Q
I'm wanting to use this part with the KDC-X798 single DIN receiver and a Cobra 29 LX CB just under it which I believe is about a 1/4 inch bigger than single DIN on height and width. I'm expecting to have to do a little trimming, but was wondering if anyone has done anything similar?

I doubt it will fit in the standard opening, you will likely have to trim outside of the opening. There should be enough space to do it, but if you don't have the right tools it will look amateur. I'd imagine an experience stereo shop could do it fairly cheap (under 100.00 easily).

I don't have an answer...yet! I have the same plan, but haven't gotten to it because of winter not giving up! I will be doing this when the weather breaks! Sorry I'm no help to you! John (udy2554 on TacomaWorld)

Hi there, Yes you do get all the instructions you need. I got everything right on the first try. Don't overthink the process of getting the old bezel off: there are no hidden "barbs" you have to find with the "slim jim" tool you will need. Crutchfield sells them. If you have the steering wheel volume/function controls you will need the adaptor module for your Tacoma. Note that it will have several wires you won't need. Also, when you boot it up the first time a light will display on it (red or green) when finished. You would expect green if you were successful, but I got a red and everything works fine. (The instructions conflict as to the desired color.) Good Luck!

Yes, they send you everything you need. You will have to solder the new radio's factory wiring harness to the adapter harness that plugs into the vehicle's original wiring connector. I used heat shrink tubing to make the connections neat and clean.

Yes and they are very detailed and inclusive

I think so. The instructions I received were easy to follow to help me install my new radio.
