Back in the day when car manufacturers used standard size speakers, changing out a bad speaker meant a quick trip to Radio Shack and the speakers were changed out easily. Well, not anymore. Speakers have gotten into all sorts of strange configurations that are hard to find specifications for, let alone that actual speakers themselves. Well, no more. Crutchfield has the speaker size and upgrades you need to get your car stereo back up and running. And they supply adapters that fit your existing auto wiring harness, so no more cutting, stripping and crimping speaker wires and hoping you got the + and - done right. It took me longer to get the old speakers out than it took to get the new ones in. Just hook up the wires, drop them in and use the same screws that held the old speaker in. After installing both rear pillar speakers, I sat in the back of the car and thought, "That can't be it". Well, it was, I was done and the speakers work perfectly. You will pay a bit more for Crutchfield parts, but they come with everything you need to install them, and they are backed by Crutchfield's outstanding customer service and expertise. I know where I'm going from now on!

The adapters made it convenient for wiring the new speakers, but the ends that "slide" onto the speakers were crimped too tight and wouldn't push on without me prying them open wider.

These speakers were a good, cost effective alternative to the stock speakers in my 98 Wrangler. I recently replaced the stock stereo and the stock speakers left something to be desired. Installed these in approximately 20 minutes and the system now sounds 100% better.

Makes install a snap, but the female disconnects are too tight, and will readily bend delicate speaker terminals. Prep the disconnects with a tiny flat blade screwdriver to open them up enough for the terminals.

I really like getting the adaptors. It makes installation so easy but the top tab on one broke right away. It's a very thin piece of plastic. I just taped it to the other wiring and it's fine but it was just a little too flimsy.

The wires were backwards from what the diagram showed (for the + and - on the connector). Instead of White being Power, it was Ground, and instead of Black being ground it was Power in the connector itself.

These hooked right up to the factory wiring system but the small tab wouldn't fit the Focal speaker's terminal. I'm going to have to splice a standard end that fits on to the harness.

Metra 72-6512 Speaker Wiring Harness

These Metra adapters are great items. They really make installs neat and tidy. I have a 2000 Dodge Intrepid, with the base audio system. I was replacing 2 out of the 4 speakers. One problem however - it did appear that the white and black wires were reversed in the connector, relative to my car's wiring, which would have resulted in the black and white speaker leads being crossed. This would have resulted in the 2 new speakers being out of phase relative to the 2 remaining speakers if used as is. I called Crutchfield support, and they agreed with me. We fixed the problem by removing the wires from the connector and reversing them. This was very easy to do, as the Metra connector is able to be opened up and the wires switched from one side to the other. Remember, on car wiring, black means negative, and black wires should always be connected to black. Crutchfield support said they would reach out to Metra as to why these particular Metra part number connectors were miswired. Crutchfield support is the best! .

2001 300M worked great in the front doors but did not match the rear speakers. The connectors matched the from tweeter and luckily the wires reached the lower door speaker location

Great product to use factory wiring vs. soldering or crimping!! Would've given 5 stars but for the cons.
Pros: Connected right up to goofy factory speaker connectors.
Cons: Negative side of both harness' was too small to fit properly on speaker terminal without using some small tools and monkeying around with it to open it up some. Trying to push it on initially was so tight that I though the terminal was going to snap.

Not happy with this product. Althouth the one end connected easily to factory harness the othe end did not connect as easy to the speakers. In fact the supplied wiring that came with the speakers fit much easier.

One of the best reasons to do business with Crutchfield is the additional hardware and wiring they give you for free. In this case it was just a simple case of connecting the wire harness from the factory connector to the new speakers and screwing them down.

Did not fit my vehicle and I ended up having to splice wires. vendor said that Chrysler changed wiring in the 2005 and up vehicles and that mine must have beeb built using the newer harness.

I insisted on these to not not cut and splice stock harness. Perfect fit connections.
Pros: No cutting and splicing stock wiring.
Cons: I insisted on these to not cut stock wiring. Tried to find at local car audio dealers and was told they refused to use them because 90% time they were out of phase. When I got them they were (in phase), but polarity was backwards. Didn't bother me much since I knew how to disassemble connector and redo the wire placement. To someone who does not though this would be very disappointing and even cluelessly blaming the speakers.

They made installing the new speakers quick and easy. Probably the speakers' fault, but the placement of the pins made it difficult to attach the connectors. I ended up bending the pins and it worked fine. I highly recommend them for saving time on install.

It's a simple harness that works as designed. However two of the female connectors had to be adjusted as they were too loose when mounted to the speaker male terminals. A simple repair.
