One thing's for sure — our customers love Infinity's Reference Series speakers. Year after year, car after car, options like these Reference Series REF-6532ix 6-1/2" car speakers remain a popular choice for replacing factory speakers because of their competitive pricing and superb sound.

Enhanced highs

Step up to a 1" edge-driven dome tweeter for smoother highs with minimal breakup. Plus, push-button tweeter attenuation gives you a "brightness" quick fix.

Plus One+ woofer cone

The Reference Series polypropylene woofer with its durable hi-roll rubber surround ensures you'll enjoy powerful sound every mile you drive. Its oversized cone moves more air than other speakers of similar size, adding plenty of punch to the speaker's impressive performance.

Excellent power-handling

These speakers will really blossom when powered by an external amplifier, but they're also sensitive enough to be a good match for a factory or aftermarket stereo. Plus, Infinity comes up with a safe way to get a little more power out of your system — these 3-ohm speakers combine with the speaker wire in your car so your car stereo sees actual 4-ohm impedance.

Features

Plus One+ Woofer Cones: Each speaker uses a cone larger than other speakers of the same size. This is accomplished by using a unique basket design and hi-roll surround. The Plus One+ design offers greater bass output and an increase in efficiency.

Angled Tweeter: The tweeters are mounted at an angle (fixed), so they can be directed toward the listeners to improve imaging.

Tweeter Level Control: A switch on the front of the tweeter allows you to boost the tweeter output to +3dB, useful if the speakers are mounted low in a door where high frequencies are easily absorbed.

High-Output Design: The 3Ω voice coil design compensates for the high in-line resistance of small gauge factory wiring, extracting more power from factory (or aftermarket) receivers.

Mounting: Without an adapter, the 6532ix speakers fit standard 6-3/4" applications. Given their required cutout, they will also fit 6-1/2" applications without an adapter, but new screw holes must be drilled. Using the included adapter brackets they can be mounted in a variety of 6-1/2" and 6-3/4" applications, without any modification. Please enter your vehicle information to confirm fit.

Q
Hooked up to a amp should the amp be set to hpf or full range?

My amp was set at full range.

If this is the only set of speakers in your system, set the amp to full range. If you are using other (larger) speakers to handle the bass frequencies, set the amp to HPF (high-pass filter) for the output that feeds these speakers. The HPF setting will restrict the bass going to these speakers, which is good for a couple of reasons. First, it prevents the harmonic distortion that might result from feeding high-power low bass frequencies to this fairly small speaker, and potential damage to the woofer cones and voice coils. Second, it prevents phase problems in the bass frequencies, where the signal from this speaker might partially cancel the bass frequencies from a larger speaker in your system. Third, it reduces potential intermodulation distortion that might "muddy" the sound of the mid and high frequencies from this speaker. Hope this helps!

If NOT using a sub, then set to full range. If you have sub, then use HPF and use a x-over point no lower than about 100 HZ for best results. With sub, there is no reason to make amp and 6.5" speaker try to produce low bass they simply cannot make much of. That will clean up your highs with less distortion, and they will play louder too.

For my setup with a Kenwood head unit, I set the amp for full range and then played with crossover points on the head unit.

Q
What size are the voice coils on these and the 5.25s of this model? I can't find the information anywhere

Typical VC size on all 6.5" is between 1" to 1.5" unless it is a particularly high performance (read that, competition) model, where they may be as much as 2 to 2.5". Frankly, the diameter of the voice coil isn't that important; the more important features of the vc are type of magnet wire used and bobbin material - also if it is edge wound, vented pole piece or other high performance tricks to improve heat dissipation and lower distortion. The magnet material and shape also play a substantial role in vc perfromance as well (neodymium vs ordinary magnet material and vc overhang or Xmax (Thiele-Small parameters - Maximum linear peak, or sometimes peak-to-peak excursion). I wouldn't get caught up in vc size so much....This driver uses a pretty nice motor assy and is fairly compact for its high performance.

We do not have the measurements on the speakers' voice coils and recommend contacting Infinity by calling 800-553-3332 to see if they can provide that information

I installed Infinity speakers in my 2018 Nissan Leaf. Original speakers were of super bad quality. I am glad that I installed infinity speakers. The difference is night and day. I would totally recommend these.

Q
I have a 2002 Jeep Liberty (limited edition, 4d) and I want to replace the 2 exiting front infinity speakers with the Infinity Reference REF-6532IX. My 2 front exiting speakers have amps attached to them. Do you know if I'm able to fit the REF-6532IX with existing amps? If not, how do i by pass the amp in the way that my tweeters and the other back passengers' speakers would still work.

According to our research file on that Liberty you can fit those Infinity Reference speakers and connect them to the existing Infinity wiring. We don't have wire connectors so you will need to cut and splice the factory wiring. The tweeter are wired in parallel with the door speakers and are both getting a full-range signal.
