It's not a bad kit depends on what double din radio you get it may sit flush may not mine doesn't and the buttons are just cheap you can tell but it's functional and fits so I suppose that's what matters
Pros: Works 100% and fits
Cons: Cheap

Needed about a half inch of trimming to get my radio to fit (was told others fit fine). Plastic did not match the car as closely as I expected for the price. Buttons were a much lighter grey the. Pictured
Pros: Buttons worked without issue
Cons: Buttons not the same color as in picture more light grey then dark grey. Aluminum pain dose not match the car perfectly. As expected but for the price I expected alittle better Needed lots of modifications to get it to fit right for me

It fits
Crutchfield customer from Des Moines, IA on 9/16/2019
2005 Infiniti G35
Low effort, low cost attempt at a match The "stainless steel" is painted on. The chrome trim around the edges is tape. It's far from a match to factory. The rubber buttons flop around loosely in the housing and the pushes feel extremely cheap. The orange light color matches alright at night but in the day is a much lighter shade of orange. Also light leaks through the gaps between the buttons. The temp adjustment is push button instead of a rotary knob like factory so adjusting temp from heat to AC takes much longer. No option for models without dual climate control so I'm stuck with a non-functional button for an option my car doesn't have. About the only thing positive about this dash kit is that it fits amd it's cheaper than other dash kits. I'm not spending $300+ to install a $100 radio.
Pros: Fits, cheaper
Cons: Literally everything else

Kit works as intended, temp control knob is push button not a rotating control as original, finish choices should include something close to original as I had a wood type and had to settle for brushes silver. It looks acceptable tho.
Pros: Worked as intended
Cons: Different temp control than original, should be a better matching finish to choose from.

For the price, I was expecting a lot more. A few issues with this that have found include: 1) Color doesn't match the brushed aluminum from Infiniti, 2) Unable to adjust the depth of the stereo due to the rounded corners of the opening causing the stereo to sit very deep in the dash, 3) unable to properly fit the panel for the gear shifter causing issues putting vehicle in park. Since there are no other options for aftermarket mounting in this vehicle I am pretty much stuck with this, but am none the less disappointed.

Not what its cracked up to be
John from Rome, GA on 8/7/2017
2005 Infiniti G35
This piece is just OK. Its great that it is available since you can not just install another radio without it, however it leaves a little to be desired. Its expensive and they make two different ones. A silver and a brushed aluminum. Of course the latter is more expensive. The AC controls feel cheap. Bigger problem we had was that the double din radio we have, which isn't anything special, wouldn't actually fit through the face. I had to sit the radio back deeper to keep from having to trim it. If I had to do it again, I would probably order a bluetooth kit for the factory radio.
Pros: It exists. It sort of matches the dash.
Cons: Expensive. Cheap feeling. Radio doesn't fit through the face.

It works, but it's not as nice as it should be for the $$
JC from Magnolia, TX on 8/7/2016
2006 Infiniti G35
I ordered this despite the mediocre reviews because it was really the only option to get an aftermarket double DIN stereo into the car. I had a 2004 G35 before and the dash kit for it was much nicer - like stock quality, and cheaper. For the 2006 I agree with all the reviews, the fit is not very good - there are small gaps at the bottom and I had to file the upper edge for my stereo face to open (Pioneer AVH-4100NEX) because it was too tight at the top. Also the buttons do not look high quality - they are uneven, gray and cheap looking. Also the brushed aluminum finish does not match the stock brushed finish of the rest of the console. It does work though.
Pros: Works to get a double DIN stereo installed and the HVAC controls work.
Cons: Fit and finish is poor quality. It could be a lot better.

super expensive, dosen't fit great
chazzamm from Colorado on 10/30/2014
2006 Infiniti G35
Unit is super expensive, even with purchase of a stereo through Crutchfield, changes all of your buttons and dials to a cheap feeling plasticky buttons, and does not fit quite perfect, (even after a few tries) the bottom of this panel is not flush with the panel beneath. If you are looking to put an aftermarket stereo into a G35x you are more or less stuck with this, but, dont go getting your hopes up that this will be a perfect fit or match to your interior. The "Brushed Aluminum" is in fact plastic and does not match the factory appearance of my dash panels very well at all (as they are Actually Aluminum)
Pros: I was able to mount an aftermarket stereo
Cons: Plastic, does not fit or look like factory, incredibly expensive

Where do I start.... First of all the buttons are gray and feel "cheep" the color of the adapter is not a good match. This is not something that complements the G35 at all. but if you want a after market radio you just half to suck it up and get it.
Pros: Great customer service from Crutchfield.
Cons: The buttons are the wrong color, They were grey and should have been black, and they feel spongy, Color of the adapter did not match my factory console, and looks very cheep, Metra dropped the ball on this one big time.

Not a perfect match, but pretty darn close
E from Aston, PA on 5/29/2014
2006 Infiniti G35
Installed in a 2006 Infiniti G35 with Bose/Nav. First of all, I can openly admit that I am not experienced in audio installations, but I did this pretty easily with only a couple minor problems. I was able to do this b/c Crutchfield is AWESOME! The directions they give you are extremely helpful, hats off to the tech writers there! There were a few issues I had questions with but they were all answered VERY quickly by Crutchfield's Customer Support (which are amazing, seriously a 10/10). The product itself is a well-made product. Not perfect. The color match isn't a 100% match but it's extremely close. Maybe a 90% match. I got the "brushed aluminum finish." The worst part about this would be the buttons color (which don't match the black at all) but it really doesn't make a huge deal to me. All of the functions still work perfect. **This has nothing to do with this kit, but if you are putting a new head unit in and you have the pop up navigation, there are a few additional steps to separate the nav from the stock headunit/harness. There are 3 or 4 screws on each side of the medal casing that holds the stock head unit in place. I thought I had them all out and got really frustrated when it still didn't come out. You have to plug the nav in, pop the nav up, and there is a hidden screw behind the arms of the nav. It's hard to explain but you will see when you take it apart. Common sense should take over**
Pros: Fits good, everything works,
Cons: Buttons

Buttons are horrible
Guest from Maryland, MD on 9/24/2013
It works and even though that's the most important part I would have done more research to find one with better climate control Buttons. These are horrible. It completely takes away the luxury feel/appearance of the car. I was so disappointed after having it installed. To the point that if the car had these originally, I would have never bought it...I hate it that much!
Pros: works
Cons: Hate the look

Almost excellent....
Brian P from Jacksonville, FL on 7/11/2013
I'm rating the adpater kit as almost excellent because of the fact that I had to make slight cuts near the mounting brackets with my Dremel in order for it to fit flush and perfect (without wide seams). The wiring interface and button controls all work perfectly. Does is look exactly the same as the original? NO, but it's more than good enough for me. In fact, no one who has gotten innto my car has even noticed that it's a non-OEM piece. What they do notice is that I have a very nice stereo installed and the excellent sound that it puts out. So, for me the benefits of the new stereo is more than an acceptable trade-off. If I didn't have to make the custom cuts to the adapter I would have given it a 5-star rating.
Pros: - All buttons and controls work perfectly. - Looks very close to the OEM piece. - Wiring and connections instructions were clear and accurate. - Quality of contruction appears to be up to OEM standards.
Cons: - Customization / cutting was required to the kit for perfect fit.

Good enough
Henry95 from Tampa, FL on 7/9/2013
2005 Infiniti G35
I agree with all the adverse comments from other reviewers. But I'm giving it four stars because it allowed a head unit replacement that would otherwise be impossible (or require a custom-built panel). I believe there are two finishes available: brushed aluminum and silver. I got the brushed aluminum. Even though the surface is painted plastic, it comes pretty close to the factory metal surface in most lighting conditions. (The difference grows in low-angle lighting, but is still OK.) They get the "brushed" texture by brush painting the thing in one direction. It works, although the brush strokes are a little more curvy than the OEM metal texture. Yeah, the buttons were disappointing. Nowhere near the stiffness and crisp detent of the originals. Their choice of a grayish color (vice original black) for the buttons is inexplicable, although it ends up looking pretty good, strangely, with my beige leather and brown dash. It's made entirely of plastic, so you can't afford to put any stress on it... you'll break it if you try to use screw tension to pull in a not-quite-fitting head unit bracket. The gap between my JVC and the opening is a little wider than I'd like, but not bad enough to correct. I had absolutely no problem getting it into the dash, with no gaps. I suspect some folks might have put the other panels in slightly askew. So: Lots to not like here, but there's no other choice and it does the job.
Pros: It works; finish is a decent match; huge discount from Crutchfield.
Cons: Finish isn't a perfect match; cheap buttons; buttons gray instead of black; loss of temp dial, replaced with up/down buttons; dubious plastic construction.

You get what you pay for...
dbarrym from San Diego on 2/12/2013
2006 Infiniti G35
I knew what I was getting based on reviews at enthusiast forums like 6MT.com and G35driver.com....and they were right. It works well enough but looks very aftermarket, the grey buttons look faded, like they came out of an abandoned car out in the desert, and the tactile feel is very sloppy...the fit is fairly poor, and the aluminum finish is a poor match for the stock Infiniti interior trim. But hey, it was half off with the purchase of a radio, and it was in stock. Oh, and a 1/8" gap at the bottom (with Pioneer AVIC-X940BT) that needed to be filled.
Pros: It works. Half off the price with the purchase of a radio. And it was in stock.
Cons: Looks and feel very aftermarket, ugly buttons, poor switch feel, color and finish is a poor match to factory Infiniti trim. 1/8" bottom gap with Pioneer DD X940BT installed.
