due to most things work with your phone? Any issues with reception of cell phone? I believe this is the perfect unit, just a little hesitant because if phone is not working unit technically isn't in use.

I have only had it a short time but no problems or regrets so far. Keep in mind you can use a USB drive as well as music hard loaded onto your phone if you are in a bad coverage area. Currently I have been streaming with no problems. If you have good phone service where you drive mostly you should be fine. Navigation will be a problem if you lose coverage. So far I am very pleased with the unit.

Does this unit have a warning message at startup that requires you to accept each time the unit turns on or is there a way to bypass?
    brad  May 31, 2017

Yes, it does and even with a bypass installed, but it lasts only 10 seconds. You learn to ignore it after awhile
    linardy  Jun 04, 2017

There's a message you must accept, but you're given the option to checkmark a box that allows the message to disappear after 10 seconds, without having to manually agree to it, each startup. Mines checkmarked.

does the bluetooth functionality require a microphone to stick out from the deck or be mounted somewhere else in the car, or is it integrated into the deck?
    joseph  May 03, 2017
    4 answers
    A
The receiver comes with a Bluetooth microphone with about 6 ft of wire and a clip to clip to anywhere you'd like inside the car. I'm assuming in cars that have built in Bluetooth, it won't allow you to use the car's microphone. You'll also have to figure out a way to route the wire from behind the receiver to wherever you're planning to clip the mic.

The deck comes with a microphone that you mount somewhere in the car. I unsteady bleed this deck about 3 weeks ago and it works great!

Yes, you need to mount the mic somewhere in the car. You can play around where you want it to make sure it sounds good. I mounted the mic behind the rear view mirror of a sentra attached to the headliner
    linardy  May 03, 2017

Needs to be mounted in the car, either sun visor or steering wheel column. Microphone is included and installation is pretty easy

Does using Apple Car Play require a special USB cable to stick out of my dashboard and require a special cable?
    joseph  May 03, 2017

Car play requires the included USB cable plus an iPhone charging cable. As the port is on the back of the unit you have to route the USB cable to your glove box or else

Will this unit allow you to 'android auto' at the same time as using the iPod? Is there a list of compatible android devices? I have the Pixel XL. Thanks!

While this unit does have 2 USB ports, it is not able to run both at the same time. As for compatible Android devices, any Android smartphone or tablet running OS 5.0 or higher will work.
