About the Metra 99-7804 Dash and Wiring Kit

Bob Bihlmayer

Metra 99-7804

You bought a select 2013-17 Honda Accord — great car, but its console makes it impossible to upgrade the factory radio. Metra's integration adapter allows you to install an aftermarket single- (2" tall) or double-DIN (4" tall) stereo in the Honda's dash panel, while maintaining the factory colour screen.

The included dash kit is a perfect match for the colour, texture, and contours of your Honda dash. The included wiring harness works in vehicles with or without a factory amplifier. You'll be able to retain the use of your Honda's backup camera and factory subwoofer, if present. The package also includes a harness that plugs directly from your Honda into the Axxess ASWC-1 adapter (not included), allowing you to retain your steering wheel audio controls with a new car stereo.

Please enter your vehicle information or call an Advisor at 1-888-955-6000 to find out if this kit is compatible with your vehicle.

Product Research

Features

Vehicle Compatibility: The Metra 99-7804 radio replacement module & dash kit allows you to replace your 2013-up Honda Accord's factory radio with an aftermarket head unit, while retaining many of the factory features which are normally lost when the factory radio is removed.

Note: TPMS and Fuel Economy will not be displayed on the factory screen after the factory radio is removed. Fuel Economy is displayed in the instrument cluster. Refer to the vehicle's owner's manual for details on calibrating TPMS and locating the TPMS button.

Single or Double DIN: The included dash kit provides provisions for mounting an aftermarket single-DIN head unit with the included pocket or an aftermarket double-DIN head unit with no pocket.

Retained Features: The included radio replacement interface lets you retain your vehicle's factory LCD color screen, factory subwoofer, and factory backup camera. The factory backup camera still displays on the factory LCD screen (not your aftermarket in-dash receiver). This Metra 99-7804 also features a composite video jack for adding an aftermarket backup camera and having it display on the factory LCD above the radio (not the aftermarket in-dash receiver).

Note: You will use the vehicle's factory steering wheel controls to navigate the menu on the factory screen above the radio.

Navigation Outputs: The Metra 99-7804 provides a parking brake wire, reverse trigger, wire, and VSS (vehicle speed sensor) wire for the installation of an aftermarket navigation receiver.

Optional SWC Interface: The 99-7804 retains your factory steering wheel controls with the addition of the Axxess Steering Wheel Control Interface (120ASWC1, sold separately).

Q
Since the factory back up camera is retained on the factory display, how do you change the back up camera angle? With the factory radio, you normally just use the center nob, but that will be replaced with an after market radio. I have a 2016 Honda Accord Sport

I had local shop switch the head unit for. Unable to get OEM camera to work. They replaced the camera with an Alpine rear view camera and installed it to the after market head unit (Now Kenwood 906s)

Hi Hugo, thank you for your question. Once your install and wiring is complete, you will need to access the "Camera Setting" menu option on your stereo. This menu allows you to turn the LaneWatch camera on and off, as well as change the view of the Rear view Camera.

The Metra harness gives you some flexibility with the camera, but not as much as the OEM radio. Make sure you have the angle you want set before the harness goes in. It helps to put LED reverse lights in the trunk lid as it provides more light at night.

Any issue with someone who has this system install? I was also wondering if anyone the reboots how often?

It rebooted a couple times a week for the month I had it installed. My biggest gripe with the kit is that you still need to buy the steering wheel controls module along with this and it only retains the backup camera and the clock, nothing else. I could have just rewired the backup camera to the new radio nd saved the money. I ended up getting another 9th Gen Install Kit and kept every factory feature.

How reliable is this kit? I heard that it causes the system to reboot, is that true? Is it worth it? I wonder if someone who had this kid for few months if they had any issues

For my 2013 Accord Sport, I have had no issues with this kit. I am able to work the menu through the steering wheel controls. I am running a Kenwood touchscreen dvd/stereo and eliminated the factory stereo with the help of the Metra Kit. I took it to an authorized car stereo dealer and had it professionally installed.

I had it for a month and it rebooted or crashed a couple times a week while driving, The screen brightness also changed and dimmed to the point of not being visible at all with no changes after updating the firmware to the latest release.

I had no issues with it.you will lose your volume controls.the backup camera will be fine.also no forward or reverse on the tracks.i installed a pioneer nav system with dvd/cd/mp3/usb playback.it was worth the loss off some controls for me.clock also works with kit.hope this helped
darrin  Jul 23, 2018

You lose all original TOP screen functions except the back up camera. The time is displayed to. You can access the menu of of the new top screen but only function available is to change the time. Also when you hit the turn signal right, the top screen goes blank until the signal is put back to center. The kit thinks it's an ex that has a right turn signal cam. The steering wheel control works fine. The only reason to get this is if you want to keep the stock backup camera and have a double din touchscreen cuz you lose the whole top screen anyway without the kit. I thought it pretty expensive but if you want 2 working screens in your car , it makes the interior look really good

I had it for about a year and a half and had no issues at all. I had all the cable kits too and had it installed professionally. No issues on my accord.

Q
will this kit retain my factory bluetooth in my 2017 Accord LX? Or will I have to use the bluetooth provided on the new aftermarket headunit?
nick21591  Apr 28, 2018
3 answers
A
The kit itself does not have bluetooth capability. You'll have to get a unit with a bluetooth handsfree and place a new microphone. I bought a small fiberglass circuit board, cut it to fit where the factory BT mic was, then drilled a hole in it and hot-glued the new mic in place, so the new mic is mounted where the factory one was.
daniel  Apr 29, 2018
A
Factory Bluetooth will not function. But if you are buying this kit, chances are you bought a nice headunit that has blue tooth. Just run the mic where you want
gardner  Apr 28, 2018
A
No this kit does not retain the factory bluetooth. You will have to use the aftermarket unit's bluetooth.

Can you access the settings for your car like screen color, calibration for tire pressure, clock, etc.?

No I can't. I actually had to buy the PAC SWI-CP5 to get my steering wheel control to work. For some reason I still can't access the settings. I may have to tinker around with the manual button programming feature of the PAC SWI-CP5 to do so. It's still a work in progress
joseph  Dec 30, 2017

Yes,but keep in mind you will loose you volume and next on your steering will unless you get some extra stuff.i didn't go that route because I installed a pioneer nex4200.i just use the remote.hope this helped

The Metra 99-7804B dash and wiring kit is designed for select 2013-up Honda Accord models. To be sure it will work in your 2017 model, please use our Vehicle Selector tool on the Crutchfield website: https://www.crutchfield.com/car/carselector.aspx?lp=%2fCar%2foutfitmycar%2fmycar.aspx You can also contact an Advisor directly by phone (888.955.6000) or online chat to discuss further. I have a 2014 Honda Accord EX-L with Navigation. I don't need navigation anymore but would like to retain my Lane Watch and Back Up Camera. Does module work for Navigation models?

You will want to contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat to discuss compatibility with your factory system. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and see if this will integrate. If it does not, then they will also be able to discuss other options with you.

Q
Does this kit retain the factory fuel economy screens on the factory radio display?
jason  Jan 13, 2017
2 answers
A
It will not. This will just retain the Menu Settings and Backup camera. Settings will sometimes not stick and last time I had it in the car (about a month ago) backup camera had no guidelines. So, I uninstalled and went with another solution. You'll be better off getting a bypass harness. or getting a different install Kit. Honda Accord 2013-2017 (9th Gen) Stereo install Kit

I would like to buy this for my Honda accord coupe 2013 with Alpine ilx 507 , is it compatible? Do I need to buy additional steering control?

Greetings Raghu. Thank you for your question. This is compatible with your 2013 Accord. It does not retain the steering wheel radio buttons though. you would need a second interface to keep those working. The Metra Axxess ASWC-1 is recommended. https://www.crutchfield.com/p_120ASWC1/Axxess-ASWC-1-Steering-Wheel-Control-Adapter.html

I just fixed this exact problem today on my 2014 Honda Accord with direction from Crutchfield tech support - go into the settings where you chose your vehicle & year - change it to the next newer year. Example: my car is a 2014, I changed it to 2015 or higher. My FCW light went out & no more alert messages when I start the car.

I have the same problem and the only way I was able to turn off the FCW light was to switch the "car select" on the menu, but I am not sure if the FCW is working.

is the metra harness included in the kit , the same as Metra'a 70-1729 harness?

I have searched all the information on this package that we have and that I could find on Metra's site but cannot find a separate model number for the harness. I recommend contacting Metra's support using 386-257-1187 to see if they know
