About the Metra 70-8215 Receiver Wiring Harness

Here's the problem — Toyota builds the climate control functions for the 2005-up Avalon into the factory radio. Take out the radio, and the heating and air conditioning controls won't work.

Here's the problem — Toyota builds the climate control functions for the 2005-up Avalon into the factory radio. Take out the radio, and the heating and air conditioning controls won't work.

The Metra 70-8215 harness provides a solution — remove the factory stereo from the dash, mount it in an out-of-the-way place, then connect it to the climate controls with this vehicle-specific harness. You get a new stereo and your climate controls will still work. Warranty: 30 days.

Note: This harness is for Toyota Avalon models without the premium JBL sound system. Please enter your vehicle information or call a Sales Advisor at 1-888-955-6000 to find out if this model is compatible with your vehicle.

Features

Metra Wiring Harness: Metra wiring harnesses prevent you from having to cut your vehicle's factory radio plug when replacing your factory radio with an aftermarket head unit. Simply solder or crimp the Metra wiring harness to your aftermarket head unit's harness (solder & crimps not included), plug the aftermarket head unit's plug into the rear chassis of the aftermarket head unit, and plug the Metra wiring harness into your vehicle's factory radio plug.

Note: Installation tools, hardware, & accessories are not included & sold separately. Please see the Accessories tab for recommendations & availability.

Wiring Notes: If the Metra wiring harness is not equipped with a ground wire, you will need to ground the aftermarket head unit's ground wire to the metal chassis of your vehicle. Some vehicle's may require you to bypass the vehicle's factory amplifier (in another location from factory radio) or hardwire certain connections. If your vehicle is equipped with factory steering wheel controls, an additional adapter is required and sold separately.

Regardless of the head unit you're putting in, you have to keep the original unit in the car somewhere and have it connected with this harness.

You will want to contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat to discuss compatibility with your factory system. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and see if this will integrate. If it does not, then they will also be able to discuss other options with you.
