JVC includes digital time alignment, Sound Lift, and K2 technologyTone-worthy advantages

This receiver also offers an impressive array of sound-sculpting controls, including a 13-band graphic equalizer and digital time alignment. Since much of today's music uses compression which can sometimes muddle the sound, so JVC's K2 technology helps bring back the depth and detail for all your digital music sources. If your car speakers are located down low in the doors, this receiver also offers Sound Lift, which adjusts your music's frequencies to virtually "raise" your speakers for better, more natural imaging.

Nice touches

The KW-V830BT includes three pairs of hot 4-volt RCA preamp outputs provide an ultra-clean signal when it's time to add amplifiers to your system. JVC also includes a customizable layout and an electronic angle adjustment for the display, providing better visibility depending on the radio's dash location in your vehicle. This receiver's "El Kameleon" stealth design delivers a seamless black look to your dash, so it won't draw as much attention when you don't want it to.

iDatalink Maestro lets you keep your factory extras

The KW-V830BT offers compatibility you won't find in many other aftermarket radios, thanks to the iDatalink Maestro module (not included). The module lets you keep factory features in your Chrysler, Ford, GM, Toyota, Fiat, or VW vehicle that you'd otherwise lose when you install a new radio. You'll also be able to check out expanded functionality on the JVC's screen, including gauges, climate controls, a distance sensor, and tire pressure and temperature monitors. It'll even integrate your stealth K40 radar detector into the stereo's display, so you can see and hear about incoming threats (coming soon).

Want to keep your car's steering wheel audio controls?

In most cars, you'll need an adapter to retain those controls with this car stereo. Connect a few wires, then program the adapter for your particular car and radio, and you'll retain the convenience of your steering wheel controls. You'll see the adapters that work with your vehicle when you add this receiver to your cart.

Bluetooth note: Use of this receiver's Bluetooth features will depend upon your phone's Bluetooth capabilities. Learn more in our article explaining Bluetooth profiles.

iPod/smartphone note: If you're going to use your iPod or smartphone with this receiver, be sure to check "Details" for compatibility information.

Great receiver. Installed on my 2006 Toyota Tacoma. Specifically wanted Sirius and Android Auto. Had issues getting that to work, had to call in to Crutchfield's awesome support and got it going. Once everything was where it needed to be, my Note 8 and JVC work seamlessly. Everything I needed and huge savings for installing it myself. I have not tried any DVD's yet but so far this baby has exceeded my expectations.

Pros: Android auto, bluetooth, DVD/CD, SiriusXM,

Cons: It was a hassle getting everything connected and installed properly.

I love the head unit. It looks great and sounds great with the Pioneer speakers I added. I am still learning all the features on it, and there is a lot. Had to call Crutchfield several times and they walked me through the setup issues with no problems. I added a backup camera and the Idata Meastro to link up with the Sync system in the Ford truck. The camera is great with it and the Meastro is doing its thing, but the Sync in my truck has been a headache from the get go. Front speakers don't work most of the time, but now with the new unit I can use my phone to call using the Bluetooth on the JVC instead of the Sync. I was hoping this would fix the speaker issue, but it must be in the connector between the cab and the door. Seems to be an issue with F150's. Thanks Crutchfield, y'all are great!

Pros: Sounds great, looks great, lots of features, big screen

    Cons: None

Radio arrived in excellent condition. Installation was easy as pie. I would definitely buy another radio.

Pros: Install was very easy. Even on a 2003 Jeep Wrangler. It was necessary to cut out part of the dash. But everything went well.

Cons: None that I can think of. Very happy.

Installed this head unit in a 2012 Jeep Wrangler. This head unit is exactly what I was looking for. I was a little concerned about the screen brightness after I read some of the reviews. I'm happy to say there is not an issue with the brightness. It's a great head unit for the price.

I installed this radio before switching out the speakers, holy crap that made a huge difference. I almost considered not upgrading the speakers, but since I already spent the cash I put them in. The radio is fairly easy to use, although using it with Maestro, if you need to go back and change a setting after initial setup, you can't without re-initializing (resetting) the system. That's my only issue with it, but it sounds great and is easy to use.

Pros: Great stereo for the money.

Cons: No way (that I've found so far) to correct set up errors through the radio after initial setup is complete.

The wireless controls are user friendly, YOU can hear AND make calls EASILY , AND THE Mic is pretty cool to. PRETTY CLEAR TO..

Good internal amp, kicks the stock speakers up a notch. Easy to install. Too much reflective glare, windows will get tinted darker soon, so I can live with it. The scratch and dent price was the same as a new unit else where... But saved money getting the adapters through CF, plus the piece of mind of great support.

Pros: Sounds good, easy functionability, clean look in dash

Cons: Reflective glare from sun. Kind of a hassle to get the extra adapter to mirror phone to unit

Love the look it brings to my truck and the maestro integrated everything great. I would definitely recommend this head unit if you can get it for a great price. JVC is owned by Kenwood so the decks have a lot of the same internals and are quality. Love this unit.

    Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

I bought this unit for my wife's 2010 Malibu. She had been wanting me to install a back-up camera for some time and this unit had all the features that she wanted. I added a BandMotion back-up camera and a SXV300 SiriusXM tuner. The installation was a breeze thanks to the advanced ReadyHarness and dash kit from Crutchfield. The unit looks as though it came stock in the vehicle. I made one call to Tech Support for clarification on a wiring issue. I got through immediately to a technician that answered my question. The JVC has a great display; large easy to read graphics and BIG clock display. The controls are easy to figure out and use without a lot of reading of the manual. I used the factory speakers and everything sounds great! Getting everything from Crutchfield was the way to go. Everything was shipped in one box so when I got ready for the install, it was all there. Everything met or exceeded my expectations. Great product!

Pros: Nice clean look. All the features you want and then some. Easy to navigate the controls on the screen. Apple Car Play is a great feature.

Cons: A little awkward to switch over to the SiriusXM tuner, but not a big issue. Other than that, no complaints.

Wanted to use Apple Car Play in my 2006 Mazda Miata and this unit is almost perfect. Connects via blue tooth and the Apple Car Play quickly. Interface is fairy easy to learn but a bit busy because the unit allows so many options and inputs. Sound quality is better than the OEM unit (no surprise here) using the factory speakers. I managed to buy the unit on a one day sale.

Pros: What was said in the main review.

Cons: Not sure this is competitively priced compared to other units at that price point. But for what I paid it is fine.

Very pleased. After spending quite a bit of time researching different units, I had settled on this one. In general, I discounted most of the criticisms as being nit-picky (e.g., yes, when the angle is just right the glare makes the display difficult to see -- isn't that true for everything?) or probable installation error. With all the capabilities, some may find the learning curve is rather steep but well worth the effort. All other things being equal, I probably would have made the purchase elsewhere, mainly out of habit. I kept returning to Crutchfield and found this on sale for less and had no hesitation in buying. In addition to the lower cost, the guidance and support from Crutchfield is something none of the other vendors provide and very reassuring. While I am fairly handy, I had some trepidation at the thought of dismantling part of the dash and running the wiring for the XM tuner, the GPS antenna, and a couple other items. The installation instructions (vehicle specific) provided by Crutchfield were detailed and the install went smoothly without the need to call tech support. In summary, I could not be more pleased with the JVC 830, the price, and the interactions with the Crutchfield operation. While price will always be a prime factor, Crutchfield will now be the first source I look to for future electronic purchases.

I am not at all thrilled with this product. The Android Care is a bit of a bother to use. I don't find the interface to be very user friendly and I found it difficult to learn. The actually radio gets good reception and the sound is nice. Using my phone and that data all the time is a problem if I am driving, yet it restricts some functions even when I am not driving. My recommendation is to get the navigation system that is built INTO the new install, instead of needing to use my phone for the navigation, Spotify, or for the phone. I continue to struggle with BT disconnecting and other minor issues.

Pros: Good sound. Looks good in the dash. Was a special offer from Crutchfield.

Cons: Not user friendly. A challenge to learn. Not a stand alone navigation unit, though it is close to the price of one.

Installed this HU last Saturday and my son is very happy as the OEM stereo had no BT option. Now he can access his music thru Spotify vs. listening to that dreaded dinosaur known as FM radio. My wife and I are happy as he can now plug his iPhone in and connect to Apple CarPlay to access everything while his phone stays in the holder. Like one of the other reviewers I did not realize Apple CarPlay or Android Auto was not accessible via BT. However, this is easily remedied by connecting the phone to one of the provided USB extension cords but does require some thought on how you want to run the cords for access to the phone(s). It is easy to navigate through the menus and the sound is very good playing through the OEM Bose amp and speakers.

Pros: Easy to navigate menus, safety factor of using Apple CarPlay or Android Auto while driving, sound

    Cons: None

Cons: Screen can be a bit finicky

    Pros: Price, android auto, sound

Cons: Only con I have found is that you can not use the touch screen to control volume while on android auto. You have to use volume buttons.

Jeep Wrangler Unlimited w/ Alpine System Upgrade

    2015 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited

This head unit is exactly what I was hoping for in an upgrade for my 2015 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. Due to an impending cross-country move, I decided it best to have it professionally installed by a third party chain to ensure I have support if things go awry. As for the features, they're great! (I was slightly disappointed that AndroidAuto is not completely Bluetooth, but it is probably for the best.) Additionally, hands-free is still available outside AndroidAuto for music and placing calls. Since my wife uses Apple, we wanted to see how the unit responded to my phone being plugged into the main USB and her's to the auxiliary. I'm happy to say, it doesn't mess anything up and allows her phone to be connected as an iPod, which is perfect for the majority of our needs. I'm still adjusting to the unit, but have an issue with Google Maps/Waze switching to Night Time Mode. I discovered that when it fails to sync properly, you can turn on the display dimmer to force change it. Minor issue, but figured it is worth noting. Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase and that I have life warranty through both Crutchfield and the third party brand.

Pros: Google Assistant (hands-free), Bluetooth Connectivity (calls & music when not connected to Android Auto), Apple Phone connects as iPod when Android Auto is connected

Cons: Need to connect phone for AndroidAuto, Google Maps/Waze Night Time Mode doesn't auto-sync (can force by engaging unit's dimmer)

    Big Sound Quality Upgrade

    Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

Installed this JVC unit in my 2011 Chevy Traverse because the stock DVD, CD, and navigation functions were failing. I was not looking for, or expecting better sound. However, even with the stock speakers, the sound quality is stunning; jaw dropping. You would think Bruce is singing from the passenger seat and Max Weinberg has his kit set up on the dash. Even my surly 17 year-old said, "Wow, how does a head unit make that much of a difference?" I am still learning all the features, but I wish this unit would display the channel names on the presets (like the OEM). It also seems for now I can't have one list of presets that can include XM and FM channels on the same set. So, I have to switch the source to FM to get 16 presets there. Then if I want XM I have to switch over to XM to get a mere six presets. So I can't have the local NPR FM station on the same set of presets as XM Ozzie's Boneyard and ESPN. Bluetooth (no cable) broadcast of all the Spotify playlists on my phone is a great feature. I understand now why some head units don't need to play CDs. This unit can (a feature I need for work). Thought I would miss a volume knob but swirling your finger on the screen either clockwise or counter-clockwise works great.

Pros: Big sound upgrade even with stock speakers. Dual zone functions to play DVDs in backseat for the kids. Retain most steering wheel controls with idatalink Maestro. Flexible ability to move screen icons as desired.

Cons: Not all steering wheel controls retained with idatalink Maestro.

Perfect for my Fj cruiser. The 07 doesn't have the Bluetooth connection to use phone. The unit is AWESOME, has a great screen and reaction time. Android Auto is my new best-friend when it comes to traveling!!! Playing with the unit U can now press the button to the far right and you're now one-click away from the Home screen. I plugged in my 4TB drive and the movie played right away with GREAT picture quality for a car radio, almost looks like I'm watching a mini version of my 4K TV LOL

Pros: The ability to have a full screen and no more volume knobs. It's ALL SCREEN and I LOVE IT. To be able to touch & drag the icons as if it was a smartphone is also pretty cool when it comes to personalizing the Home screen shortcuts

Cons: Endless amounts of features, still learning as I type!! NO CONS as of now

    Verified customer (What's this?)
    Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

I was looking for a CarPlay head unit to replace my old nav receiver. I originally got the 820 but had to return it as it would constantly re-boot. The newer 830 replaces the 820 and includes updated software and a better UI. I listen to a lot of podcasts, SiriusXM (Howard Stern and other talk channels) and jazz, so, having an external amplifier and high-powered speakers wasn't a criteria for my compact '05 Toyota Matrix XRS. Even so, I wanted a receiver with more power than the traditional 12W per channel output. The Kenwood/JVC receivers typically are more powerful, and at 22W/50W per channel, the 830 is among the most powerful CarPlay receivers, currently available in this price range, so it was the obvious choice. I had previously installed Polk speakers and a single 8" Kicker sub and the 830's integrated power amplifier is plenty to fill my car with good, full-range audio. After configuring the crossover and sub levels, I haven't been able to run the unit past 50%. If you listen to R&B, rock or other types of music that require more level, an external amplifier and more powerful speakers are a must, but for me, the 830 has plenty of power. CarPlay is great and I love not having to fumble for my phone while driving. I am a firm believer in distraction-free driving and CarPlay has been a great addition to iOS. Having to use a cable is a minor hassle, but until there is widespread wireless integration with CarPlay, there is no other option.

Pros: CarPlay integration is great. Updated software w/faster performance. Good UI and easy to use. Good audio configuration options and a flexible crossover. More powerful amplifier than most receivers. Supports phone use via Bluetooth for those times I'm lazy and don't plug in my phone for CarPlay phone use. Physical master audio level (volume) control. Physical function/Siri button control.

Cons: Physical audio master (volume) is great, but it's an up/down button configuration. Would prefer a rotary control, but I'm nitpicking. Touchscreen could be more responsive. Too many steps to get to the Home screen. The Siri button is on the right (far) side of the unit.

Great Receiver, I installed it in a 2015 F250 XLT. As always, Crutchfield Tech Support is helpful! I used a iDatalink to maintain steering wheel controls. I also added a backup camera. Great unit, easy to use. The only issue I have is seeing the backup camera with my sunglasses on. Might be due to polarization on sunglasses and/or the fact that the unit is flush on the dash (i.e. not inset 1/2 like most factory installed systems). I really like the CD player because I still use CD in addition to my phone, Pandora, etc. Apple Play works great. iDatalink gives tons of vehicle info that connects direct to the OBS.

Pros: CD player, Apple Play, Vehicle Info with iDatalink

    Cons: Screen glare with sunglasses

    Touchscreen + Remote Control

6.8" Clear Resistive Touchscreen: The JVC KW-V830BT features a 6.8" widescreen (16:9) clear resistive touchscreen LCD with LED backlighting. The clear resistive touchscreen LCD provides a high contrast ratio, crystal clear display, and vivid text. The LCD touchscreen has a resolution of 800 (H) x 480 (V) x RGB with 1,152,000 total pixels. The LCD serves as a video monitor, system information display, and touchscreen control panel.

    • Gesture Control: In addition to basic touch control, the receiver's 6.8" touchscreen offers Gesture Control. Gesture Control lets you operate certain functions of the KW-V830BT by making specific gesture commands on the unit's touchscreen. You can adjust the volume of the multimedia receiver by making a circular motion with your finger on the unit's touchscreen. You'll also be able to navigate your music by simply swiping the touchscreen left/right or up/down.
    • El Kameleon Design: The KW-V830BT features JVC's El Kameleon "stealth" design which totally blacks out the 6.8" touchscreen monitor when the head unit is powered off or your vehicle is turned off; there is no backlit illumination at all when the receiver or vehicle is off. There is still a JVC and SiriusXM logo, plus the KW-V830BT's model number, as well as volume up/down and function buttons on the front-panel.
Note: To prevent the display of video while the vehicle is in motion, the light green wire (attached to rear chassis) must be connected to the vehicle's parking brake detection circuit. You cannot view video unless your vehicle's parking brake is engaged. If you attempt to view video without the parking brake engaged, the unit's LCD touchscreen will simply display a blue screen and "Parking Off". While your vehicle is in motion (parking brake off), you can still view all of the head unit's menu screens/settings, source information, metadata, and album artwork; as well as CarPlay & Android Auto.

Display Settings: You can make the following adjustments to the head unit's touchscreen display to better fit your application and needs.

    • Custom Home Screen & Backgrounds: You can customize the head unit's Home Screen by rearranging the icons and moving the icons of the four most sources you use most to this screen. You can also choose between six preset background images or download your own still image (800 x 480) for use as the unit's background from a connected USB thumbdrive.
    • Variable Color Illumination: The touchscreen panel's color illumination can be changed to one of eight preset colors - blue, red, green, yellow, orange, purple, pink, or aqua. You can also choose to have the unit constantly scroll through all eight preset color. In addition, you can create a custom color using a combination (0-31) of red, green, and blue.
    • Clock Display: The DVD receiver offers a 12-hour clock which is visible from any source or menu screen. With your vehicle's key in the accessory or start position, the head unit will continue to display the LCD background image, clock, and button illumination during "AV Off" mode. Pressing the Power button touchscreen icon turns the unit off completely.
    • Dimmer: When the illumination lead (orange/white) is connected and the dimmer set to Auto, the display will dim automatically when you turn on your vehicle's lights. The dimmer can also be set to Off (normal brightness at all times), On (display is always dimmed), or Sync (dims or brightens when the headlight switch is turned on or off).

Remote Control: The JVC KW-V830BT offers compatibility with factory steering wheel controls (adapter sold separately) and comes with an wireless remote control for added convenience.

    • IR Remote: The JVC KW-V830BT includes an IR remote control (RM-RK258) for wireless operation of the DVD receiver, including Bluetooth hands-free communication.
    • Steering Wheel Controls: The head unit features an OEM steering wheel remote control input wire (blue/yellow) within the included wiring harness that lets you keep your vehicle's factory radio steering wheel remote controls when used with an optional steering wheel audio control adapter (sold separately).

Security Code: You can program the unit with a 4 digit security code. Once the unit has been programmed with a security code, the code must be entered to use the unit after it has been disconnected from power.

iPhone (CarPlay) & Android Auto Integration

Android Auto: The JVC DVD receiver supports the Android Auto app for Android smartphones running OS Lollipop (5.0 or newer). Your compatible Android smartphone must be connected to the JVC receiver's "black" USB port (not "grey") via the included USB extension cable and the USB cable that came with your smartphone, plus be paired via Bluetooth. Android Auto extends the Android platform into your car in a way that's purpose-built for driving and automatically brings you useful information and organizes it into simple on-screen "card-style" pop-ups that appear just when they're needed. It's designed to minimize distraction so you can stay focused on the road ahead. Features of Android Auto include:

    • Google Assistant: The JVC receiver enhances your Android Auto experience even more by incorporating Google Assistant using the head unit's external microphone and your car speakers for voice command and text-to-speech, which makes using Android Auto and all of its integrated applications fast, easy, and safe. You will need to press the "mic" button or say "OK Google" to activate the Google Assistant. Use the Google Assistant to make a call, send a message, reply to a message, get driving directions, or listen to music.
    • Google & Waze Maps: Use Google Maps to get where you're going with on-screen maps, voice-guided navigation, live traffic information, lane guidance, and more. Select your destination by using the head unit's touchscreen or just say where you want to go through the unit's external mic and Google Speech Technology. You can even listen to music from your Android Auto device or other connected source device while using Google Maps. If you prefer, you can switch over to a simpler version of the community-based Waze navigation app (version 4.27 or higher).
    • Phone & SMS: With Android Auto you get access to your contacts and messages through the JVC receiver while keeping your eyes on the road. Use the unit's external mic and Google Speech Technology to make a phone call, or have your text-messages read aloud to you while you concentrate on the road ahead; you can even reply to texts via voice command.
    • Music: Access your Android smartphone's music library through the JVC receiver via Google Play Music. You'll be able to browse music like you do on your smartphone with song/artist information display and album art. Use the receiver's touchscreen to select songs or just say what song you want to listen to through the head unit's external mic and Google Speech Technology. You also get access to online music and radio stations from Amazon Music, Pandora, Spotify, iHeart Radio, Slacker Radio, & Tune-In. Music apps include song and station browsing, plus song/artist information and album art or station logo.

    Notes:

    • Android smartphones with a USB Type-C connector (including the Pixel) may not function without appropriate USB Type-A to USB Type-C cable.
    • Bluetooth hands-free phone and wireless music streaming cannot be used while Android Auto is being used with a connected Android smartphone.
    • Use a USB cable that is under 6' long and avoid using any extension cable other than the one supplied.
    • If you do need an additional USB extension cable, use Kenwood's CA-U1EX USB extension cable (113CAU1EX, sold separately). Any other USB extension cable can cause Android Auto to malfunction
    • Click here to learn more About Android Auto and to see what phones are compatible.

Apple CarPlay Compatible: Apple CarPlay is the smarter, safer in-vehicle interface to operate your iPhone (iOS 7.1+) with Lightning-connector. Your iPhone must be connected to the JVC receiver's "black" USB port (not "grey") via the included USB extension cable and the Lightning-cable that came with your Apple device or JVC's Lightning connector-to-USB cable (105KSU62, sold separately). CarPlay features Siri voice control and is specially designed for driving scenarios. It also works with the JVC receiver's touchscreen controls. Use CarPlay to get directions, make phone calls, listen to voice mail, send/ receive messages and select music in a way that keeps you focused on the road ahead.

    • Maps: The power and simplicity of Apple Maps comes to your dashboard; complete with turn-by-turn direction, traffic conditions, and estimated travel time. You can enter a new destination or choose a favorite or recent destination using the head unit's touchscreen or by simply asking Siri. CarPlay can also predict where you most likely want to go using addresses from your email, text messages, contacts, and calendars.
    • Phone & Messages: You'll be able to make calls, return missed calls, and listen to voicemails through the JVC receiver. Siri can also help you do all these things. In addition, Siri can send, read, and reply to your text messages for you; so you never have to look at your iPhone while driving.
    • Music Library: Access your artists, song, playlists, and iTunes Radio on your iPhone using the JVC receiver's touchscreen. Or, just tell Siri what you'd like to listen to. The head unit's touchscreen will display song/artist information, as well as album art in the background.
    • Apps: CarPlay also supports additional audio apps that you've downloaded to your iPhone for enjoying music, radio, sports, news, podcasts, & audiobooks. Control them from the head unit's touchscreen just like you would from your iPhone. Current supported apps include (fees may apply):

    Notes:

    • Bluetooth hands-free phone cannot be used while Apple CarPlay is being used with a connected iPhone.
    • If you need an additional USB extension cable, use Kenwood's CA-U1EX USB extension cable (113CAU1EX, sold separately). Any other USB extension cable can cause CarPlay to malfunction.

iPod/iPhone Music Playback Only: If you don't desire Apple CarPlay, you can also connect your Lightning-connector Apple iPod/iPhone to the KW-V830BT for music playback & control only using JVC's Lightning connector-to-USB cable (105KSU62, sold separately) or the Lightning-to-USB cable that came with your Apple device. You can use either USB port on the radio. The receiver supports playback of stored music and music apps, along with control and charging, plus song/artist information and album art.

    • Head Unit Control: The JVC head unit allows you to navigation your iPod/iPhone's music library from its front-panel & touchscreen controls. The head unit offers unique search features like Category Search & Link Search, plus offers basic playback functions like Play/Pause, Fast Forward/Rewind, Previous/Next Track and Repeat/Random of your connected iPod/iPhone. You'll also still be able to control most connected Apple devices from its own touchscreen while connected via USB.
      • Category Search: Category Search allows you to navigate your iPod/iPhone's music library by Playlist, Artists, Album, Song, Genre, Song, Podcast, Audiobook, or Radio. You can then search each of these categories using the head unit's touchscreen slider function (categories will be listed in alphabetical order).
      • Link Search: The head unit offers Link Search, which allows you to play songs related to the currently playing song. Link Search lets the head unit create an album list of the currently playing artist, a song list of the currently playing album, a artist list of the currently playing genre, or a album list of currently playing composer.
    • Song/Artist Info & Album Art: The DMX704S will display your iPod/iPhone's stored music information including Track number, Elapsed playing time, Song/Album title, Artist name, and Album art. The unit will also display song/artist info and album art from select music apps.
    • Battery Charging: The head unit's USB connection provides 1.5A of current to power and charge your connected iPod/iPhone when your vehicle's ignition switch is set to the 'ACC' or 'On' position. If your iPod/iPhone has no initial battery charge, then the unit will not recognize it.

Apple Device Compatibility Chart: The JVC KW-V830BT is "Made for iPod/iPhone" compatible and supports the following iPod/iPhone model features (as of 2/22/2018):

Do I need an adapter for the controls on my steering wheel in my 2015 Chevy impala? And if so, where do I find it? And will it support my iPhone 7 Plus?

It should work just fine with the 7 Plus. The specs show it is compatible with the 5c all the way up to the iPhone 10. If you already have the unit and are not able to get the CarPlay feature to work (which requires phone to be connected via cable) try changing the iPhone cable itself. When i first installed my stereo I found that one of my older charging cables wouldn't work with CarPlay. Simply switched to a different cable and It's worked great ever since.

I just confirmed that it'll play Amazon Music via Bluetooth audio on this JVC KW-V830BT head unit. The sound is pretty good too. CarPlay only works via the USB port with a lightning cable. You can use either method.

About a year ago I switched from Amazon music to spotify. You may want to because thus unit works seemlessly with my phone via bluetooth. Spotify capability is built into the unit. But the answer for you is yes. When i want to listen to my podcast app i press the button on the unit for bluetooth connectivity. Then i say okay google, play [podcast]. Anything playing on my phone plays through the unit - without a cable. So you could play a playlist from your phone. I am not sure if you can download an amazon music app into the unit software to make your selections from the unit.

Android auto will work on your phone without being linked to the head unit. But to use it on the head unit it need to be directly hooked via wire. I use a short charging cable with the USB end plugged into the head unit. It also charges the phone at the same time.

Does this unit automatically connect to a previously synced iPhone each time the car and unit are started, or does it require a manual BT sync every time it is turned on?
    [ Tom  Oct 10, 2017 ]

Yes it will sync to two phones automatically. The challenge come with the use of factory phone connection. I installed in my 2013 Jeep Wrangler, with a kit to retain the factory steering wheel settings. Works great, just have to know how to set it up with the carplay so you can use the factory stuff if that is what you intend to do.

I have an Android and the wife has the iPhone but I'm 99.9% sure it syncs automatically as long as you have Bluetooth enabled on the phone. We also have an iPad and it syncs automatically every time we turn it on as well. We're using the iPad for music as we travel. In fact I know the phone syncs automatically - we'll be listening to music from the iPad and her phone will ring and the radio turns down the music so we can answer the phone hands free.

I'm setting up my amplifiers and wanted to know at what volume is distortion detected on this receiver?
    [ Richie  Jul 24, 2017 ]
    1 answer
    A
Well, that depends. There is distortion (clipping) on the line level outputs, which I assume you would want to use to drive external amplifiers. And there is clipping from the internal amplifiers. The amplifier clipping point is also going to be impacted by the load. I can't give an accurate answer without a proper bench test, but to my ears, the unit is pretty clean up to about 75% of full output (master level). But again, this should not be considered a precise answer.

I just installed this stereo. For the most part really like it. Have a question about SiriusXM operation. It has 4 sets of 6 presets. When I cycle through he presets with my steering wheel controls it will go through P1.1, P1.2... P1.6 then back to P1.1. I would like for it to go to P1.1, P1.2... P1.6 then to P2.1, P2.2, etc. Basically sycle through all 24 presets in a row instead of just the 6 presets for the current "Band" that it's in. How do I do this?

Why does this unit come with a GPS antenna? It doesn't appear to have any built in map apps, and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connected phones will have their own GPS.
