About the Axxess AX-ADFD02 Vehicle-specific Harness

Dave Delamere

Retain your vehicle's factory features with a new radio

You want to install a new car stereo in your Ford, but you don't want to lose the useful features built into your factory radio. The Axxess AX-ADFD02 harness works directly with the AX-ADBOX1 or AX-ADBOX2 interfaces to give you the ability to connect your new radio to the existing wiring in your vehicle and keep your factory features working. You'll keep the features you've become accustomed to, such as Bluetooth®, safety warning chimes, Retained Accessory Power (RAP), your factory amp (if present), and the SYNC® system.

Important Installation Notes: You must use this harness with the AX-ADBOX1 or AX-ADBOX2 interfaces to install your car stereo. Your new car stereo must also have a rear auxiliary input to retain the SYNC system. If your Ford has a digital amplifier and you're using the AX-ADBOX2 interface, you will lose your ability to fade from front to rear with this adapter.

Please enter your vehicle information or call an Advisor at 1-888-955-6000 to find out if the AX-ADFD02 and its accompanying interface are compatible with your vehicle. Warranty: 1 year.

Features

Compatibility: The AX-ADFD02 must be used with the Axxess AX-ADBOX1 or AX-ADBOX2 Auto-Detect System Interface (sold separately) when replacing your factory radio with an aftermarket stereo in a Ford Explorer (2012-up), Fiesta (2011-up), or Focus (2012-up); as of 8/29/2013.

Make Model Year
Ford
Explorer
2012-up
Fiesta 2011-up
Focus
2012-up
Note: Your aftermarket head unit must be equipped with a rear-panel AUX input (RCA-to-3.5mm adapter may required, sold separately). Please consult Crutchfield's Vehicle Selector to see if your vehicle is compatible.

Ford SYNC Retention: In conjunction with the Axxess Auto-Detect System Interface (sold separately), the AX-ADFD02 helps to retain all functions of the Ford SYNC system; including Voice Recognition Music Search, USB, iPod, Auxiliary Input, Bluetooth Phone & Audio Streaming, Turn-by-Turn Navigation, 911 Assist, and Vehicle Health Report. To retain these features your aftermarket head unit must be equipped with a rear-panel AUX input (RCA-to-3.5mm adapter may required and sold separately).

Note: The retention of your vehicle's factory USB port does not support Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. If you have an aftermarket receiver that supports Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, you'll need to connect your compatible Apple iPhone or Android smarpthone directly into your aftermarket receiver's USB port (not the factory USB port).

Factory Amplified/Non-Amplified Compatible: The Axxess AX-ADFD02 can be used in vehicles with or without factory amplifiers, including digital amplified systems found in Ford vehicles (such as Sony/THX). Both balance & fade control are retained when used with AX-ADBOX1 interface (sold separately). The AX-ADBOX2 interface (sold separately) does not retain fader in vehicle's with factory digital amplifier.

R.A.P (Retained Accessory Power): The ignition power source of many vehicles keeps the radio on until one of the doors is opened. This feature is called the R.A.P. (retained accessory power). The AX-ADFD02, along with the Axxess Auto-Detect System Interface (sold separately) is designed to retain this feature.

Optional Steering Wheel Control Interface: The AX-ADFD02 features a right-angle 3.5mm connector that lets you keep your vehicle's OEM steering wheel controls via the optional Axxess Steering Wheel Control Interface (120ASWC1, sold separately).

Customer Q&A

Q
Has anyone bought this for a 2014 Ford Focus SE Hatchback?

I can't remember if that is the harness for the steering wheel controls or for the speaker wires and such. if it's the harness for the steering wheel controls stay away from it because it's junk. You cannot map the buttons through the controller and it will randomly stop working correctly. If it's the harness for the speaker wires and stuff that has been working fine.

Does this retain the factory USB connector in a non-MFT 2014 Fiesta?

You will want to contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat to discuss compatibility with your factory system. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and see if this will integrate. If it does not, then they will also be able to discuss other options with you.
