Metra 82-7400 Speaker Mounting Brackets

The speaker mounting brackets didn't fit my Nissan Frontier Crew Cab 2010 right out of the box. The mounting hole didn't align with the OEM Holes on the doors. Solution: dill larger holes in the mounting bracket and add larger washers to hold in place.

Pros: Free

Cons: need to modify

They work... but they don't line up with the factory holes. I used self-tapping screws to mount the bracket. I also added Dynamat behind the bracket. They seem sturdy and overall decent quality. I would recommend using self-tapping screws so you don't have to modify the bracket.

Pros:

Cons: mounting holes don't line up

Great Product

These were great for installing new speakers in the rear doors of my 2015 Nissan Frontier. The mounting holes for the speaker were a little off, and I had to drill one hole to mount the speakers to the bracket, but the bracket holes lined up perfectly with the door.

Pros: Ease of Installation

Doesn't fit without modification

The holes in the bracket lined up great for mounting the speaker to the bracket, however, the holes for mounting the bracket to my 2005 Nissan frontier crew cab did not line up at all. It's pretty easily modified with a drill to move two of the holes, but I expect better.

Pros: Fits speaker, allows it to be mounted easily to factory location

Cons: Doesn't fit factory mounting holes without modification.

Greta fit! A small modification needed to be done. A small hole needed to be drilled in the side of the bracket for the wire to fit in the rear doors. A cordless drill did the job, took a few minutes to do. Without this bracket it would take hours compared to minutes to do. 5 stars.

As other reviewers have said, these brackets did not fit the 3-hole pattern in the truck rear doors. I had to use a router bit in a Dremel tool to move each of the three holes about 1/8-inch towards the center; not a big deal though. What I didn't like about them more than that is that they didn't come with any padding. The old speakers had a layer of foam padding that is essential because the steel truck panel is not flat. The original brackets were made from fiber-reinforced polymer with gusseted tabs. These aftermarket ones are just cheap plastic and don't appear robust enough to last very long. But at the end of the day, the installation is done, and with the modifications (relocating holes and adding foam), they work.

These brackets do not fit as supplied with speakers

These brackets do not fit 6-3/4 speakers for a Nissan. I had to oval all holes for mounting with a dremel tool to even come close and only found 2 holes that would line up with the speaker itself and had to try to manipulate frame out of square to find 2 more to securely mount speaker. Also had to make a divit in each frame with( dremel tool ), Below speaker level to allow speaker wires to terminate with factory wiring.

Pros: Kind of fit with some work!

Cons: Not for a Novice installer.

Handy for aftermarket speakers

T Ferdinand from San Jose, CA on 6/17/2016

2007 Nissan Xterra

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

Comes in handy with aftermarket speaker installation. They may be too thick for some applications. They had to be modified to fit aftermarket speakers in my rig.

Pros: Good quality

Cons: If you are using them to install after market speakers in an 07 Nissan Xterra they are too thick! You will have to do some modification to them to get everything to fit using the stock door grilles.

does not fit but worked with some extra effort

Chris from Buford, GA on 4/11/2016

As others have said already in these reviews, this bracket does not fit on my 2014 Nissan Frontier crew cab. The 3 mounting holes do not line up with the 3 on the vehicle. However, the bracket is still useful. You can mount with one of the holes that align and then use screws to simply screw this bracket to the door speaker housing. Not ideal but effective.

Pros: It worked and did the job.

Cons: Does not fit like one would expect when getting something from Crutchfield.

Bad Fit

RAE from Boston, MA on 2/26/2016

2006 Nissan Frontier

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

Like many others, holes did not line up for my 2006 Nissan Frontier Crew Cab. With some maneuvering I was able to get it in but it did not fit cleanly. I was happy to see others with the same issue which confirmed I was not making a mistake in installing. Also, each rear speaker has two pieces for this kit. I did not understand how the second, thinner bracket worked. Would have been helpful to have some instructions with this kit. I could not find any with the packaging or on this website.

Pros: provided free with speakers I purchased

Cons: Did not fit correctly

These brackets came with the 6 3/4 speakers that Crutchfield said fit my Nissan, however the speakers I pulled out measured 6.5 inches. I would think that the bracket would fit the 6.5 inch holes but didnt, I had to drill my own holes to get the bracket to work properly.

Pros: Were free with speaker purchase.

Cons: Didnt fit properly

Holes did not line up

These brackets were suggested by Crutchfield adviser as being made for my vehicle but the holes did not line up to mount to the door frame. Had to drill 2 holes in each to attach. I was able to find 3 suitable holes on each bracket to mount the 6 1/2 inch rear door speakers to the bracket.

Pros: good price.

Cons: Not exact fit as advised.
