Great upgrade for 2002 Ranger extended cab!

John from Nicholasville, KY on 5/31/2019

2002 Ford Ranger

Great sound for the price. Crutchfield send the connectors to match with the factory speaker connectors and the speaker terminals. These fit perfectly for the front and rear 2002 Ranger Edge, extended cab. After adjusting the EQ on the Pioneer DEH-S5120BT that I bought from Crutchfield a couple of years ago they are a very nice upgrade from the factory Ford speakers.

Pros: Great sound. Easy to install.

Good Enough Speakers

2008 Mazda Mazdaspeed3

Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

I recently purchased these for my 2008 Mazdaspeed 3 & what I can say is these are pretty good speakers for the price, now I have these paired with my Eonon GA9151b Android deck which has built in amps now too much bass over powers these speakers easily & start sounding muddy, it took some messing around with EQ setting on my iPhone since I do a lot of Bluetooth listening along with some fine tuning the EQ setting on the the stereo deck itself & we've come to a balanced crisp clear sound with just the right amount of bass! The transaction was a breeze & shipping was super fast thanks guys!

Pros: Price is good & with some work these could be made to sound great!

Cons: Easily over powered with too much bass & start sounding muddy.

Bought for my 2016 ford super duty. Speakers were super easy to install. Mounts matched fords stock ones exactly. As for the sound they are a little warmer sound and not quite as loud as the stocks but definitely are better than the stock ones overall. Recommended for a good replacement at the cost of these.

Pros: Easy install. Warm sound. Priced fair.

Cons: A little quieter than the stock speakers

Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

For clarification, I'm not a speaker reviewer pro, but the highs are definitely better than the stock models they replaced in my F-150. They didn't help the bottom end any...I actually thought the stock speakers did better, but that's probably because they need either more power behind them or be paired with a sub, which in either case won't be happening with my setup. Bottom line, I like them, I'm keeping them.

Pros: Fit factory F-150 mounts perfectly Crisp highs

Cons: So-so bottom end (probably need more power behind them)

Easy to install and a complete upgrade over the factory OEM speakers. Clear, precise highs, with accompanying good bass. Sure, they are not top-end but for the price they will upgrade almost any factory sound system.

Pros: Affordable, quick install.

Cons: Not the deepest bass, but very good.

Just got these and got them installed in my 2004 F150 Supercrew in about an hour. If anyone says they don't sound better than the stock speakers they are flat out lying!!! For the price point these are awesome speakers and I highly recommend them. They are not $200 a pair speakers but definitely did the trick. Thanks Crutchfield!

Pros: Easy install process. Much better sound than factory speakers.

Cons: None so far

Pro Tip!

Jay from Houston, TX on 7/9/2018

1997 Ford Ranger

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

In addition to all the nice things I had to say about these speakers in my review, there is one more detail worth noting. In the frame are two wire hold-downs. These are absolutely perfect for securing the specific harness adapters for your vehicle in place. This eliminates any motion or strain that could create a poor connection. It also virtually eliminates any possibility of the harness rattling from lack of constraint. The wire holder should be lifted with gentle pressure with just a fingernail, the wires slid underneath and gently pressed down until the speaker wires no longer easily slide back and forth. The description both here and on the Kenwood website is wrong. The surrounds are Polyfoam and NOT treated cloth.

Perfect replacement speakers

Jay from Houston, TX on 7/8/2018

1997 Ford Ranger

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

These speakers are far better than the OEM speakers they replaced. These are a perfect fit for my Ranger. The low end is beefier and the tweeters produce very adequate tone in the upper end. The poly cones and surrounds have the advantage of being weather resistant while the original factory speakers will fall apart when exposed to moisture and other elements. These produce the best sound you could expect at this price.

Pros: Absolutely perfect when replacing Ford OEM speakers.

Cons: None. Care must be taken to align the speaker properly as the screw hole surrounds are precisely fitted to the Ford/Mazda OEM screws. The result is a rattle-free installation with no possibility that the speakers will shift possition over time.

These are installed in a 2002 Ford Ranger extended cab. They are a direct bolt-in swap for both front and rear with no issues or problems whatsoever. I'm using four of these with a Kenwood Excelon KDC-X502 stereo and a Kenwood sub, all of which are miles beyond what came from the factory. They are a great little speaker with good range and good volume (no extra amp). I'm still in the 'dialing in' phase, but so far they sound excellent.

Cons: None

Cleaned up the sound in my wife's 2006 Escape. Perfect fit, and super easy install with the free pigtails supplied by Crutchfield. Right now they are just being pushed by a Kenwood head unit. Adding an amp would really wake these speakers up! Happy wife, happy life!

Needed some fresh sound for my aging F150 (2011) Super Cab. Not interested in the pain of adding an amp, read up on high DB with low watt head ends and while these were new, the predecessor versions had good reviews so I took a shot. Great Sound! I'm an old 80's dark wave music listener and these really brought out the highs and lows of the synth stuff without the boom of an amped system. I like to hear my music not feel like my windows are gonna fall out. For the price these are great. My 14 yr old son installed them for me as I just had a shoulder surgery. I walked him thru all 4 doors and I would say we done inside an hour.

Pros: Great sound, clear crisp with just enough bass even off the stock head end.

Cons: None so far.

Customer Q&A

1 question already asked

Q
What is a PEI tweeter ?
[ Mario  Aug 20, 2018 ]
1 answer
A
Polyetherimide, also known as PEI, Polyethermide, or Polyimide, is a very common polymer used for a variety of products. Its lightweight, shape-retaining properties, and high-temperature handling make it a good, reasonably-priced option for tweeter material.
