Q
The picture does not look thick enough to cover the whole dash. Does it cover even the volume and seek knob once you remove them?

I don't fully understand what you mean by covering the knobs. However, I used the kit to install a double DIN receiver and I think if fits the dash and the receiver for a perfect fit. Hope this helps.

hello i bought this kit for my 2006 cts. the dash panel covers the entire stock opening quite nicely. from side to side and top to bottom of the original factory panel. this includes the volume knob areas. i recommend it highly. thank you.

I didn't use the kit because I did a different kind of install where I was able to retain the DIC and make it look factory installed with an aftermarket navy unit
cluite  Mar 25, 2014
A
Yes those knows are apart of the factory unit and the face plate covers everything nicely

Depending on the type of dash board you have it will fit. I had a 2006 CTS so it came out like a block and that is what will cover the space. .
eddie c  Mar 25, 2014

I used this in my sons 2007 Cadillac CTS and YES it does cover the whole dash. RG
bonnie  Mar 25, 2014
A
Yes it does, it replaces all the navigational buttons, knobs and DVD/CD changer
anthony  Mar 25, 2014
A
Yes it covers the whole thing. The knobs and side trim are actually part of the radio. Its one whole unit that all comes out together and the new trim fills the dash opening perfectly

Q
My question is regarding the installation of this aftermarket bracket and a stereo. Will the removal of the original radio also remove the a/c heater display and functionality?
abraham  Jan 09, 2014

A
Your Information Display will be removed, so you will no longer have the mileage, temperature, tire pressure, etc. that you used to have. You will also lose the fader control with your new head unit. These are drawbacks with this Model/Year of Cadillac, but what you gain as far as connections with your new head unit is immeasurable.
stephanie m  Jan 10, 2014
A
No it will not.Climate control is a separate unit.
mitchell  Jan 09, 2014
A
From the mini computer yes, no warnings will display. You can however still use the heater and ac functions via the bottom portion.
andrew  Jan 09, 2014
A
No, the receiver kit replaces from below the top vents to above the AC controls.
chris  Jan 09, 2014
A
No the ac/heater control panel sits below the radio so it does not affect the function of it. But u will lose any info that runs through the radio like your outside temp or tire pressure

Q
How do you feel about losing the vehicle's information center? I like the vehicle data that it provides and I wonder how that turned out for you. Do you miss it?

I was afraid that I was making a mistake but my new radio has so much more to offer . Besides sounding better it automatically mates up with my phone and sirius xm radio . I don't miss it at all.
carl w  Jul 28, 2014
A
It is fairly important but it's a personal choice. Remember all you have now is a check engine light to help you . Keep that in mind
melvin  Jul 27, 2014

I don't really miss it. Just make sure the setting is what you want. It was worth it considering the flexibility it provides with the new sound system and bluetooth. I would do it again if given the same choices.

Don't miss it bc the features of the pioneer far outweigh the Vic . The head unit is outstanding.
michael  Jul 26, 2014
A
I decided not to use this part at the last minute, after using information i gained on the Cadillac forum site i was able to retain the DIC.
frank  Jul 25, 2014
A
Not really. I find that I took care of the car on my own, more than anything I was on it better than the computer. Just buy yourself an ODP 2 if your check engine light ever comes on.
andrew  Jul 25, 2014
A
I don't miss it really. Although info like MPG Avg/Live MPG were useful, but stuff you could live without.
chris  Jul 25, 2014
A
Honestly, a little bit. I ran out of gas because there is no sensor. If you check your gauges often you get used to it pretty quick.
michel  Jul 25, 2014

Our cts was a base model and did not have the info canter, we loved our receiver and we also converted the steering wheel controls, worked great, but since have traded the cts and now have super snake.
leilani  Jul 25, 2014
A
since I have upgraded to a sts 2007. in my cts, no i didn't miss it. In my sts i would, as the headunit is 70% more integrated into the car. Using a line driver converter just doesn't hold up in performance as the "direct connect" . But at the moment my only option for aftermarket bass without losing functionality is the above method.
melissa  Jul 25, 2014
A
No not really. The only thing that I seem to miss every once in awhile is the outside temperature. Other then that the overall increase in sound quality overrides the lose of knowing how hot it is outside.
