Doesnt fit either size

This says 5 1/4 or 6 1/2 it doesn't "fit" either size. I had a pair of 5 1/4 laying around so i bought these. The speakers had a noticeable gap so i bought 6.5s thinking that was the problem. It wasn't. The 6.5 basket won't fit. I now have to either deal with a gap (no bass) or cut/saw the adaptor. Not Crutchfield's fault but they should make two different sizes.

It did not work for my car. 2002 Pontiac sunfire as it had six speakers not 4 tweeter up front with the other speaker. Now I have to make a board about 1/8 thick and mount it to that and then to the car. have not had time yet but not a big thing for me. Other than the time I wasted trying to get it to work with the hardware recommended

I like this product because it fits both the speakers and the car and is easy to attach. The only problem I have is that its slightly too large in depth for my door panel to fit over it, which is disappointing as Crutchfield told me it would fit my car no problems.

Mounted in 01' Cavalier Worked perfectly Wtih 6 1/2" Pioneer speakers... Didn't try grills but it fit fine without, good thing you don't need them...?? FOOD FOR THOUGHT: Ran battery down while installing full system, speakers sounded blown with low batt. Sent speakers back to find out nothing was wrong Must have fully charged system to get right sound

I got these to install Infinity 6020cs speakers in my 98 Cavalier doors. Using these adapters I had a major clearance issue with the door panel. It would have been necessary to cut out the panel and use the grille from the Infinity speakers which I did not want to do. I ended up using these adapters to trace a template on 1/4" plywood, so they did serve a purpose and helped me with the install, but not as they were intended. These need to be about 1/2" thinner and they would have fit without issue. I would return them but it is not worth paying the shipping to do so.

I bought these to install in the front door of my 2004 Grand Am. I was sorely disappointed when trying to install 6.5" speakers from Rockford Fosgate, the mounting hole was too small!? I had to modify these to hold my speakers by hollowing out the center a bit. It wasn't too hard just very annoying that the speakers did not fit in from the Metra factory. Probably a great product for 5.25" though. I gave this product 3 stars because it has worked well other than the aforementioned pain.

Features

Overview: As of 11/17/14, the 82-3300 is compatible with select 1995-2005 Chevrolet and Pontiac vehicles. (Please refer to the Crutchfield Vehicle Selector to confirm fit in your vehicle.)

6-1/2 Speakers: 6-1/2 speakers with the 3-hole bolt pattern or the symmetrical 4-hole bolt pattern can be mounted using the tabs around the inner speaker opening of this bracket (if the hole spacing matches).

5-1/4 Speakers: The frame diameter of a some 5-1/4s is smaller than the brackets' cutout; in these cases a speaker baffle should be used to seal the rear of the speaker.

Q
I have a pair of diamond audio d3 6.5's they do not fit in the adapter. The basket cutout is 5.54 inches. Is there anyone who has modified these adapters for these speakers or a pair with the same cutout size?

A
The cutout diameter of the 82-3300 brackets is 5.08". We do not recommend modifying them to accommodate larger speaker's cutout requirements.

Q
has anyone installed this in a 2000 sun fire/cavalier?? if so how was the fit??

Yes, they work good. But the pre-drilled holes will probably not lineup with your car's. No big deal tho the screws go right thru the plastic. The speaker mounting surface on these are slightly angled....so I orientated it for best possible fit anyways.
[ PETER  Dec 15, 2014 ]

I have a 2003 sunfire coupe and I received these with 6 ½ inch speakers and the brackets stuck out too much for the door panel to lock back onto the door. I went with 4x6 speakers instead for a direct and easy fit. Hope this helps!!
[ ANTHONY M  Dec 14, 2014 ]
A
I used these in my 2001 Pontiac Sunfire front doors last year and they fit well, though the speaker pushed up against the inside of the door. This caused some ratling at times if i didn't have the sound faded to the rear. Might have just been the speakers. Since they were 3-way

I had them for my 97 easy install
