Scosche 70-1720 Receiver Wiring Harness
Martin from Tucson, AZ on 7/5/2017
2001 Acura Integra
Not a lot to say - it plugged perfectly into the factory harness, and the wire colours matched the Pioneer stereo I was installing, making the wiring super easy. It was a very nice touch (not to mention saving me a few minutes and some minor bother) that they had already cut the last half inch of insulation and slid it up just a hair, meaning I only had to strip the ends of the head unit's wires.
Pros: Fits Wire colours matched up Wires come with the insulation pre-cut, just slide the ends off Free! (thanks Crutchfield!)

For a 1998 Acura Integra, this worked fine. Just wish I didn't have to do the soldering or capping. It's a tedious error prone procedure. Why don't people sell these harness pre-wired?
Pros: It works.
Cons: Colours to match confusing when dealing with the head unit vs this harness. Tedious to attach.

Disappointed
Cris from San Lorenzo, CA on 9/2/2016
1999 Acura 2.3CL
I purchased this harness for my 1999 Acura CL. The harness fits like a glove. However the wiring doesn't match any of the speaker wiring on the car. The only wires that matched were the red, black and yellow. I ended up using an amplifier to hooked up the front and rear speakers. It's too bad I couldn't return it for a refund because I soldered the wires and end up cutting the soldered end.

I can't imagine life without this wiring harness. In fact, we bonded during installation and I named him "George." It was with a very palpable sense of unease that I sealed poor George behind the radio in the dashboard. I will always appreciate his sacrifice as I listen to music in the car.
Pros: Metal-core wires allow for soldering with actual solder. No chewing gum and tape here!
Cons: Poor George! I will miss you!

Excellent product.
Karl from colorado springs, CO on 2/22/2016
1997 Honda CRV
I have not had the opportunity to use other wiring harnesses so I have no comparisons. However, the supplied harness is certainly adequate for the job. The wiring ends are precut and no wire strippers are necessary. The wires are color coded and have the description of the function printed on the wire so that a mistake is not made in connecting the wire to its complement of the stereo harness. Each wire is also identified by color and function in the downloaded Crutchfield wiring diagram which did not identify all of the necessary wires in the diagram but did so in the description. There was no problem in attaching the adapter to the car. The harness is free with a stereo purchase, a plus for buying a car stereo from Crutchfield..
Pros: Prestripped wiring ends. A description of the wire function is printed on each wire. Easy to verify each wire by its position on the adapter which was easy to attach to the factory adapter.

Great quality wiring harness. Higher gauge wires for power, etc. Wire insulation pre-trimmed with tips prevent fraying. Only wish that the stripping were a tiny bit longer so it would be easier to tie cables together for soldering. Great product
Pros: Great quality Easy to install
Cons: Short amount of insulation pre-stripped. Needed to strip off an additional .25in for soldering & heat shrink wrapping

Good pigtail! It was easy to use and install. However I would suggest using butt connectors instead of solder.
Pros: Good item.
Cons: The writing on the wires is a little hard to read. The instructions say use solder, but the butt connectors (get the red ones) are easier and neater.

This is why I buy from Crutchfield
Rollmaster from Roanoke, Virginia on 6/11/2015
1997 Honda Civic
This is why I buy from Crutchfield. They provide the best installation accessories available. Like always I put together the wiring harness on the work before prior to the install. I cut all the wires to an equal length, strip, twist, solder and heat shrink tube each wire. Zip tie the bundle once I am done and its time to install. Like so many times before the Crutchfield accessory is a perfect fit. The instructions gave me the heads up about the dome light circuit passing through the factory stereo. Sure enough the dome light didn't work after removing the factory stereo. I made a jumper for the plug to close the circuit back rather than cutting and splicing the wires like directed in the instructions. Not sure what Honda was thinking with that one...
Pros: Crutchfield supplies the best!
Cons: I recommend that the instructions direct installers to use a jumper for the dome light circuit rather than cutting and splicing the wires.

Why wouldn't you get this? I chose to solder the connections and use some shrink tubing. We pigtailed the connections first to make sure everything worked correctly, then hit it with the soldering iron. Perfect fit to my 95 Civic. Took maybe 15 minutes.
Pros: Color coded wires are a perfect match to my receiver. Plugged right into my Honda head unit. This is simple and anyone can do it. If you don't want to solder, then some wire nuts would work just fine.

Plug and play simple, could use steering wheel control wire
CarlB from Cedarburg, WI on 8/22/2014
2001 Acura 3.5RL
Matches the honda16 connector in our '01 Acura RL. Was able to easily solder up with JVC connector just matching wire colors. It really should have included PIN-12 to allow for wiring in steering wheel control interface. I extracted a pin from a second connector in order to allow the steering wheel control adaptor to plug and play rather than hard wire it into the vehicle. This keeps the car compatible for easy reinstallation of the factory radio in case we sell it.
Pros: Perfect mate to factory Honda16 harness. Standard wire colors.
Cons: Needs a steering wheel control pin-12.

umina323 from Folsom, CA on 3/28/2014
1996 Acura Integra
Wired this baby up, directions were VERY clear and easy to work with, plugged it in and it worked the first time. NO complaints at all, except that I do wish they made a real adapter for my car. I would have paid extra (probably up to $20) for one that was already made and I could just plug in to my deck. I know there's a zillion decks out there and a zillion cars, but still... It took me about an hour to match up, solder, and heat shrink all of the wires so that it would plug into my deck. However, I am still very satisfied with this item!
Pros: Works great!
Cons: Had to solder it and do all the work myself

I have to admit that connecting all the wires was the most intimidating part of doing my own installation. This wire harness made it a breeze. The instructions were accurate and helpful, the colors matched up perfectly to the receiver wires, and it turned out to be an easy process to connect everything. I did call Crutchfield tech support to verify that I did not need to connect the various unused wires because this was not totally clear from the instructions, but otherwise this was quick and straightforward.

Perfect fit. Great harness
PDaddy59 from Holly Springs, NC on 1/10/2013

Fit perfectly in my sister-in-law's 1996 Honda Civic. Major thanks to Crutchfield for noting that you had to split two wires from the second radio harness to get the dome lights to work. Honda bundles some basic car function (dome lights, keyless entry) with the stock head end, which is just bizarre. Thank God for Crutchfield and information on how to get around this.
Pros: Great value for the money. Good sound and lots of flexibility for set up.
Cons: Interface is unduly complicated. As noted in previous reviews, the asinine "demo" function is of no use to consumers and should be eliminated by JVC.

Coastdownhills from Hendersonville, TN on 8/17/2012

Ordered this to be sure of getting a harness compatible with both my radio and automobile. This is specific for the auto but not for the radio. It requires soldering wires to the radio so the harness with your old radio will probably work. It is nice for the color codes to be the same. Don't know if this is industry standard. It would be nice if they included some heat shrink tubs to cover the wires as wrapping with electrical tape would be a real pain. . Fortunately I do a fair amount of electrical work so it was no big deal. I do remember getting a radio and vehicle specific harness for a Ford years ago that snapped onto both the radio and the auto harness. This is not one of those.
Pros: Color codes same as radio.and allows one to make connections to radio outside the car.
Cons: does require soldering and wrapping the insulation would be difficult.

Essential to a stereo installation.
EnergySamus from California on 5/25/2012
1994 Honda Accord EX
Made wiring the new stereo to my Accord a whole heck of a lot easier. Instead of soldering the wires together, though, I decided to twist the ends together into a tight ball, then use electrical tape to secure them (this was mainly because I didn't have a solder on hand). Still works the way it should, and my new stereo operates as it should.
Pros: Makes wiring a breeze. Included with my purchase of a stereo. All the wire colors coordinated with the wiring for my Sony CDX GT565UP
Cons: None

Scosche 70-1720 Receiver Wiring Harness
Ed W. from Kansas City on 2/27/2012
1994 Honda Civic
Worked well. Ends came pre-stripped, however, I had to strip slightly more off each of the 13 wires to get enough wire for my big fingers to twist, so not as advantageous as could have been. Directions indicated taking ground wire straight to chassis to ground but that was not possible since you have to hook it up to the stereo's wiring harness first. So I had to cut the wire, splice it with the stereo's wiring harness as well as splice it with the piece I had cut off to then connect it to the chassis.
Pros: Makes connecting to the original car's wiring a lot simpler.
Cons: Instructions could have been better especially for a novice like me.

Thank you, Crutchfield, for including this with my stereo. It really made things easy. Without this harness, I would have cut the end off the stock stereo, which is dead, but then I would still have to figure out which wire does what. This harness took a fraction of the time. Color codes matched my Alpine stereo, which was nice too.

Perfect connection to Kenwood. Crutchfield even identified the wires that were not to be used (on the Kenwood harness). Just one wire was confusing and the Crutchfield team clarified in just a few minutes. I would suggest taking 6 inches of wire off the harness so that you don't have a lot of extra harness length.

Alan from Pasadena, CA on 5/2/2011

The wiring harness worked great for my 2000 Acura Integra GSR. I was able to wire the Alpine stereo to the wiring harness on a workbench. When it came to install the radio, all I had to do was plug in the radio, and the radio and all of its functions worked great. The wiring harness directions were exact, no modifications required and it saved time, instead of wiring the radio in the car. Great product would recommend it to anyone when installing a radio and wanting to keep the factory wiring harness.

Wiring adapter...
GVTDI from Grass Valley, CA on 2/5/2011
1989 Acura Integra
This adapter provides a way to connect your factory radio harness connecter to a new head unit. The head unit should come with it's own harness similar to what Crutchfield provides but with a connector that fits the head unit (stereo). You simply connect the two half-harnesses together then plug each end into it's appropriate connector, one to the radio and the other to the vehicle's radio connector. It doesn't get any easier than that. Use only heat-shrink over the newly soldered connections, not electricians tape or duct tape. I have done about a half-dozen installs on various vehicles using Crutchfields adapters and they worked perfect every time. Re-installing the factory radio then becomes as simple as removing the non-original radio, pulling the adapter connector from the factory harness then reinstalling the factory radio. Bottom line is that you are to make a specialized adapter to match the new stereo to the car's existing radio connector without butchering the original factory harness.

Tim from Pittsburgh, PA on 7/8/2009

This worked very well. It allows you to attach the wires from the unit to this harness without having to sit in the car and do it. Once the wires are soldered together, you can just plug it into the car and go. There were a couple wires from the stereo that didn't have a matching wire (such as cell phone speaker). I also had to search around for a while to realize that I needed to connect both power wires (yellow) from my stereo to the one yellow wire in the harness. Other than that, this is great.

Harness mostly okay
Gary from Ridgefield, CT on 6/8/2009
1997 Honda Accord LX
Wires matched up color for color. There was one wire labelled PCONT, that I still have no idea what it for and I left it unconnected. That I had to do soldering between two connectors was unknown to me prior to installing the product. I do not know why Crutchfield couldn't have provided the harness already done however. Their literature at the time of buying only mentioned needing two screwdrivers and an 8mm socket wrench (the latter I didn't need). So what was to be an X hour project, became a X+1 hour project. Thankfully, I had a solder iron, but no shrink wrap, and I ran out of electrical tape so I had to use duct tape to insulate the soldered wire connections. I am really complaining about the literature. The harness is fine.

If you are doing a self install on a source unit, this harness makes life so easy. The colors match up exactly to those of the wiring harness of my source unit. Followed the supplied instructions with the harness. I have a 97 TL & at 1st I was worried about the colors matching (the wire colors of the car factory adapter didn't seem to match up to the colors on this harness) But I wired it together & plugged it in just to give it a shot - worked like a charm. Up & running right off the bat. I used heatshrink splice connectors. I was able to do the wire crimping in the comfort of my kitchen. Afterwards, plugged it in & everything worked like the instructions said. I can't see myself doing it without this wire harness - I feel it's a must have & allows you to leave the original OEM radio connectors intact

I'm sure it's a cost issue, but it would've been nice if there was a harness that required no splicing/taping/soldering.
