This Metra stereo mounting bracket is the best. Mounts the radio flush with no cutting of frame work in the dash for a nice sleek appearance. I would highly recommend this unit for anyone mounting an aftermarket stereo into and 85 corvette.
Pros: Mounts easily, no cutting of dash, looks attractive, sturdy frame.
Cons: holes in mounting brackets should be slotted so radio doesn't look crooked

Great Idea But....

This is a great idea and it is a plus that Crutchfield included it free with the radio purchase. But, the quality was lower than expected. The knockout was extreemly hard to remove without scratching or damaging the face and, the bottom shelf/plate attached poorly. Worst was the cheap metal brackets that attached the unit to the Corvette dash. It used only 2 of the 4 original screws.

This kit worked great! The instructions were easy to read and follow. Turns out the mounting brackets off the original stereo fit on this kit and gave 4 mounting screws rather than 2 that the kit comes with making it just as strong as the original. Installation of this kit is very easy and worth getting.

When I pulled this item out it seemed kinda flimsey, a snap together deal. As I put it in it worked out incredibly well. Fit right into the opening left by the old head unit and leaves a professional look to the install. Definately saved a lot of time from trying to fill the extra space with something else.
