About the Infinity Reference REF-6530cx

Classic components

One thing's for sure — our customers love Infinity's Reference Series speakers. Year after year, car after car, options like this Reference Series REF-6530cx 6-1/2" component speaker system remain a popular choice for replacing factory speakers because of their competitive pricing and superb sound.

Classic components

One thing's for sure — our customers love Infinity's Reference Series speakers. Year after year, car after car, options like this Reference Series REF-6530cx 6-1/2" component speaker system remain a popular choice for replacing factory speakers because of their competitive pricing and superb sound.

Edge-driven dome tweeters

With this component system, you'll gain exceptional clarity and imaging, thanks to separate 3/4" edge-driven textile dome tweeters that subdue any harshness in the high-frequency range. Infinity includes external crossovers that give you push-button tweeter attenuation for a "brightness" quick fix.

Bigger woofers

The Reference Series polypropylene woofer with its durable hi-roll rubber surround ensures you'll enjoy powerful sound every mile you drive. Its oversized cone moves more air than other speakers of similar size, adding plenty of punch to the speaker's impressive performance.

Bring on the power

You can power these speakers with up to 90 watts of RMS power — they'll work well with an external amplifier, but they're also a good match for a factory radio or aftermarket stereo. Plus, these 3-ohm speakers combine with the speaker wire in your vehicle so your car stereo sees actual 4-ohm impedance, so you get a little more volume out of your system.

2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

I installed these speakers in the front of my 2017 Jeep Wrangler currently being powered by an after market Pioneer headunit. Eventually plan on adding an amp so I wanted a set of speakers that could handle the power. These sound very good even when just powered by the headunit. I fully expect them to really come alive when I add the amp. Install was fairly simple -- but did have to find a place to mount the crossover. I'd recommend these for sure.... great upgrade to my jeep.

Pros: Sound quality

Cons: Crossovers are BIG

These speakers produce clear, clean sound. Not too difficult to install, but the instructions were not helpful. I called the expert hot line and did not get advise that was useful. He was very nice and eager to help, but in the end his advise did not fit my needs. I had to but tools to do a custom fit as the backets that were included were of no use. After a lot of effort, Youtube, and practical experience, I was able to get the speakers installed. Buy the pry tool kit. It helps not to break your doors to get things removed. The rear speakers 6532 reference were a snap to install.

Pros: Sound and quality of the speakers. Made a stock Chevy radio sound great.

Cons: Installation instructions are just a few pictures with options. The vehicle specific instructions no real practical help. Appliances provided were not used because they did not fit my truck

Pros: Can feel like you have some of the best compared to lot of the junk systems you hear out here . even the junk one's right down the street perhaps.

Bought these to replace my older Polk Audio speakers. They are paired with the Kenwood DNX691HD receiver and powered by an Alpine (MRX-V70) amp. Installed these in my 2002 Chevy Tahoe and love the clean crisp sound at all volume levels. The highs and mids are much better than the previous speakers. These were installed in the front doors and the Infinity Reference REF-6532EX 6-1/2" 2-way Speakers were installed in the rear doors. Absolutely love these speakers.

Pros: Clear and Crisp Sound

Cons: None

Great all around speaker. Will probably give 5 stars once I amp them up and throw in the tweeters. Tested the tweeters out but havent flush mounted yet, but I'm sure it'll be a breeze with the detailed instructions they sent.

Pros: Need to be amped up

Cons: Might need help if you're new to this.

Speakers sound great! I'm not a orofessional installer so I'm only rating the speakers themselves but they come with super long screws that may be too much for the doors you are putting them in. Consider getting your own mounting screws.

Picked these up on a great sale at an excellent price. This is my first set of Infinity reference speakers. I replaced the front factory Bose speakers in my 06 Cadillac Escalade and they sound great. Using the factory head unit and amp. Also added a sub to it. What a difference. Now I have to replace the rear speakers too. These sound so good over the factory rears. You can really hear the difference.

Pros: Great sounding set of speakers. The highs are awesome and clear at any volume

Cons: None so far!

I got these on a Black Friday special at an excellent price. These are my second set of Infinity reference. Just like before, they are nice quality all around both in looks and in sound. Still wish they had a little more power, but that is more an issue with the amp/setup than with these speakers. Just a shame they get covered up inside the doors.

Pros: nice quality, good looking and sounding set of speakers. Great Black Friday price too!

How a novice puts together a quality system for a Jeep Wrangler

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

Installed these speakers as replacements for my factory OEM speakers in the dash panel. Tweeters were included. Originally I was going to use what most people are using in their Jeeps for replacements......Kickers. After speaking with Mac, he put me on track with a much better set of speakers. Loving the change. Can't wait for the next phase of my upgrade. Mac set me up with a complete system, made sure I had everything I need to do a clean, professional installation. His advice was worth a million to me. It cost me nothing. I'm not a professional, and would have probably copied someone else's system from a Jeep Forum. Glad I didn't. Mac put together a system for me based on my vehicle, and my music preferences. I'd have never been able to do that. What I learned from Mac is that just because something is touted as the "latest/greatest thing", doesn't mean it's going to work well with all of your other equipment. Like most electronics, they need to play well together. The other invaluable thing I got was step by step directions for my particular vehicle and system. Not generic directions that have no semblance to my application. If you're a non-pro like myself, give Mac a call. He'll hook you up.

Pros: -Crazy fast shipping -Top quality parts -Great customer service and response time.

Cons:

Wow, this is a significant improvement over my factory speakers, which were the Bose premium sound system speakers. Excellent base and clear mid and highs.

Clean and refined sound, lacking bass

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

I expected a little more from these speakers. My factory speakers had much lower bass response, but these are much more crisp with less muddled sound. As these were my first speakers to ever put in my car, installation was hard. I did have to call Infinity customer support and they weren't very helpful. I had asked them which wire was the input that was supposed to go to the crossover and they couldn't tell me. They did tell me it was one (of the four) from the mid range woofer but couldn't specify which one. At that point I said thank you and started trying to figure things out myself. I ended up attaching the wiring harness included with my order and running wire connections from that to the cross over then from the crossover back to the mid range and tweeters. This ended up working, but goodness did it take a while to figure out. I couldn't find anything on the internet about it. For the tweeters on this, none of the included adapters fit. I ordered 2 back straps and didn't use them. I shaved down part of the factory enclosure to allow the tweeter to fit which makes it look factory. The mid range speaker install was much easier. All in all it was a great learning experience and I'll be more prepared for my next install.

Pros: Got them on sale, big upgrade from factory speakers, loud

Cons: Installation, lack of bass

Woofers

Plus One+ Woofer Cones: Each speaker uses a larger cone than other speakers of the same size. This is accomplished by using a unique basket design and hi-roll surround. The Plus One+ design offers greater bass output and an increase in efficiency.

Hi-roll Rubber Surrounds: The hi-roll rubber surrounds allow the woofers a greater range of movement, resulting in longer X-max and more bass output.

Mounting: Without an adapter, the 6530cx woofers fit standard 6-3/4" applications. Given their required cutout, they will also fit 6-1/2" applications without an adapter, but new screw holes must be drilled. Using the included adapter brackets they can be mounted in a wide variety of 6-1/2" and 6-3/4" applications, without any modification.

Tweeters

Material: Each tweeter features a 3/4" edge-driven textile dome for smooth, accurate highs.

Mounting: The I-Mount tweeter mounting system and Starfish mounting brackets give you several different ways to mount the tweeters:

  • I-Mount: The tweeters can be surface- or flush-mounted with Infinity's innovative I-Mount system:
    • Surface Mount: Surface mounting the tweeters involves screwing the surface-mount cup to the mounting location, then inserting and locking the tweeter into the cup.
    • Flush Mount: Flush mounting is made easy through the use of the threaded flush-mount housing and plastic locking nut. Once a cutout is made, the tweeter is installed in the flush-mount adapter, then into the flush mount housing and inserted into the hole. The large plastic locking nut is threaded onto the adapter (from behind the mounting surface) to hold the complete assembly securely in place. When flush mounted, the tweeters may be angled for optimum response and imaging.
  • Starfish Mounting Brackets: The Starfish mounting brackets allow the tweeters to be installed in factory locations behind the grilles:
    • Bottom Mount: Once the Starfish bracket is trimmed, it is secured to the underside of the grille panel. The tweeter must be inserted into the bracket and locked into place before the bracket is mounted.
    • Surface Mount: Once the Starfish bracket is trimmed, it is screwed to the top of the mounting surface behind the grille panel. Then, the tweeter is inserted into the bracket and locked into place.
    • Flush Mount: There are two sets of tabs to flush mount the tweeter in the Starfish bracket, yielding different mounting dimensions. The upper tabs mount the tweeter completely below the opening and are glued in place. The lower mounting tabs are screwed in place and result in a mounting height just under a half inch. Once the bracket is mounted, the tweeter is inserted into the bracket and locked into place.

Dimensions:

Cutout Diameter N/A 1.581" N/A N/A 1.504" 1.257"

Crossovers

Selectable Tweeter Output Level: Each 2-way crossover allows you to select the tweeter output level according to system requirements and personal preference; the tweeter level can be set to +3 dB or 0 dB.

Connections: The crossover inputs and outputs are screw terminals; they will accommodate bare wire or spade connectors up to 0.3" wide. There are four mounting holes in each crossover.

Dimensions:

  • Width: 4"
  • Height: 1-1/8"
  • Depth: 3-1/4" (plus wire)

Specifications

High-Output Design: The 3Ω voice coil design compensates for the high in-line resistance of small gauge factory wiring, extracting more power from factory (or aftermarket) receivers. This results in clearer, richer sound for the listener.
