Polk Audio MagniFi Sound Bar™
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
Easy to install, good but not great sound quality.
From Polk: Hear Every Word of Dialogue with Polk VoiceAdjust Technology
Polk Audio's MagniFi system sports a slim sound bar and a wireless subwoofer.
I'm the first to admit, my ears aren't what they once were (after so many years behind a drum kit). Whispered dialogue can be tough, and backing up and replaying scenes can be annoying and distracting. The slim MagniFi Sound Bar from Polk Audio has a patent-pending VoiceAdjust™ feature that caught my attention. It promises to optimize the clarity of spoken dialogue — an intriguing prospect for those of us who've been known to ride the volume button on the remote.
Hooking up the MagniFi Sound Bar is quick and easy. It connects to your TV with just a single audio cable (optical digital if your TV has that type of output; otherwise via an analog 3.5mm stereo mini cable). Using the digital connection lets you take advantage of the bar's built-in Dolby® Digital decoding. Speaking of connections, the MagniFi has built-in Bluetooth, allowing you to stream music and other sources from your smartphone or tablet wirelessly. If your device has NFC (Near Field Communication), you can simply touch it to the sound bar for easy, instantaneous Bluetooth pairing.
The included sub sports a 7" woofer to deliver satisfying bass. It connects to the sound bar wirelessly, which makes placing it in your room a more convenient affair — you'll just need to plug it into a wall outlet for power. Polk built in a time alignment feature to ensure that the sound bar and sub fire accurately together, for optimal sound.
Excellent value for the price. There is a noticeable lac of lower mid range though. Volume is great, no distortion at all. Easy set up and bluetooth connectivity.

Easy to install, good but not great sound quality.
Great Sound! I think some of the people that wrote poor reviews fail to realize this is a soundbar and not a stereo. Certain genres of music don't sound great but again, not a stereo. Movies are amazing. Wife and I jumped out of our seats while watching an action movie after hooked up. No connection problems, easy to hook up.
Excellent value for the price. There is a noticeable lac of lower mid range though. Volume is great, no distortion at all. Easy set up and bluetooth connectivity.
I was very disappointed with this product. The sound was OK, but not as good as a similar level Samsung sound bar that I purchased from Crutchfield. I discovered that part of the reason it sounded tinny was because it continued to lose the wireless connection with the bass unit. But then a few times the system would jump to the highest volume and the remote wouldn't work. Repeated efforts to turn off/on, control the volume, etc. with the remote wouldn't work and I had to return the product. Not sure if it was a defective piece of equipment or symptomatic of bigger problems. A call to technical support determined that it shouldn't have been due to external interference. I'll never know why it didn't work, and will instead look for a different manufacturer.
Huge improvement from the OEM TV speakers. Much easier to make out spoken words. I'm not losing my hearing after all. The price at the time of purchase was too good to turn down. Does not have ability to add rear/surround sound speakers. May return later for sound at with potential to add rear/ surround sound speakers
Pros: Much easier to hear voices. Extremely easy setup.
Cons: No ability to add rear speakers.
Very Easy hook up. A little dissapointed with sound quality. In comparison to other sound bars in this price range. Volume level graduations not fine enough.
Pros: Easy hookup
Cons: Volume level increments too large
Overall a good product. Easy hook-up.
Pros: Fits nicely in front of tv
Cons: Keep adjusting sound levels. After turning on/off.
It's not perfect but a huge improvement in voice quality.
Easy hook up Great sound helps any tv to get that extra sound
Cons: Think the digital cable could have been a tad better quality
This thing is great. The Voice Adjust has been fine for us and covers what we need to hear.
Pros: Takes up little space, very easy setup, sounds good and has enough bass for our needs.
Cons: I would like the remote to be a little bigger.
Appearance of the item is sleek. Took forever for sub to connect to bar. When i am streaming music the device will stop playing. At that point i have to turn bar off and reconnect. I do have second thoughts about this purchase
Pros: Sleek. Sounds good. Avg price
Cons: Took a while for sub to connect. Drops bluetooth signal when streaming.Crutchfield response on 6/14/2017 Keno, we're sorry you're disappointed with your sound bar. I give 2 stars because it does work but nowhere near what I was led to believe from sales staff. I returned the first one as when you put a show on hold the sound doesn't come back for 10-15 seconds. They sent a replacement and now it does the same thing. The bass comes and goes and seems to constantly need resetting as it won't hold settings. Save your money.
Pros: Makes noise
Cons: Does not work reliably or consistently
Great soundboard for the price.
Pros: Great sound, awesome bass, and a lot of features.
Cons: Voiceadjust needs a little work
Great Unit. After two months of ownership I can say that I really enjoy having this sound bar. I am a little hard of hearing, so I bought it because of its adjustable middle channel (the voice level adjustment), which did make a moderate difference. Set up was great, super easy. I LOVE that I could sync it with my TV remote signal so that I don't have to use the system's remote. Unit sounds amazing, I even left the subwoofer on the stock setting and it sounds epic with an action movie playing. It will go to sleep mode if is doesn't sense incoming signal for a period of time, which I really like for regular use but can be a bit annoying if you pause a movie for a long while then come back to it because the unit takes a few seconds to wake back up. We just rewind a bit before we hit play and all is well. My main complaint is that the volume increments are a bit too far apart. Hit volume up once and its not quite loud enough, hit it again and it's a bit too loud. Its not bad enough to make me dislike the system, but Polk should consider changing this on future designs. Crutchfield shipped it in its factory packaging rather than double boxing, so I was a bit worried when I saw it coming off of the delivery truck but everything was perfectly fine, kudo's to Polk for packaging it well. Either way, I'm very happy and would recommend this to anyone that wants great sound but doesn't want to bother with satellite speakers or full theater systems. I would give a 4.5 out of 5 if I could
Pros: Sync with TV remote Amazing sound Great looks to complement TV Wireless Sub
Cons: Volume adjustment increments too wide/large Could wake from sleep mode a bit faster
Great sound. Decent low end. Great soundbar for almost anyone..
We purchased this system because we needed something to discriminate or make clearer the dialogue in the streamed content we watch on Amazon Fire, Acorn and Netflix. The sound is better than from the TV which purports to have "clear voice". However, my wife has the hearing problems and continues to have difficulty with dialogue and the incessant background music. We are some distance from the set and the wireless subwoofer only seems to exacerbate the problem. We are senior citizens and maybe we are saddled with this but somewhere out there, a solution is lurking (we hope). We seldom listen to music in that room.
Pros: Better than TV sound.
Cons: Still dialogue clarity issues.
Good little speaker huge improvement from any tv sounds, good base with the sub! I use it to listen to music as well through airport express, works great!
Pros: good sounds, good bass, easy to setup,
Cons: indicators of sound selection and levels could be improved
The Polk Audio Magnifi sound bar is a great value for the money. The bass is surprisingly strong and the voice clarity feature means you can actually hear the speaking parts in any movie while still having a thumping base for the background music. The set up was very easy, but the instruction manual is very poorly written. The shape is a little strange, but it fits in the limited space I have under the TV. I have to use the tiny remote because the buttons on top of the bar are covered by my TV. The remote works fine; I just wish it was a little more substantial.
Pros: big bass sound with voice clarity. easy to set up you get a lot for the money Size of the sound bar
Cons: small remote poor instructions - especially with programming the TV remote. odd shape for the sounbar
I had high hopes for this Polk sound bar but found like others that when playing music using Bluetooth from my smartphone that it was lacking fullness in high frequency content. I connected the optical output from my DVD player directly to the soundbar and the audio was fantastic on some movies but I tried playing the movie "Gravity" and got no sound at all. I thought it was because the sound bar lacks a DTS decoder but I think the movie has Dolby digital as well as DTS so I don't know why that didn't work. I replaced this sound bar with the Yamaha YAS-106 which has both decoders and have been very happy with its performance. It does a much better job with music reproduction too.
Pros: Great styling. Good performance with movies having Dolby digital content.
Cons: Lacks a DTS decoder which may cause no sound playback from some movies. Music can sound muffled. No HDMI connectors. Tiny remote, easily misplaced. Very poor instruction manual; lacks info on meaning of LED lights on the Soundbar and the Subwoofer.
Very disappointed with both, blu tooth and remote range, not a common complaint after reading reviews. I've had it since last September so I'm sure I'm stuck with it. I thought Polk was trusted for quality sound don't get me wrong it's not terrible but it's not what I was expecting from them.
Needed better sound from my Panasonic 55" Plasma. Read reviews and listened in showrooms and at friends. Then went to Crutchfield's and found the best deal. Can now hear the voice of the announcers at basketball games. The Polk was easy to set-up and the sound is amazing. Strongly recommend.
I've lost the highs in my left ear. As a result I have trouble following conversation on the television. With this product things are a lot better. Unfortunately they still don't have much to say that's worth listing to.
I purchased this sound bar to provide more definition in the vocal range; we watch a bunch of BBC shows, and the sound track is often muddled, soft, and really tough to follow. I was pleased with the "voice lift" portion of the package (obviously, a midrange EQ boost); it does help a great deal. The sub works well, and the individual control on that level allows some fine tuning. Drag that the system won't turn off when the signal is turned off, but i can live with it. Setup was straightforward and easy; took about 10 minutes.
Easy setup, shipped fast. True plug and play sound. Big improvement over Sony tv sound without wires running everywhere.
Easy set up, everything I needed was in the box. Easy sync with other remote. Awesome sound with abundant bass plus increased voice clarity through the middle speaker. We love it!! Plus a great price and free UPS delivery. We are happy campers!
Pros: Ease of set up, Cables included . Great sound! Excellent value
Sounds terrible in music mode. In movie mode, the only other mode, it has to be turned up loud for the voices to be clear. The sub has developed a weird noise after 2 months. Now I just have to call Crutchfield to take this back. Don't throw away your packaging... you may need it!
Big improvement over Samsung tv sound. Learning curve required to use remote.
It's good but it's not a surround sound system
This sound bar does it all. True, its not a 5.1 system, but for 2 physical items (the sound bar and the external subwoofer) you can not beat the sound that comes out of this soundbar. The quality of the sound is very clear and rich and by increasing the "VOICE" on the remote (this will increase or decrease the center speaker) it truly brings out the speakers voice which you can hear over the background noise (watching a football game or a movie with the actor talking while there is a lot of music or sound in the background). The separate bass (subwoofer) is more than enough for a deep rich bass sound. I also noticed by increasing or decreasing the volume by quickly taping the volume up or down button on your TV remote, once the sound bar is programmed to the TV remote, you can get 3 different sounds between each lighted dot on the soundbar. Its like a volume control where you can adjust it to the exact volume that you want. Just a great soundbar for the price. The only con that I found was the MOVIE and MUSIC button on the soundbar remote. I could not tell the difference between either one no matter what I was listening to , a movie or music channel .
Pros: Build Quality - Sound - Bass - Volume adjust - looks - voice adjustment
Cons: Music and Movie buttons
The MagniFi is definitely a powerful system. Great low end sound. However, like some other reviews, the treble tones (voice) need work. There is also a lack of information from the soundbar. What I mean is that everything is based on lights, there are no display. In the manual, it tells the user to visit the polk website for more information on what lights mean what... well, needless to say I went to their side, searched everywhere and nothing. I looked through the manual and support areas of the site and also nothing. One other deficiency would be settings memory i.e. if you were to lose power, all your settings/remote settings are gone. In the end, if you tweak your audio signal coming is correctly and adjust the polk soundbar just right, it sounds great.
The speakers are working well. But sometimes the volume goes down on it's own.
Pros: Much clearer voices and better sound
Cons: The volume goes down on its own.
I purchased the Polk Audio MagniFi from Crutchfleid with some apprehension, after returning a Klipsch R4B to a big box store because of connectivity problems with both the sound bar and remote. I am happy to report the Polk remote works in all its functions. Unlike the Klipsch, this sound bar has LED lights to indicate levels of adjustments and other controls. We were also able connect our IPhone through its Bluetooth, and major surprise, even connected after a couple tries with the TV and cable remotes. Based on what I have read this is not true of many sound bars. However, it takes patience and the Polk site video helps (Note- sound button on bar tagles both + up and - down). A chief reason for looking into sound bars was to improve dialogue and the Voice Adjust Technology does a great job. My wife can even understand the dialogue of Brits without subtitles. Obviously, music will not have the full quality of a high end audio system, but for the money it is more than exceptable. For us it has proved an excellent choice listening to TV and playing music from our I Phone.
Pros: Remote works well and bar connects to Bluetooth and TV and cable remotes. Adjustable voice control enhances dialogue as promised. The sound bar with wireless subwoofer offers clear and full volume music.
Cons: Minor - Print directions for "learning" TV and cable remotes could be clearer, but Polk site video offer needed clarity.
Love the sound! Center speaker for voice volume is great! However, I should have read the specs better to realize that it did not have a hdmi plug available just the optical cable.
I had high hopes for this product because of Polk's awesome reputation, but I was a bit disappointed. The sound bar and sub woofer are both attractive and looked great, but treble response has a muffled quality to it that I didn't care for. No way to adjust it. I returned mine and am investing more in a full 5.1 system.
Pros: Great bass response, easy to set up and get up and running.
Cons: Poor treble response
Sounds great with movies and most music. You have to adjust the settings a lot if you play acoustic music through the speaker though, the voice will echo due to the voice extraction speaker that this bar has.
Pros: Sound, cost, ease of purchase, ease of setup
Cons: Acoustic music
Freaked my wife out for Christmas, turned on TV and it blew her mind the quality of sound.( Now I'm a care giver) Easy setup should of purchased one years ago
Pros: easy setup great quality
Cons: instructions need tweaking
It was shipped and delivered exactly when we were told. Easy to install. It's like being at a movie theater in the privacy of our home. Definitely rate this 5 stars!
The sound is exceptional and the system was easy to connect to my new TV
Hard to compare without listening to others side-by-side; however, I am super pleased! This unit makes my 2016 Samsung KS8500 sound great. The highs are high and the lows are low (to the point that you must adjust it to your liking or it will sound too high and too low - plenty of range for various types of media and it is adjustable. Super easy to install EXCEPT, the instruction manual does a poor job at explaining how to synch its control to your ohter remotes; therefore at first I wasn't sure if the system worked right. A phone call to either Polk or Crutchfield was the answer. These guys walked me through the steps and walla; walked great. I say either Polk or Crutchfiled, as I chose to call Polk first, an later learned the guys at Crutchfield could have done the same. Interesting that both the Polk and Crutchfield people agree the manual needs to do a better job. Great sound, good looks in a tight place, at a modest price.
Cons: Instruction manual is poor for synching.
My basis of this review is coming from the research I did on soundbars and my past experience with soundbars systems. A big reason for purchasing a Polk audio product has been the great experience I've had with them in the past. The MagniFi soundbar has definitely met my expectations and then some. Several years ago I purchased a higher end Vizio soundbar that I've been using with a different TV setup. It worked well enough and I was impressed with the sound you could get out of it. I can tell you the Polk Magnifi soundbar puts it to shame. In addition to the sound quality the visual appearance of the Polk products is much better. Overall I'm happy with my purchase.
Wow, just what I needed. Due to age I have problems picking out the voice parts of my TV's Audio. The Voice feature of this sound bar caught my attention. A friend who is big into this stuff told me Polk is high quality so I bought it. What a Difference to my listening experience this sound bar has made as the audio on my TV has just been upgraded to "Great". My order was shipped super fast. Very happy customer.
I purchased this for one of our tv's and have it in a medium sized room. It comes with a remote that allows adjustment of volume for the soundbar, bass unit, and the dialog of what you are watching. At first it sounded a little "tinny" (too much high frequency) but I was able to adjust and it sounds very good. Enjoying it - much better than my tv speakers!
Pros: Good price Much improved tv sound
Easy to setup and sounds great - kudos to Crutchfield for the good pricing (and refunding me when it went on sale while shipping)
Sound is OK definitely an improvement over the system I had . However two negatives: You cannot add surround speakers to this system and the center voice speaker seems to only work with Dolby sound
Nice upgrade over the built in TV speakers. It was easy to hook-up and had a minimal visual impact (I did not tell my wife of the install and she did not even notice the sound bar sitting in from or the bass cabinet tucked away in the corner). Sound is pretty good once you get the hang of adjusting the settings. My complaints: the remote had the battery installed but no insulation so the battery was dead. The remote buttons seem to be reluctant to work, but since I'm using my Logitech Harmony remote no problem. The LED setup for system status is not my cup of tea. There appears to be no documentation to figure out what they mean. Seems like you could have something less cryptic. Finally the speaker seems to be sensitive to some remote commands to my TV (older SONY LED). I think there are ways to combat this but I have not tried them yet.
Pros: good sound, minimal visual impact
Cons: dodgy remote, cryptic system status
Took a while to set up under my TV, which is mounted on a stone fireplace, but once it was done, i was extremely happy with the sound quality and the adjustments for the voice and base. Yes, the remote is dinky, but I really don't need that many other controls on it anyway. Bluetooth for music is a nice feature. Feels like a dedicated sound system when i stream my Pandora music. Overall, the sound is excellent and would recommend the product, especially if you can get it during a sale/special.
Pros: Sound quality Subwoofer works well Voice adjustment
Cons: Small remote could be easy to lose
Awesome sound- easy installation- great price point. What's not to love and be happy about?
Pros: Easy installation Great sound
Easy to install, great sound at a great price.
Pros: Great sound Great price Easy to install Super quick delivery
Cons: Remote control is very small.
Polk makes a good product. I like the controls for bass as well as for voice. Especially when you get that low volume actor with an accent you just can't hear well enough to make out. Easy set up. No wires running around the room and under carpets to hook up speakers. It would be nice to have a manual which actually suggested ways to enhance use of the system. But you will figure it out. Obviously not the top of the line for home theatre experience. But plenty powerful and excellent quality for a system the price.
Average sound quality. Needs more bass response.
Pros: Easy setup. Low profile.
Cons: Needs more bass response.
Got my Polk Audio MagniFi Sound Bar unpacked, and it was plug and play and working perfectly in less than 20 minutes! The voice enhancer feature works wonderfully, and I'm really mad at myself for not spending the money for this a long time ago!!! The sound system simply "ROCKS"... This bad boy is fantastic, and I can hear what the actors are saying without constantly rewinding and changing the sound settings... I'm in L-O-V-E!!! Money well spent! Thank you Polk, and Crutchfield!!!
Pros: Simple to connect. Plug and play.
Amazing value. I was hesitant to go with a sound bar but this system has surpassed all my expectations.
Pros: Amazing sound quality. Especially the dialogue enhancement.
Cons: Not a problem for my use, but you should be aware that it only has two inputs; optical and mini jack.
It was a little more difficult to set up than I expected, and its input types are more limited than many other soundbars...however, the sound is outstanding and the dialogue enhancement makes a huge difference.
Blue tooth works good if your close by (10 feet or less), but when connected works great. excellent audio quality - really makes the movies comes to life !!
Pros: Loud, clear, easy to set up and use, great base.
Cons: zip -- the unit has very specific connections (digital/optical or jack - NO HDMI) The optical works perfect if you TV has this option.
Super easy set up right out of the box, and the sound is great. Wanted another speaker, got this and moved a Samsung sound stand to another room. The sound from the magnifi is so much more full, has nice clarity for dialogue, and deep base. Love it!
Pros: Easy set up with nice, full sound
Cons: None for me!
This is a nice sound bar for the price. It has two controls, one for volume and one for dialogue which I find very useful. Bluetooth connected without any trouble. The sound bar isn't intrusive due to small height (have it sitting on my cabinet, TV mounted on the wall above). Overall a very good buy for the price - I bought this on sale.
Pros: Easy to setup. One control for volume and another for dialogue. Bluetooth connected seamlessly with iPhone. Small in size - doesn't take up much space.
Cons: None so far.
Room filling sound from a small sound bar. Wanted something better than tin can back firing TV speakers. I didnt want to add full blown system. (have that in Theater Room) Polk MagnaFi sound bar does a great job with separate sub woofer giving sound depth. Setup is easy just make sure you are set on the correct source. Had issue programing TV remote but once I realized I had on wrong source, all went smooth and easy.
Pros: Sound and Clarity
After trying the cheaper Sony version I upgraded to this sound bar. After trying the cheaper Sony version I upgraded to this sound bar. Having trouble with the clarity of dialogue, as I have hearing loss, I was looking for a sound bar that would bring out the dialogue this sound bar is great for the price
Pros: As stated above
nice compact unit, sound is good for the money. i do not like the remote however. the receiver has to have a clear line of sight to work and you have to be too close, very annoying. I could mount it on the wall and maybe have a better chance but it would be obtrusive then so not an option. needs an rf remote
Pros: compact, easy setup
Cons: remote marginal
Love it easy to set up sounds great
Works as advertised
Pros: Easy setup easy to work
Cons: When switching from TV to movies sound needs to be adjusted. Way to loud on switchover.
Connecting this piece of sound was a breeze, 10 minutes and mounted and ready to play. Wireless subwoofer definitely needs to be placed on wooden floor (big difference over carpeted area). Sub connects within 5 seconds of powering up, love the ease of setup.
Pros: - Sound bar has clear sound and bass. - Looks good under a 45" to 55" TV - Connects via Bluetooth with mobile phones to play music during workout. - PS4 Games comes to life with sound (I think I missed out a lot without good sound/base)
Cons: none so far ... amazing sound for the price. Takes a little use switching between options (Bluetooth device or TV input)
called crutchfield and asked for advice on what soundbar i should consider. well they recommended this polk magnifi bar and just now hooked it up, easy to do. but what surprised me is the sound emitted from this bar. Outstanding sound. i have hardwood floors maybe that helps but all i'm going to say if anyone put a negative toward this bar either their hearing is off. we absolutely love this soundbar and recommend it 125%. thanks crutchfield
Pros: easy setup, great sound
Great little soundbar, connects easily....It sounds very nice, & the sub has very good bass for it's size....I wanted to get rid of the wires, & was OK with a little less power...If you are used to a powerful surround sound system, this will not be as loud or as powerful, so be aware of that ...The Bluetooth is Great for streaming music! The music sound is very rich & sounds killer....Might sound better than the TV audio even...I am very happy with it overall..nice unit...
Pros: Great looking, nice size, No Wires, & streams audio incredibly well...
Cons: Not as powerful as a surround system, but that is the trade off w/ soundbars...Also a small remote....Buy an extra as there's a good chance you will lose this one.....
like the choices on this bar
Pros: good sound
Easy to put together. Although it is wireless, I set mine up as hard wire. Bluetooth easy to use, some sports broadcasting can be harder to hear, so adjustment of the sound (especially the talking feature on remote plus bass) may need to occur. I have an older hard wire polk soundbar (bigger in size, needs a receiver, about 6 years old), sounds better, but for the ease of use and size reduction, this one is worth it. If you are hard core sound for music, this might not sound as optimal. The bass is great sound on our hardwood floors. Carpet muffles the sound.
Pros: Very easy install and pairing with bluetooth
Cons: Music may sound not as clear, but movies, TV proram good sound, and Sporting events need adjustment with remote sound features (which is very easy to use)
Clean lines; easy set up
This sound bar improved the Hitachi TV speakers for music and movie sounds, but not sure about voice dialogue. Still tinkering with adjusting TV sound (seems to work better with "soft mute" status) to avoid "echoing" effects. Maybe need to place sub-woofer away from front of TV? Voice adjustment doesn't seem to make much difference with the echo-like effect.
Pros: easy to install, slim & small design.
Cons: fine-tuning the sound options and mix with TV sound hasn't been easy. Perhaps the on-line manual will help?
The most difficult step during the installation process was unboxing the product. Excellent replacement for the amp and speakers I had used with the TV and DVD player. Sub was easy to hide and the soundbar fit nicely in front of the TV. The sound was far better than I expected.
Pros: easy installation, excellent sound performance
Cons: slightly higher priced, but worth it
Excellent sound quality for a bar. I Needed improved sound from flat screen TV. Dialog clarity is much improved and I like the ability to control volume of dialog separately. Bass from sub-woofer is added plus for movies.
Pros: easy to install. good range of high-quality sound. Perfect for improving sound from TV. Easy to sync ATT Uverse remote control
After a renovation we ended up with very few walls to hang speakers on. We have a big fireplace with a 70" TV on top and 4" space from the mantle to the bottom of the TV. This sound bar fit perfect. The sound is better than I expected. It's very easy to use as it's always in stand by mode and starts to work when the TV is on. installation was very simple.
Pros: Low profile. Easy installation. Very good sound
Over all great product in all 5 categories
Pros: I was pleasantly surprised by the great sound for music ,movies and dialogue and easy to use.
Cons: Did not find any.
The sound quality of this unit is quite impressive - this after trying out a few different sound bar options. The ability to regulate the voice portion of the dynamic eq range is a very nice feature and essential to this type of unit in order to ensure vocals have sufficient clarity. I would give this 5 stars except the unit occasionally resets inadvertently, necessitating the re-programming of our remote. It's not a huge deal, but a bit of a pain. Other than this inconvenience I think this is about the best you can buy for the money.
Pros: Great sound clarity. Covers the full spectrum of frequency range very impressively for its price and size. Fantastic value at this price point. Bluetooth is simple to use.
Cons: Occasionally freezes, requiring a reset and re-programming of the remote.
This appears to be a quality system. No issues with connectivity and set-up. I have not watched a movie or listened to music, so I have not rated those items. Works great watching television, but needs some fine tuning for some programs. I rated the system with 4 stars just because of the small remote. It doesn't seem to have the power of my U-Verse remote, meaning I have to make sure that I point the remote accurately
Pros: Great sound (only rated television watching) and easy set up. Remote controls base and center speaker, which are pluses. Might want to locate the soundbar where it can be accessed for using the control on the top of the unit.
Cons: Wish it had a more substantial remote. The one that comes with it does the job, but it could be better. I need to see if I can program my U-Verse remote to control the soundbar.
Needed a simple solution to my sound needs!
Pros: Easy to install and hook up. Nice clear sound. Like how you can turn up just the voice portion of the sound. Wireless AMP works good. Turns on automatically with smart TV. Good value for the price. Went with the scratch and dent.
Cons: For the money I can't find anything bad to say about this product. It does a good job!
Very easy to connect - Both optical and bluetooth connections. Sound was decent overall. But I had to try 4 different places around my living room to find a place for the subwoofer where it didn't sound terrible. The connection to my Samsung TV was finicky. You had to turn the soundbar off before turning the TV off. If you didn't do that, you had to unplug the soundbar to reset it before it would work again. The soundbar seems to just freeze up and no buttons on the remote or top of the soundbar would work. I think I'm going to send it back for that reason. I want to try a different brand to see if it works better with my TV.
Pros: Decent sound. Quick Setup.
Cons: Finicky when paired with a Samsung TV. Lots of trial and error with Sub placement to find proper sound balance. Freezes and you have to unplug before it will work again.
As a long time Polk user, I was excited to find out about this soundbar, especially for the voice adjustment feature. It was purchased for my bedroom, approx. 15x15'. However, I found the sound to be hollow and dull. It had absolutely no presence whatsoever. In addition, the subwoofer sounded tubby, even when I tried it in 4 different locations. The vocal adjustment had to be turned up to the maximum to make anything sound somewhat presentable. Bluetooth was very easy to set up. I see the other reviews are enthusiastic, so YMMV. To say I'm disappointed is an understatement.
Pros: Small and stylish. Easy to set up.
Cons: Sound quality.
I have had this Polk sound bar for about two weeks and it is absolutely amazing. The voice is crisp and clear for sports, news and those TV's shows that are over-scored with background music that often made the dialogue hard to hear. The subwoofer gives great depth to the action movies - it completely fills my 15 x 20 viewing room with plenty of power. The Bluetooth connection set-up for streaming music is quick and easy.. This is the entire package, you won't be disappointed.
Pros: Nice styling, compact unit with lots of power for large rooms, easy set up and solid - no flimsy cheap plastic packaging. Provides the great sound quality that Polk is known for .
Cons: Wish it had an option to equalize the audio when the commercials come on at those annoyingly loud levels.. You have to manually ride the volume down to prevent from getting blown out of the room.
I have had this soundbar system for over a month now. The audio performance is simply amazing. Combined with the wireless subwoofer, the sound fills the 15x18 room that it is in. I was a little worried about not getting a true surround sound, but, the performance of this 2.1 system took away any concern I may have had. Both movie and music performance really stand out making the Polk MagniFi the perfect choice for a clean installation with good looks and exceptional performance. You will not go wrong with this system. The bar was easily set-up and Bluetooth connectivity is as simple as it gets. The system is working seamlessly with each device with no problems thus far. Kudos to Crutchfield for helping me select this system. Their customer service has been exceptional.
Pros: Great sounding high and lows with amazing vocal clarity makes this system a perfect choice for both movies and music.
Cons: Control buttons are on top of soundbar, so, leave plenty of room for access between the TV and bar if mounting on a wall.
This soundbar gives great, rich, room filling sound. Listened to Klipsh SB-1, Onkyo LS-B50 and Bose Solo. Comparing with the Bose Solo may have been a bit unfair as it doesn't have a sub but the Polk easily sounded the best out of all. The features I liked best about this product is how the voices have their on volume controls and the slim design. The day after I set it up I went out to wash the car and my wife synced up her phone to play some music. When I got back she said she had turned it up pretty loud and was like WOW! that sounds really good!! She never gets excited about that kind of stuff. So there you have it, electronics nerd tested, and wife approved.
Pros: Slim design. Easy setup.
Cons: some other soundbars around this price point have smartphone apps so you can use your phone as a remote. Would have been nice to have but wasn't a deal breaker.

Active Soundbar Speaker: The Polk Audio Magnifi soundbar speaker houses three 3" x 1" full-range drivers powered by a built-in 150 watt amplifier. The soundbar's critically tuned ports provide optimum blending of the full-range drivers with the included wireless powered sub. The Magnifi soundbar speaker employs two of Polk's proprietary technologies for exceptional performance.
Wireless Powered Sub: The wireless powered subwoofer features a down-firing 7" woofer and port in compact Bass Reflex enclosure. The 7" woofer is powered by a built-in 150 watt amplifier. The powered subwoofer receives it audio signal wirelessly (up to 50') from the system's soundbar, so there is no subwoofer cable to connect. If you prefer, a wired connection (3.5mm) can be used. You can adjust the volume of the sub independently from the system's overall volume.
Analog + Digital Connectivity: The Polk Audio Magnifi soundbar system provides both analog (3.5mm) and digital (optical) connectivity for a variety of source components.
Note: The digital optical output terminals of most newer flat-panel TVs only send an audio signal in 5.1ch when receiving Dolby Digital/DTS surround sound from the TV's built-in tuner, network connection, or connected USB device; and will output only 2ch stereo from sources connected to the TV via HDMI, or RCA (like your Blue-ray/DVD player or satellite/cable box).
Bluetooth Audio Streaming: The Polk Audio Magnifi soundbar system supports Bluetooth A2DP which allows you to wirelessly stream audio from your Bluetooth-enabled Apple iPod/iPhone/iPad, Android smartphone/tablet, Blackberry, laptop/computer, etc.. You'll be able to stream stored music or music apps from your Bluetooth-enabled device to the soundbar speaker system. You will continue to your Bluetooth-enable mobile device for music navigation and to view song/artist information.
Note: Due to the differences in Bluetooth technology, some Bluetooth enabled devices may be incompatible, function improperly, or may not support all features when used with the Polk Audio Magnifi soundbar speaker system.
DJ Stream App: Download the free DJ Stream app onto your Apple iOS (6.0+) or Android (4.0+) device from the Apple App Store or GooglePlay Store for Party Mode. Now, up to 4 friends (1 host/3 guests) can create their own playlist from the music stored on their device and play their music through the Polk Magnifi soundbar speaker system. Only one playlist can be active at a time, The "Host" has the ability to select which playlist is active and control the music from his or her device. Up to 128 friends can be connected via the app to vote on songs from the 4 connected playlists.
Note: Your Apple iOS or Android device will need an active Bluetooth connection to the Polk Audio Magnifi soundbar speaker system.
Remote Control: The included IR remote control provides wireless operation of the system. You can also program the Magnifi soundbar speaker system to respond to your TV's remote.
Mounting Options: The soundbar speaker should be centered under or above your flat-panel TV screen. The lightweight easy-to-mount single speaker can be placed on a tabletop or wall-mounted. It can sit on a flat surface because of its integrated rubber feet that enable it to rest securely. If your TV is wall-mounted, the soundbar can be mounted right beneath it using the speaker's integrated keyhole slots (x2) on the rear-panel. The keyhole slots are spaced 28.625" apart. The powered subwoofer receives its signal from the soundbar wirelessly, so it can be placed virtually anywhere in the room (up to 50' from soundbar). It only requires plugging into an AC outlet.
